My mom moved into Oakmont of Montecito nearly a year ago while recovering from spinal surgery, and it turned out to be exactly the place she needed during that stage of her life. From the moment she arrived, the staff made her feel welcomed, cared for, and supported. One of the biggest benefits was having Amy and physical therapy services onsite. During her recovery, it was incredibly convenient and comforting for my mom to simply go downstairs to the gym and attend her routine therapy appointments without having to travel elsewhere. Amy was truly exceptional. She challenged and encouraged my mom every day, pushing her to work hard while always believing in her ability to recover. Her dedication, expertise, and unwavering support played a huge role in helping my mom regain her strength, confidence, and independence. I also want to recognize Lucy, who provided my mom with so much love, encouragement, and support throughout her stay. Lucy's kindness, patience, and genuine care meant the world to our family. She treated my mom with dignity and compassion and was always there with a smile, a helping hand, or words of encouragement when they were needed most. Another standout aspect of Oakmont of Montecito was the incredible activities program. Gianna does an amazing job creating opportunities for residents to stay active, engaged, and connected. From social events and outings to creative and wellness-focused activities, there was always something fun and meaningful happening. These activities not only kept my mom busy but also helped her build friendships and truly feel part of the community. The dining experience was another highlight. Lisa and the entire dining staff were wonderful, always providing exceptional service with kindness and genuine care. The food was consistently delicious, and the beautiful dining atmosphere made every meal feel special. Beyond the amenities and services, what truly makes Oakmont of Montecito stand out is the people. The residents quickly became friends, and those friendships brought so much joy and companionship to my mom. The warm, welcoming environment lifted her spirits, gave her a sense of belonging, and helped her thrive during her recovery. I would also like to recognize Arianna and Molly who helped me find an apartment for my mom in a time crunch.  The apartment was so lovely and clean - it helped my mom feel at home during her stay. Oakmont of Montecito was truly a blessing for our family. Not only did my mom receive the care she needed during a challenging recovery, but she also found a vibrant community, renewed confidence, and lifelong friendships. Thanks to the incredible staff and residents who surrounded her with support and encouragement, she is in a much better place today. We will always be grateful for the positive impact Oakmont of Montecito had on her life and our family. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the many other staff members whose names I may not have mentioned. Our stepfather Gene has stayed at Oakmont Montecito since 2021. He has left this month, April 2026. He has enjoyed his stay tremendously. The staff is gracious and caring. This place used to be great! But with turnover of staff and the loss of their amazing memory care activities director, Mune, over 18 months ago it has left their Traditions (memory care) residents without engaging activities. This position was left either unfilled or not filled with the correct type of staff. My mom has lost her want and staff does little to help reengage and affectively know how to coax her out of her room where she's left to talk to herself because it's easier. I'm so saddened. I know dementia is a progressive disease however she's still able to get around and hold conversation and joke. I see little effort to help reengage my mom when I'm unfortunately not able to be there as much as I wish to help reengage her. For the price of care, I'd expect more. My mom did get that the first couple years she was there. However this memory care is definitely not what it use to be or what you'd expect from a high end senior living facility. read more

I am giving Montecito five stars and this is why: 1) My mother has lived here for 12 years and I live 3 miles away so I'm there all the time 2) They have very little turnover of their management and not much at all with caregivers either 3) They try very hard to keep residents social and active 4) My mother fell 9 months ago and broke her hip. She has dementia and did not rehab at all. She is now in a wheelchair and completely dependent. She was completely independent before this event dancing and walking on her own. 5) Now, my mother needs much assistance. After 50 years of working in healthcare myself I am very attentive to her needs and the care she is given. The staff listens to me and they are very attentive to her. They know her very well and treat her like family. So, to the Director Augustin, Michaela, Maria (the nurse), Rosario (manager of care staff) , Stephanie, Kaitlin, Blanca and Irma I thank you for treating my mother with respect, patience and compassion. If your loved one can get in....Oakmont of Montecito is a blessing. You won't find better care in the East Bay. read more

it's a sad place and extremely depressing. lack of communication between leads and care takers. it's just sad. if you're able to care for a parent or loved one do it. you will feel guilty when they pass. i went to see my mom everyday and rarely do you see others ppl visiting. The ppl sit in room or in hallway and it's sad. my mom fell and they called me to tell me she was ok. How'd she fall in dining/rec room at approx 5:30pm when it's busy. They found her behind a recliner chair. she wasn't fine and broke her hip but they never called an ambulance and how did she get back to her room? They told me to bring her to hospital, I had to call ambulance transportation there and back. When she returned 2 non english speaking care takers were adjusting her legs on bed above her hip as I walked into room. she wasn't fine she was screaming in pain and I asked what are you doing she has a broken hip? They had door closed??? No communication from nurse station btwn hospital she died 3 days later. The week prior she was fine. i'm sick about everything read more

This is the nicest Assisted Living facility in our area. Our relative's doctor agrees that it is very good behind the scenes too. It goes from independent living to having a memory unit. I have many friends who have parents here as well and we chose it based on their recommendation. None of them have said anything bad though it is of course expensive. It's more fun if you go when you can still participate in the events and outings. Most of our friends' relatives have moved into the memory care or passed at this point and they still are very pleased. No place is perfect and growing older is hard but we are the family of a current resident and we are there several times a week. The residents our family member speaks with also think it is the best place for them. read more

My sister-in-law has been at Oakmont of Montecito- Traditions for a year and a half. She is very well taken care of and kept busy with all the activities and day trips. The Tradition's Director, Pat is fantastic. I have often seen her calming, guiding, reassuring, and giving much love to the residents. Mune is fantastic at always having fun activities to do. She engages with the residents and puts out a newsletter with photos of the activities the residents have done every week. The Med Tech staff is on top of all medical needs and communicates with any issues that come up. All of the caregivers, and cleaning staff are friendly and efficient. I am so glad we found Oakmont of Montecito for my sister-in-law. She is so happy there. read more

Both my parents are in this facility. It is so nice to have the peace of mind that they are in a safe place. They both love it there, and they have all kinds of fun activities to keep them busy throughout the day. The only complaints we have are the food selection some nights and the inconsistencies with the kitchen and service. My mother lived here for 7 1/2 years after my father passed. She passed in October. Montecito was a very good place for her, with lots of things to do and lots of social interaction, although this has been impacted by the pandemic. The facility is very clean and visually pleasing. It never smelled bad there, which is a big plus. Most importantly, the staff are wonderful--very kind, compassionate people, especially in the final weeks of her life, although they can be slow to respond. My mother complained about the food pretty regularly and I have to admit it was pretty bad sometimes, thus the four star rating. read more

Caregivers doing nothing in the halls Her room smelled like urine her room was not clean. This is easily one of the prettiest and nicest senior living homes in Concord. I've been in here on several occasions and even taken a tour of the place, including being able to see the largest of their rooms. There are different floor plans and room sizes and the large "Blackhawk" room is actually a full-sized home. At 1,600 sq ft it's actually bigger than my own condo! The property is gorgeous and the staff are warm and genuine. My husband Casey and I have had very pleasant experiences with Katie and Michaela. Residents have lots of opportunities to be social here with parties and events that take place both on the property and at outside locations. They have music, art, and beautiful paths for walking through their gardens. It's a really big property and the outside is as pretty as the inside! There's a small theater inside, and a salon and spa. They are also allowed to have small pets. This retirement home is really one of a kind, and it's not surprising they have a waiting list! Seniors can lively independently or assisted, and they have housing for memory care residents too. read more

Posting another review after Montecito had yelp remove my previous post. My father was very ill with cancer and we took him to Montecito to be cared for. They neglected him his entire time there which was cut short to three days after we found that they would not even help him to the bathroom and succombed to injuries after falling on his way to the restroom. After complaining several times, instead of helping, they attempted to force us to sign a waiver of rights releasing them of any responsibility. Highly recommend that you DO NOT go to this place. NOTE TO Executive Director: I appreciate that it is not your policy but I don't appreciate the automatic insinuation that I have mistaken the location of my fathers abuse. This facility is a scam. "Assisted Living" with no assistance, critical thinking or medical care. My father sat in a chair for three days with Shortness of breath with nobody noticing or taking vital signs. My mother didn't get out of bed for days dehydrated. The people giving medications are not nurses. They have no medical knowledge. Every assistance has a price tacked onto it. For example. medication administration, $500 /a month, eating their meal in there apt, has a room service charge. Daily well checks, housekeeping, personal care etc has a unreasonable exorbitant fee. My parents pay $7000. A month rent with no assistance. The extra assistance the require is another $3,500/ mo. I find this unethical. The facility is new beautiful and they have a chef. That's how they draw you in. They have been negligent multiple times. Do not trust this facility with your loved ones. read more

Yes my sister is the only one who can visit with my Dad because she is 1.3 miles away. Therefore she and "her staff at Montecito that only returns her calls", don't seem to care that no one else can visit with him, unless they have $2000 to fly to California from Texas and stay in hotels that cost $100/night. Whereas ATT Uverse internet costs $20/month and enables video contact with anyone where ever they are. As primary caregiver and "her staff at Montecito", assuring viable contact with loved ones that are far away should be a main concern. My question remains as to why video calls for elderly people who are losing their ability to talk would be an unwelcome addition. And yes, from 2000 miles away, with no video call capability and staff who cannot plug a wireless router into a wall taking care of my Dad, yes I do have some complaints and concerns. Indeed, today is Nov 29th. I left a message with the director Patty on Nov 23rd that ATT Uverse would be coming on Dec 3rd for installation, and I still haven't gotten a return call as to whether there would be someone there on Monday, her day off for some reason, if they needed to get into her office which is already wired for internet and right next to my Dad's room. For the last 4 months, their "tech guy" didn't know that all he needed was a $50 wireless router to enable video calls for all, but I couldn't tell him because he didn't return me or my sister Teresa's calls about it. My sister Teresa lives about 1000 miles away in LA, as do my Aunt, Uncle and cousins, and my other Aunt and cousins are about 2000 miles away in Chicago too. So I guess we all have it so easy complaining from so far away and we should all quit our jobs and move to California where we can't afford a house, because Montecito "directors and tech guy" can't return calls or install a simple wireless internet connection. I did not complain about the nursing staff. Indeed, the nurses are the only ones who have tried helped me with the iPhone video calls, which will not work without a stronger wireless internet signal. How funny that my sister comes up here and defends these people who have been incapable of connecting my Dad with his loved ones via video calls for 4 months. I find only two reasons for not wanting video access to a nursing home patient in this day and age: incompetence or something worse. copy of my 1st review posted on 11/15/2012, to which my sister strangely defended the complete isolation of my Dad from anyone but her and "her staff". Why would someone defend incompetence? Is 4 months to install simple wireless internet for video calls for a dying people not incompetence? If the people were not dying, they would complain themselves. Who wouldn't? 1.0 star rating 11/15/2012 I have been trying to be able to do video calls with my Dad at Montecito for the last 4 months. He's in the "last phase ward" called "Traditions", and they do not even have it wired for internet or wireless so that video calls can be made with the patients by loved ones. The "concierge service" they brag about is an email address that no one ever answers and even if you call and leave a message for the "tech guy" you never get a call back. They actually said that these patients in the "last phase ward", the sickest patients, had to walk up to the 2nd floor to do video calls on old computers with no cameras on them, because the "tech guy" said putting internet/wireless for video calls would "be difficult". And yet when I looked up my Dad's room on AT&T U-verse, it was available in the "Director's Office" one room over. So apparently the wiring or wireless is no problem at all. I called the Traditions Director Patty and the Montecito Director Courtney to explain this to them, but neither return calls. At Montecito despite their "luxury claims and fancy lobby", your loved one to be locked up with no video call access to their loved ones, and staff that never returns your call. They literally do not care that loved ones cannot do video calls with patients close to dying, and will actually hang up on you if you get upset and ask to speak to someone in charge about it. Unbelievable. I spent $2000 on iPhones in order to do video calls with my Dad at Montecito, and Montecito won't lift a finger or even let AT&T U-verse fix their wiring-no wireless problem to strengthen the video call signals which can't penetrate the thick Montecito building walls. read more
