Horrible front desk service.I had one of the worst experiences at this dental office. From the beginning, the communication was incredibly poor -- I was quoted different prices multiple times, and when I asked for clarification, they became defensive instead of helpful. After I made a payment, they told me a room was being prepared, but then suddenly called security to remove me from the premises for no clear reason. To make matters worse, the staff -- including the front desk employee -- were laughing as I was leaving. When I called back to ask for the corporate contact information, the woman who answered (an Indian girl at the front) refused to provide it and hung up on me. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this place if you expect transparency, professionalism, or even basic respect. read more

My dentist left the practice however I continued with Oasis. Waited over 45 minutes for my appt. however didn't see anyone coming or going. When I was checking out I was told I needed to make appointments for cavities which the dentist never mentioned I had. Very poor communication. read more

Went to have my teeth cleaned and said no x-rays. The hygienist said "We can't service you unless you have x-rays. I told her Dr. Berman is oi.k. with this and I did have x-rays 2 months ago. Im saddened to share that Oasis Dental actually scammed me because in general my experience was good and the dentist was very kind. However I made an appointment over the phone and gave my insurance which was accepted at that time. I go in for my appointment as usual and it was not until I was already in the chair, X-rays completed with the dentists water pick in my mouth that a receptionist entered room to inform me that in fact I was out of network with my insurance and the visit would be nearly $200. I was obviously not going to cause a scene in the office at 9 AM so proceeded but I know without a doubt I was taken advantage of as I am a young student. I could've been informed any time prior that I was OON however the timing on this office's part was intentional and shameful. They also refused to give me an invoice which is confusing as I've never entered a professional medical building that didn't use invoice. Would not recommend and will not return. read more

I thought my husband finally found an honest dentist because he recommended trying a fluoride paste before going straight to fillings. Well, next visit he wanted to do fillings -- about 10 of them. The discussion went something like this: he looked at my husband's x-rays and said "Hm, looks fine, we should just keep an eye on these... you know what, let's do some fillings." Great way to make anyone feel confident that these fillings are necessary and not just to pad his kid's college fund. But he went ahead with the fillings because he's less supicious of dentists than I am. They hurt for weeks, and he had to go back and get some redone. And it gets worse. We got the bill. They upgraded all his work to stuff not covered by insurance *without asking him*. Now we're on the hook for over a thousand dollars for fancy-pants fillings he didn't need or want. Don't ever go to this office unless you don't have teeth. They give you an appointment and see you over am hour after but will cancel you if you show up late. The one older hygienist drills your guns like she's busting up concrete with a jack hammer. You definitely leave with more pain than you come with. They told me to come in at 11:15 today. It is now 12:06 and I'm still in the lobby. Now I feel like I have to wait to make my time worth it. They already pulled a person before me. read more

I feel bad only giving a 2 because the staff was super nice, but here is where I felt oasis could improve: A new patient visit is only xrays and you see a dentist - no cleaning. I called specifically for a cleaning and no one told me this. I got lucky there was a cancellation and was able to get a cleaning at that time. For the xrays, my tech had to redo 2 of them and the plastic piece was digging into my palate and gums through them all which is not how my xrays have been at other dental offices. And with the cleanings, there is no where to rinse and spit! I thought this was so strange. I had to wait until I got out the office and ran to the bathroom to spit in the sink. Overall, very nice people, but the practice itself is lacking. read more

Twice they have messed up my appt times, they have even written it on the post card, then slashed it out, put a new time on their and mail it to me. I hate this place. I would give ZERO stars if I could. Please do not go to this dental office. Dr. Spieler is a con artist. He cares about money, money, money....and nothing else. His attitude is nasty...he's very snappy. As a victim of domestic violence, it's hard for me to be around someone like him. I've lost so much money dealing with this sleazy practice....and I'm still in extreme pain. He likes to do fillings and crowns on the same day to save himself time.....and to further con people out of their money....well, this one particular filling I had on tooth #13 didn't take, so he later did root canal...which also didn't take. I was waiting to hear back about an extraction, but he's avoiding me. I've since returned to my former dentist, but feel that he should perform the extraction since he's the one who charged me thousands of dollars for a useless crown....but this man simply doesn't give a dam*n. What should be routine dental appointments take up half your day. There's no consideraton for anyone's time. What a pack of con artists!! P.S. I spent 30 + minutes waiting and had 2 minutes exam. Dr. Smith said nothing except how are you doing today. No one explained what was the situation about my teeth. Only one staff said I should pay for my two teeth which had problem. No one cared about my teeth or my feeling, they just showed me an estimation of price with no explanation! Please! Not even a single word oh my god! I do believe they only care about money. This is the most awful experience I had ever in a clinic. I used Zocdoc to find a dentist nearby, and they had five star on Zocdoc. After the appointment, I cannot leave a review on Zocdoc.(I used Zocdoc before and for other appointments I can and had leave a review) What a waste of time and money on this clinic! read more

I have been back to Oasis Dental several times since my last review. My previous problem was appropriately resolved and things have been amazing ever since. I have had a great experience with all the staff being friendly and going out of their way to give me a great exprience. In response to my last review when I had a negative experience with the staff member, I will say we have all had bad moments when dealing with other people (especially if you are dealing with people frequently for your job) but she handled the situation appropriately after and that shows a lot of her part. I look forward to future visits to the office and have actually recommended Dr. Spieler to other family members for their future dental needs. read more

I've also had some billing issues as other folks have noted, specifically when there wasn't sufficient research done to determine when I would next be eligible for insurance coverage for some particular work. Also, which member of my family a particular appointment was for has been confused. But I also sense that a real effort is being made to improve the front desk operations of late. As far as Dr Spieler himself, I have found him to be an excellent Dentist, available off-hours for consultation when I've found it necessary to reach out to him by email or phone, and as far as I can tell, the quality of his work is first rate. He also exudes a sense of caring about his patients that is genuine, and seems to have a love of his work and not just the money he gets from it. read more

This practice, Dr. Spieler and his staff are outstanding! I have gone to a number of dentists over the years, and have had a number of dentists as clients - I know a good dentist from a bad one. Dr. Spieler has a relaxed, calm demeanor, excellent skills and is as painless as a dentist can get. He has invested in cutting edge technology to reduce the number of visits necessary for crowns, and to provide better service. Dr. Spieler's technicians and hygienists are also very good both with their technical skills and in how they treat patients. Case in point - when I had a toothache, he made time for an emergency appointment, then followed up with a personal phone call that weekend to check in on me. Never had a dentist do that before. I have teeth with roots that are difficult to work with, and he handled them expertly and efficiently. I have never seen Dr. Spieler treat anyone - staff or patients - badly. In fact, I find him to be one of the most approachable and compassionate dentists I've ever met. I have recommended him to family and to friends, and if you are looking for a dentist, you will not be disappointed. I've seen some negative reviews here on Yelp of this practice, and they are so completely at odds with what I see that I have to believe they were posted to the wrong business. read more

Let Dr. Spieler's unapologetic replies to his 1 star reviews, be your proof that you are in for nothing but trouble and headaches with this office. He also condescendingly mocked another reviewer on yelp blaming his terrible service on "a little language barrier." Wow, just wow. I guess if English is your second language, you are undeserving of respect and good service. Smh. This crap dentist makes you sign consent forms because he is scamming you. CONSENT FORMS! I signed that consent form like a dumbass and I also paid my entire bill due. Don't worry though, the keyboard warrior, Dr. Spieler, will respond to this review and claim I had financial issues and will claim he called me to resolve them or whatever lie he can come up with next. It's been over 5 months and this whole situation still makes my blood boil. I wrote a review a few months ago and Dr. Spieler wrote back claiming his office "called me to explain and I had financial issues and hung up on them". It wasn't until I posted reviews of his business, then called him out when he lied in his response, he then had his assistant call me. His assistant didn't even let me speak before she told me why I needed to take my reviews down because Oasis is such "a reputable business." I regretfully took them down because only SHE sounded like a genuine person. For the record, I've never had financial issues. I was quoted over $700 "ball park estimate" that would be covered by insurance on top of the $360 I paid upfront at the appointment for two FILLINGS. I don't have financial issues, I have good insurance, and I'm an accountant and make more than enough to pay my bills and manage my money very well. I only learned the two teeth I had work done on were actually crowns after calling insurance and asking them to reprocess my claim because Oasis never did. The dentist I saw told me they were FILLINGS over and over again. I was estimated insurance would cover over $700 of the "fillings" and this estimate is on my consent forms and STILL on the shady bill I received. I knew my insurance covered fillings, so I never sweated anything or asked questions. My appointment was at 9am for a cleaning. I told my boss I was going for a cleaning and would be at work about 10-10:30. I left the office over 5 hours later with two "fillings" and a consent form, utterly exhausted. I refused a cleaning, which they only offered after my fillings, because my jaw hurt so bad I wanted to leave. I paid the $360 that was due during my visit. I got in the car with an entirely numb face and broke out in tears. I said to my boyfriend "this is why people hate the dentist." I also went home and slept for 3 hours and didn't go to work. Two weeks later, my next appointment for fillings was scheduled. I was not mentally ready to go through that hell again, so I called and asked for my appointment to be moved. Then, I received a bill in the mail for $150 due with the $760 Oasis "estimated insurance" still on it. Thinking it was a mistake because I already paid, I called their billing department and the receptionist informed me that I actually owed over $760. The entire bill was wrong and she kept telling to "add it up." I am an accountant and not one single line of the bill was correct right down to the services and payments. She was speaking to me like I was stupid. SHE then HUNG UP ON ME, because I told them $700 was not a "ball park estimate" of insurance and that their office was a scam and to cancel my appointments. Please note this bill was dated before my next appointment was scheduled. They KNEW insurance wouldn't cover my bill and they NEVER called or informed me that my next filling wouldn't be covered. They were going to let me come in and receive more services and bill me for every dime because I signed that CONSENT FORM. As I explained earlier, the price or cost was not the issue. This scam dentist was 100% the problem. Dr. Spieler needs to stop with the aggressive yelp review comments and take ownership of his terrible business model. Stop treating every single patient like money factories with consent forms and start treating them like people. Dr. Spieler is a pathetic, coward, keyboard warrior who is too scared to call his own patients, but claims to call them on his reviews. He claims he has a "30 year reputable practice." Yeah.... all 30 years before the internet existed. I told Kirsten, the assistant who pleaded I take my reviews down, that I would only remove my reviews if she spoke to and corrected her staff. Judging by the latest review, my requests were not heard. If I can save just one patient from giving Oasis their hard earned money with this review, I will feel better about wasting mine. Oasis Dental was an accidental find but I am sure glad I found them. The office staff is professional yet friendly. The office is clean and they have the latest equipment. I have experienced no pain and no wait. Unlike many dentist, they offer a payment plan. In addition, they have genuine concern for your oral health care. Can't ask for much more from a dentist. Everyone was pleasant, but very rough with my cleaning and exam. I'm an easy dental patient, being at the dentist does not bother me, but I had to repeatedly ask them to be more gentle and to take care. I came out with the biggest headache and ulcers throughout my mouth. Especially from the X-Rays - the machinery seemed ancient and the tools they were using (not sure what they were called) completely cut up my mouth. I'm switching to another dentist even though they are in my office building and convenient. Not sure if I just had a bad experience, but I am not taking any chances again. read more

I went to Oasis to get up to date with all of my dental needs before my insurance ran out, and spent close to $1500 getting lots of work done. Now I'm spending thousands of dollars to fix the problems that they created. I had to have an emergency root canal after they filled one of my teeth right up to the nerve. Needless to say, I'm having this work corrected by a different dentist. My new dentist immediately spotted the shoddy work I had done by Oasis, and I am still in the process of getting it all fixed and have no idea how much the rest of it will cost. While I was still going to Oasis, I had to come back to have my fillings adjusted three different times because I was experiencing pain when I tried to eat. Each time, I was treated like the pain was all in my head, and Dr. Spieler asked me on my final visit if I had ever heard of Aleve. That was his best suggestion, after leaving me in too much pain to eat comfortably for close to two months. I was never made to feel like I was a priority while I was a patient at Oasis, nor did I ever feel that I had the staff's full attention during my appointments. I found Dr.Spieler (Oasis Dental) while looking for a new dentist in Bala Cynwyd about eighteen months ago. He and his staff have been very professional, prompt and courteous during the many visits I made for cavities and caps. He uses the new digital systems and new cap inserts where appropriate. A cap is done in one visit .He stands by the new method quickly replacing a cap that didn't set right. My wife has also gone for a number of procedures and has had excellent results including a low interest billing plan. read more

Dr. Speiler has an amazing rapport with his patients; he's a very gentle dentist. But he did not seem to value our time. He took as long as he needed to on our teeth, and on the teeth of every other patient's there. He flitted back and forth between patients a lot while pain medication "set up." One of my eight or so appointments took two hours and I NEVER HAD ANY WORK DONE. That day their internet connection was down and so they had a hard time checking with my insurance as to the cost of the planned procedure. So I just went home. It was insane: I had to get a sitter and all for the joy of sitting in a dentist chair for a couple of hours to do nothing. I do understand that things happen, but I wish they would have sent me home immediately, or just called the insurance company on a cell phone! Every time I went there I was quoted one price for a procedure and then, after telling them to go ahead, the price we paid was higher. My husband and I have good dental coverage because we have five kids. We PAY FOR THAT COVERAGE every month, and to have the dentist charge us more EVERY TIME we go got to be ridiculous. On my second visit I asked about a teeth-grinding night guard and how much it might cost. He begged to show me the latest thing in night-time protection. It is called an NTI and fits over the front two teeth and was going to solve all my headaches and night-time grinding problems. He told me that my insurance would cover half of the $510. This is a TEENY TINE piece of plastic molded to my teeth and made right there in the office (why so expensive?). So I told him that our budget could cover $255 for something I really needed. He made it and I wore it faithfully. But the way I grind my teeth at night caused this tiny piece of plastic to start shifting my bite. My lower teeth have actually moved quite significantly (some over ¼ of an inch). Today I need braces because of this nifty NTI. AND! My insurance did not cover any of the price, so I got to pay for all of it. On 02/21/13, as I walked out of their office after a cleaning, x-rays, getting this NTI and having one tooth filled, they told me that the procedures I had done were all partially covered by my insurance and that today my part of the cost was $455 ($255 for the NTI and $76 for the cleaning and x-rays and $124 for the filling). I paid with my credit card. I found out when I called my insurance carrier that everything they had done was 100% covered except the NTI which was not covered at all. I never would have agreed to the NTI if I had known how much it was going to cost me. Every visit was like this. We would ask how much it would cost, they would tell us (after a long delay) and we would pick out the procedures we could afford to do at the time. Then later, I would get a big bill for much higher. At the end of 2014 I got tired of the sham and found a new dentist (whom I love!). When I got my first-ever root canal and crown the new office said that the insurance would not pay for this procedure because that tooth (the one I had drilled out) had already had a crown put on it. "No it didn't" I told the insurance carrier when I called them. "I have never had a root canal and crown done before - believe me, I would remember this four-appointment-horror-filled-ordeal!" The insurance company said that Oasis Dental had already billed them (and they had paid it) for 5 crowns that I never had. I had had work done on those teeth but Dr. Speiler had only drilled out old fillings, cleaned the decay under them, and then installed a new filling. I had never had a crown done at his office, but they had billed for it. That's called insurance fraud. Their office's practice of billing is highly suspect at best, downright fraudulent most likely. I feel like at have been swindled every time I went there. But I was afraid of having to find a new dentist, of not being able to afford to get new x-rays and all of that stuff. I let my fear keep me at that office for over 18 months and 8-10 visits (between my husband and myself). I cannot recommend that office to ANYONE, unless they have money to burn and don't mind getting taken advantage of financially. Dr. Speiler is very kind and sweet and a decent dentist. All the people who work at his office are super-nice, so nice that I let them con me for over a year and a half. But they are just not honest: DON'T GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE!! read more

OASIS is horrible! Do not go here. The office may seem clean and nice, however, for the past few years that I've gone there for an appointment, EVERY single appointment had the be 'rescheduled'. I saw Dr. Alldredge everything and everyone there was very nice, made me feel comfortable and I'm chemically sensitive they even turned off the candles the night before and didn't turn them on that morning knowing I had an appt. They took all new X-rays as part of being new patient and didn't charge me for them. I had a cleaning and a check up. I will be back, I found my new dentist! Happy smiles here! read more

This place is mainly about taking your money, the first time you visit them they make everything seem all good but in reality it's a myth. Warning. Do not become a patient in this practice. Four times I have requested my very expensive complete dental x-rays from them to be sent to another dentist--twice by phone and twice by fax. Dental records, by law, belong to the patient. Most recently I have sent yet another fax threatening to file in small claims court if they do not release the records to my new dentist. Dr Spieler's office called to confirm my son's apt (for the 2nd time). When I asked for an afternoon apt (which was why they were calling back) they indicated that they would not be able to accommodate me. When I asked why the receptionist put me on hold and said my son was too young to come to the practice. I said mam you called to confirm our apt, so why did you call to confirm. I spoke with the office manager to explain, she was unable to give us an apt after they already said my son could start at age 3. She also said I was welcomed to go to another dentist. I like the Oasis dental office, but I will say that I had two routine fillings done here and each became painful and then needed a root canal within a few weeks because the tooth had been damaged during the filling process. I also had root canal here and less than a year after the root canal (which cost me a thousand dollars out of pocket) I had to have the tooth extracted. I understand that this can happen, but I went into a lot of debt for the unsuccessful procedures. read more

Even though there was a dramatic change in the staff the office never missed a step in the care they provide. I have been a patient since 7/2015. At first I reported my service as Steller. But now, I am sorry I ever decided to give this practice any of my time or money. When you do not receive a copy of your proposed treatment plan because of the "computer being down", that is a red flag. They like to call you over the phone to discuss treatment and payment instead of doing this face to face while you are in the office. Ruth gives figures only and will state that she is only reading from her computer screen when you have questions. When they don't feel like answering billing questions they will simply state that the computers are down. She is also very rude and makes nasty comments about the patients. They only care about $$$$$. Dr. Speiler smiles in the faces of his patients and comes off very pleasant but uses his staff to relay his negative and nasty messages. Stating that you "don't have time for this... Don't even bring her name up... etc is unprofessional. He does not care about how the patients are treated by the staff because he only cares about the money. He refused to recharge my care credit for the correct amount when my treatment plan changed. If the amount is lower... My care credit account should reflect that. If issues are handled appropriately, maybe the patients will not request to have their records transferred. When you are spending time and money you have the right to ask questions and do not deserve to be ignored or passed around from person to person. read more

Dr. Spieler completely screwed me over with my Invisaligns. I paid in cash. Required $1000 upfront and was reassured that they would work with me since I was paying cash and that I could just make payments when I could. And that is what I did. The total cost was about $$5500. And it did take me about a year to finally get it down to $600 balance. All of a sudden they switched up on me. I had made friends with the dental assistant there since I was there so much, and the office receptionist had personal issues with this assistant. Because I was friends with her, the receptionist all of a sudden would treat me bad and would be extremely rude to me. I have never done anything to her for her to treat me this way. She suddenly did not want to work with me anymore when I wanted to make the usual $200 payment in exchange for my new trays. She demanded the whole $600 or she would not give me anything. I said this is absurb, "YOU were the one who promised to work with me to convince me to get these in the first place." She even went so far as to hide my trays so no one else in the office could give them to me. This was a huge problem especially because the current trays I was using had cracked so i could not use them. So I needed those next trays because using nothing was allowing my teeth to move back to where they were and her not giving me my trays was affecting my whole treatment. It was an emergency situation for me. At this point I requested to speak directly with Dr. Spieler. But she refused to put him on the phone! When I said that I would come into the office to speak with him since she refused to put him on the phone, she threatened to call the police on me!!!! I finally had to resort to facebook to reach out to the dr.to let him know the situation. He finally called me back and reassured me that he would work with me but he had to charge me extra for new trays. I agreed. A couple days later I received a letter in the mail saying that he was releasing me as his patient! $5000 later my teeth are still crooked and I am screwed out of my money. Dr. Spieler you know you did me wrong.I do not recommend this dentist or dental office at all. They are very unprofessional and treated me like crap. Stay away. read more

I had extensive...and EXPENSIVE... work done here several years ago. They recommended Care One Credit. I got it for thousands of dollars...and that was in addition to the thousands of dollars I paid in cash! After a few months, as my work was being done, and the doc was being ever-so chummy, I was prepared to make my designated payment to Care One. To my astonishment, when I opened my bill, it was almost DOUBLE my monthly amount due!!! WTF!!! Someone at this dental office applied for more credit on my account with Care One WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION!!! Who at this office would be capable...or able... to do such a thing? Hmmm... After a threatening phone call, the office reimbursed Care One the next day. I had to continue making my visits but didn't really want to. I was angry, hurt and disappointed. I'd even referred friends and family to this practice but that was before I found out about this DISHONESTY! I can't prove it, but I firmly believe that I had a perfectly good tooth PULLED to make way for an expensive replacement...which I never got...because that's when I learned of the DECEIT! Can't believe that I trusted this man. I'm sorry that I didn't write about this when it happened. I just wanted to forget about it. It was making me sick. I've told my story to several people, who it turns out, have also had bad experiences here of one kind or another. Doc, I know that you know who I am. You should be ASHAMED!!! But, my 88 year old aunt, who you also got over on, just prays for your soul. We both now have a REALLY good and HONEST dentist! read more
