However, I'm getting to the point that I may try to find another salon. Why?? For starters, the general attitude here is not good. Service is not a thing here, and unlike most salons, stylists (I've tried 3 different ones so far) are just not that personable. In fact, one of the three stylists I've tried here cancelled on me not once, but twice!! Obviously, I stopped booking with her. I also sense that they're not even that happy being there. I could be wrong, but it's the feeling that you get from these stylists. Still, the general hair cutting has been good...though, in my case, it's pretty basic. Just a straight line! I've always tipped 20%...but I'm starting to rethink this, given how the service is so minimal. On my last 2 sessions, the stylist barely said "Hi" to me. The place itself is pretty cool looking (in a grungy kinda way?), but I feel that the place may not be clean as it should be. I could be wrong here, but I've seen dust on their surface and arty structures. Also, I really don't like how they blow dry and comb your hair with their fingers. Not just a little bit while blow drying...but all throughout! It just feels a bit gross. I mean, who knows how clean their fingers are! I also hate the way they wash your hair. They actually have a separate girl that wash your hair (instead of the stylists)...and this girl is just not good! She has zero strength in her fingers...and I hate the way she even touches your hair! Possibly THE worst hair washing experience (experiences) I've ever had in ANY salon. I can't believe someone that's actually hired for this job (hair washing) does such a poor job! Despite liking the location and pricing, service and overall quality is always an issue. I may give it another try...but if my thoughts and feelings are confirmed once again on my next visit, I'll just find another salon in the area.

Lisa offers a variety of perms-digital, setting, magic, traditional, etc. Make sure you call and make an appointment. What you don't speak Korean? They also speak English. Don't worry. Most perms take about 3-4 hours so just keep that in mind. I got my mullet permed to perfection here, just the way I wanted it. Price was $170 for a setting perm. Completely worth it. DEFINITELY will be back. These ladies are part of my beauty squad now. Thanks!!!!

Now, I sit down in his chair to take about raising our children in capable adults as we catch up on each other's lives. I cheated on him for a while at another salon that I shall not name, but I'm back now. He fixed the other salon's mishap and I haven't looked back. He's cut my hair, bleached my hair, and toned my hair to my heart's desires and I will never leave my hair to another ever again. Brian's is an artist. He always listens to what I want and we discuss the results that I want. He knows me well, so if ask for something out of the ordinary, he makes sure that I understand what I'm asking for. I've been seeing Holly for three years now and she takes very good care of my hair. Plus the salon is so clean and very professional. The appointment was fine but took way too long for a wash, hydration treatment, silk press and trim. I was there nearly 5 hours. I loved the haircut and how the press came out. Fast forward 2 weeks, I have severe heat damage to my 4C hair (some stylists think have to use extreme heat on my hair but this is actually not true) and this would be the reason I would not return. I am very sad that I have a head full of straight pieces The only other irritation that I had was I noticed SBD staff shoot a lot of IG videos of finished products but they don't appear to ask the clients before videoing. I stopped the video of my hair simply because he called the girl over to do the video without checking with me first. Also the video would have shown a really nice press and cut but the aftermath is a disaster would not be seen. My overall rating is a 3 star closer to 2.5 because of the damage.

One fateful day during lunch and in between lemon pepper wings, I decided that I'll give Hair K a try the next time I needed a trimming. Ever since my first clippings hit their well swept floor that sunny day, I've never looked back. What makes Hair-K so amazing? Well, one, Johnny and his wife, Sue, know how to cut and style hair. I'm Asian, my friend is Italian, my girlfriend is Hispanic, and her daughter is part Hispanic, part Guamanean. Johnny and Sue can work and style all of us til our hearts are content. Two, at $15 for a basic cut and shampoo, you just can't go wrong. Three, Johnny's a sports fan and is pretty easy to talk with. So, there you have it. For a nice, inexpensive haircut with good conversation on the side, visit Hair-K. And pick up some BQ Wings afterwards. They also have a delicious sushi place, Cafe Japan, that recently opened up. After my disaster at CJ's, I didn't want to go back, even though one of the stylists who did not ruin my hair does a really good haircut for my daughter. But I wanted to try somewhere new. Enter Hairbar. I chose this place for my 9 year old to get her haircut for her first day of school. She has wavy/somewhat curly hair and she wanted it straightened, along with a trim. The stylist took her back, shampooed and then brought her to the chair. She straightened it first, and then cut it with her standing up. My daughter was cringing the whole time she was getting the blow dry, and finally said the dryer was hurting/burning her scalp. The stylist commented that she burns her own daughter all the time, which really wasn't all that comforting. I could tell my daughter was uncomfortable with the straightener because she was so fearful of being burned. She's never acted like that before at any salon. I just held my breath, and thankfully that part went okay. When she finished the back of her hair, I could tell that her haircut was visibly crooked. I asked her to fix it, which of course meant taking off more length and then she kind of haphazardly cut the sides in a tapered look, but not even on both sides at all. She could tell, I guess, and then just kept snipping away at the sides. For $35, I felt that's a bit steep for a child under ten's haircut. They did have a 10% off offer on Yelp, but she denied it, saying they don't accept it. Well, someone should take it off the Yelp check-in page then. The other part I didn't like is that she literally stared at me the whole time I was paying, as in watching to see how much tip I was going to give. I gave the standard 20%, but felt uncomfortable being observed like that while trying to pay. Nice staff, but I can't say I'd come here again. The next day, I was speaking with one of my colleagues and she said she had been there once, and that she didn't like the haircut or style afterwards and never went back. Guess it's back to the drawing board.

I actually followed him to this salom and he's been with me on my hair journey for 3 years so I fully trust his decisions with my hair. Why? Because Thanh loves my hair more than I do (lol) and he will always explain what he is doing to my hair. I really like his work ethic because he doesn't cut corners and wants to make sure you leave the salon looking and feeling better than when you came in. The price you pay for your hair reflects the quality of love and care that goes into your hair. So yes, I would recommend Hair Bar. Ask for Tim!
