He loves the activities, the trips, and the opportunity to make new friends every year. What stands out most to me as a parent is how organized, professional, and accommodating the staff are. The communication is excellent, and they truly work hard to create a positive experience for both the children and their families. The education classes were perfect---having the campers practice their academic skills without realizing they are preparing for school in September. I spoke with Ms Karen, Ms Carmen, and Ms Jennifer throughout my 8 weeks and all 3 people were helpful. They answered all my questions, gave me updates when I asked, and even offered advice for the new school year. My kids loved their teachers because they came home every day to talk about everything they had done. My son loved playing sports and my daughter loved her counselor/group. I am definitely registering them again for next summer. 5 stars, 10+, 2 thumbs up!!

My daughter went to Happy Days Summer Camp 2 years ago when we were in Queens visiting family for…read morethe summer. She went for 4 weeks and absolutely loved it! We headed to Massachusetts and she sulked the whole way. She wanted to go the camp for the rest of the summer. I thought the price was reasonable. I don't know if the prices went up but if they went up a little still well worth it. They took them to a nice pool club every day and then a different activity. I liked that they went to the park but my daughter loved going to the movies and bowling. One day it rained and they did an ice cream party (her favorite of course)at their headquartered locations which from the pictures I saw in the brochure looked good. Most important thing though was that it was organized and safe. They had a nurse and EMT on duty and the counselor to camper was like 3 to 1. The bus showed up on time every day and their was at least one counselor on the bus both ways. We are headed back to Queens this summer for at least 3 weeks and plan on enrolling my daughter if they do 3 weeks. Hell if it's reasonable enough I would pay for the 4 weeks. All in all a great experience.

He went to the camp the whole summer and made a lot of friends. The cool thing was that even though he wasn't really into sports he loved going to the movies and some of the other non-sports related activities. Their counselors were really very sweet and the senior staff keeps a good eye out. One of the things that impressed me was the food. I had heard they served school lunch food at some of the camps. But at this one the food was catered from a Kosher deli. I really liked that. I'm not Jewish but I Like the idea that the food was good quality. We are not sure what we are doing this summer but even if we go on vacation for a couple of weeks during the summer I was told we could go the first few weeks, reserve the last 3 weeks and not lose our spot. I'll try to keep this short... -Staff mainly spoke Chinese and most of them hardly understood English. All of the TAs are untrained high school kids (we were promised college kids and certified teachers.) Per one of the TAs they had one day of orientation and no other training whatsoever. -First day of camp was horrendous, very chaotic and disorganized. Apparently there were two camps occupying the same school. Some of the younger kids were sitting there crying bc their parents had to go to work. No teachers or TAs came to console them. -Had to buy school supplies (other camps did not require that) -Ms. Li (owner) said that all the teachers were licensed and student to teacher ratio would be 6:1 (which was not true) each class had average 15 kids with 1 teacher (i hope they were certified but i did not request to see any certification) and several TAs. - I was a chaperone for the trips and witnessed such unsafe practices as TAs did not know how to handle the kids. Kids were running all over the place and TAs where just hanging out with each other. First trip was to children museum of manhattan which was a disaster. 3 people per seat on the school bus, not all of the children wore seatbelts, 40 min ride to manhattan on a school bus with no AC in 95 degree weather. Stayed in the museum for literally 5 mins. One parent was so irate complaining that the TAs were not watching the kids and didn't know where some kids where. He was so fed up he took his kid home on his own. Then lunch was at central park in 95+ degree weather (are you kidding me?!). Kids had to pee and needed more water which no one had. -Trips were every wednesdays (4 total)- 3 museums and bowling- kids hated all of them except for the museum in LI bc the older kids got to go outside to the beach and learn about the different animals. -Activities included either kungfu or dance. My kids were not thrilled about it. My son didn't end up participating. -No ACs in the classrooms just fans. -they did not go outside to the park or anything. Only time they went out was on wednesday for the trips -the office has 3 different phone lines but when you call NO ONE picks up the phone!! In the beginning of camp I called to see how my kids were doing but could not get a hold of anyone! very frustrating and made me worry. Finally my MIL spoke to them in chinese when she picked them up and they provided 2 other numbers. The person for one of the phone line didn't even speak english! -My son's kindergarten teacher quit the second week of camp and was never replaced so my son didn't get to learn any english or math as they promised I am thinking really hard for something positive... -I think my daughter did learn something in math and english. They came home with text books and most pages were filled out. -At the end of camp all the kids do a performance. My son did not perform his kungfu but my daughter danced and she did enjoy it. If you're like me and want to find a summer camp that provides learning, fun activities, and safety then do not put your children in AACE summer camp.

I'm a teacher, and I'd say teachers can pretty much tell when someone is passionate about their career. Master Choi has definitely proven to me that he got skills and a genuine heart to build my techniques with careful practice. Some places just teach you kicks to a bag and unorganized movements that if it's improperly done, you'll get your own bones kicked. (literally) Consider me Kingdom Fighters, your new loyal customer.

I attended Magic Day Camp for two summers - first when I was 7 in 2000, and again at age 9 in 2003…read more Looking at their website today, I see they've added some new activities like air trampolines and visits to White Post Farm. Back in my day, it was much more limited: swimming took up about 80% of the time, with occasional trips to a run-down movie theater (where half the seats didn't work) and Adventureland amusement park. The one genuinely awesome activity was visiting this old-school arcade - that place was dope, and along with one kind bus monitor named Melissa, it's the only reason this review gets 2 stars. The camp's unprofessionalism and poor care really stand out in my memory. When I was 9, I had a bad fall that left scrapes all along the side of my face and knocked out one of my teeth - thankfully it was just a baby tooth and not a permanent one. Their idea of first aid? A band-aid and ice water in a plastic glove because they didn't even have proper ice packs. They didn't properly inform my mother about the extent of my injuries, so when I got home, she was shocked. She wrote a lengthy letter expressing her concerns about their negligence. Their response? The next day at camp, they pulled me aside to tell me I had "embarrassed them." I was just a kid who got hurt under their watch - what was there to be embarrassed about? The camp's staffing practices were concerning, to say the least. Instead of hiring qualified teachers or experienced childcare professionals, they filled positions with high school students as junior counselors and a few 18-22 year olds as the lead councelors. I remember overhearing them getting their monthly paychecks, well not overhear we were in an open field just sitting around cause that tends to happen there and then someone came with a whole bunch of envelopes and handed them out to them. I remember one girl received just $430 for four weeks of work, and she was visibly upset. At the time, as a kid, I thought that was a lot of money. Now I realize how absurd it was - less than $500 to watch other people's children for a month? No wonder the care was subpar. They were paying teenagers peanuts to handle significant responsibilities. Most of the bus monitors were incredibly mean to the kids, with one shining exception - Melissa. I still remember her decades later because she was the only one who showed genuine kindness. One counselor convinced a little girl to let her "borrow" her cell phone, then made international calls to the Dominican Republic (imagine that phone bill in the early 2000s!). Another counselor was eventually fired for being consistently cruel to the kids - she was clearly just there for the paycheck. While I see they've added more activities since my time there, my experiences were memorable for all the wrong reasons. Based on my time at Magic Day Camp, I wouldn't send my own children there. The administration seemed more focused on collecting fees than providing quality care and activities for the kids. That old arcade was amazing and Melissa was a saint, but two bright spots don't make up for everything else.
