I wanted to do something on Mother's Day which would be enjoyable for my 3 grandkids, my kids and my husband. They thought it was a little weird (just the word Nancy used). But the my toddler granddaughter fearlessly fed the camels. Really sweet interaction for "city" kids with animals. Price was very reasonable. Staff very friendly and engaging. Keep up the good work! We really enjoyed our private tour. My dad loved camels and passed last Xmas Eve, so I wanted to connect with him through a camel experience. It's a perfect family adventure where the owners/presenters/educators are a husband and wife team that will keep you laughing and on the edge of your seat. They give terrific insights into the personalities (yes, personalities), behaviors, and characteristics of these amazing creatures. You also have the privilege of getting right up close and petting and feeding the camels - respecting the rules and proper camel etiquette, of course. I would be remiss if I did not mention a couple of very charismatic birds with some terrific tricks up their sleeve (shout out to Koalabee and Lola!). We just went yesterday, taking advantage of the "no-reservations visits" this month. The gift shop is open at 10 and you can buy your tour tickets ($15) and camel tide tickets ($12) there. We had to wait until 11, when our tour began, so in the meantime we could see some sheep, donkeys and horses there next to the parking. Tour started promptly at 11, lasted from 45 min to 1 hour. It was hot, fun, and informative! Do bring hats/sunscreen--sun seemed more hot/there and more direct at that time! Also, a lot of dirt--it is a Camel Farm after all. By noon, the kiddos were in line to ride the camels (btw, there are shaded benches while you wait your turn to ride). One camel and you go around one quick time. It was an awesome addition to visiting nearby Julian. read more

We recently visited with a group of 10 including babies and toddlers (up to age 5). It was amazing. The kids and the adults all enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide was amazing and funny and friendly. It was a bit hot but there was nice shaded areas to take breaks from the sun. The sheep were adorable and were the welcoming committee when we first arrived at the parking lot. They all came rushing out (they were behind a gate) greeting us. We were able to feed the camels, sheep and goldfish. It was an amazing time for our little group and definitely worth the $. My personal favorite was the gold fish ponds! They are soo big! There's also some parrots and cockatoos. It's a nice short walk around but with a decent amount to see. Having driven by this site many, many times, we finally scheduled a tour when family was coming to town. We ragned in age from 10 to 70. The tour included a quick visit to see a beautiful crown crane, then to see the sheep and then to the camels. We had hand on petting the camels, we got to feed them, we got to ride one. Evryone in our group was engaged throughout and Tricia did a great job. I would suggest that it might be engaging for children below school age, but otherwise most people would find it an interesting experience. read more

Our multi-generational group of 12 had ANOTHER wonderful time visiting with Nancy and Gil and their family of birds, sheep, and, of course, camels! The last time we visited a few years ago, the grandkids were too young to ride the camel, Nancy is a natural communicator and provided us with as much information as we wanted to know about the camels, the other animals, her farm in general, and she did it such a way that was entertaining and humorous. Can I just start with the Fantastic sense of humor they have! A Yelper gave them a one star review saying it was "Just a patch of dirt with a couple of camels.". So, they put in on a T-shirt and Magnet! Haahahahaha!! Priceless!! They had picnic tables where we ate sandwiches from a Julian Deli before the tour started. They are still doing tours by appointment only which I loved cuz you know everyone in your group! It is a small place but our tour guide made it a special experience. It was 95 degrees that day but there are trees and misters near the animals. Every animal they have has a story behind it. Turkeys, chickens, several species of re-homed exotic birds, sheep and of course Camels. It's all very interesting. The baby camels are adorable! We fed the sheep some grain and fed the camels apple pops. So...Feed and pet a camel is checked off the bucket list! They had hand washing stations to clean up that had all the different scented Camel milk soaps they sell. The gift shop is tiny but cute. I love my pomegranate soap, lip balm and a 1 star magnet!! The chocolate was okay but I'm not sure if the texture is because of the camel milk or because it was so hot that it melted and resolidified at home. AMAZING experience. Better than a zoo ticket. My friend and I came on a whim because I've heard about it before, and we didn't know what to expect but we had so much fun. For $15 you get to watch an entertaining talk about the animals they have on this farm (turkeys, tropical birds, and camels) and then you get to feed their adorable sheep and magnificent camels! I would have never guessed such a magical places was way out here, this place is truly an Oasis! We came with a group of over 20 and Tricia did an amazing job leading our tour, answering every random question we had to throw at her. She and her assistant (I can't recall her name but she was lovely as well) handled assisting our group so well, demonstrating how to pet, feed and communicate with all of the animals and giving awesome insight into each individual animal and sharing some of their little quirks and history. A very cool thing to visit when in Ramona or when visiting Julian. We stopped on the way home from Julian and we stopped right on time. They were just about ready to start their program talking about camels and introducing their birds. All the staff seem to enjoy what they do. They have a gift/souvenir shop. I came here a few weekends ago. I have to say I learned a lot. But overall a very enjoyable experience. I loved that you aren't just there to see Camels. They have a bird show that is as well part of the experience. Gold fish. Then we have lovely sheep. You get to feed them. You can also buy Camel lotions, chapsticks and soaps in the small giftshop. Th owners are very sweet and you can tell they love what they do. Also if you pay a little more you can ride the Camel when you purchase the ticket(s). A bumpy ride for sure but most definitely a good time. I highly recommend this place for kids. It's very interactive. Camels are interesting animals. So it was nice to learn more. Took the kids to the camel ranch this weekend. Perfect San Diego day. I was very impressed with all the open space and green rolling hills driving to this site. The animals appear very well cared for and were all calm. We took their tour and then had lots of time for camel rides and walking around enjoying the other animals, sheep, chickens, donkey. The staff were very kind and knowledgeable. It is fun to fed the camels apple slices on the stick. Bring extra money for more. What a fun and unique experience! Who knew there was a camel farm in San Diego? Thanks to Emmitt for putting together and organizing this event. It was a perfect day, not too hot or cold, there were a bunch of animals there birds, goats, turkeys, sheep, dogs and of course camels. You can feed the camels and/or sheep you get 2 tickets for feeding per admission, but you can also purchase another treat for $1 each. The camels get pretty excited about being fed and can be pushy with each other but are by no means dangerous. I was able to pet them without any fear of being bit. The same goes for the sheep. I was fortunate enough that a baby camel had just been born 3 days prior! So cool that we got to see the baby camel and mom. There was also a baby sheep that had just been born on St. Patricks day. There is an animal show that starts at 1:30 which you should definitely see. Its not only funny but also lets you know about the farm, the owners (Nancy and Gil) background and how the farm came to be. After the show you can feed the camels ($1) or even ride them ($7 ages 3-14, $12 adults, 200Lb weight limit) Feeding them was fun but it would not be the same without the information and comedy of the show before, you really get to know the owners. Nancy used to create the shows at the wild animal park so its very professionally done. The dairy doesn't sell any milk or any edible products produced on site. I'm guessing getting all the necessary food handling licenses would be astronomical. They do however sell soap and lotion that is made from camels milk on site which is super soft. They also sell camels milk chocolate which is imported from Dubai. They also sell shirts which has a funny story behind it. You'll just have to see the show to find out about the story. Everyone in our group had a lot of fun, its a very unique experience, it would be great experience for kids. The camel dairy is only open to the public for one weekend a month, look at the schedule for dates, though you can book a private party almost any day if you want. --- One note, the flyer they give you at the entrance needs to be updated because the price of the camel ride and entrance has gone up by a few dollars. read more
