For about a year, people around town were talking about this massage place that was never open; apparently they had issues with permits, and some other legal hurdles, but they're open!!! Apparently they've been open for a while now, I just didn't know. I was in so much pain last night, and didn't want to go to the food reflexology place because frankly; they can increase pain; as they aren't really massage therapists - so I called Oasis. It was 8 p.m., and I saw that this place was open until 10 p.m. One four minute phone call, and I was booked!! Upon entering, I heard a woman yell out a name, three times, and a woman appeared from down the hall, very sweet. I mentioned that I'd called and needed an hour of body work. She said "You pay credit card or cash now," that was a bit off putting, but I was in a LOT of pain. I paid cash, fifty bucks for an hour "massage" and she said "come on," pointed to a room, and said "I bring change" so, I was waiting, and waiting, and realized maybe this is where I'm getting massaged. There was a table, and some oil, lotion and alcohol, so, I undressed and got on the table, about ten minutes later, a woman came in, and put the change on the "dresser" where the oil, lotion and alcohol were. When I asked her name she said "Ashley," oddly enough, the license outside for the massage therapist did not have the name of Ashley, so I asked if she was the massage therapist, she said "yes" and removed the blanket, and placed a towel over my body, and started PUSHING on my back, and shoulders. Ten minutes (at least) went by, and I asked if she was going to be massaging the areas I'd discussed on the phone, upper back, neck, shoulders and clavicle, pectoral area, and she removed the towel, got the oil and started massaging my back. Very deep, but kind of all over the place with the massage, she focused on the areas I spoke of, worked about a minute on each leg, didn't touch my hands or my feet. Now, I know, this sounds awful, right? NOPE - not really, just not what I like in a massage (normally), but I left there like a pile of mashed potatoes and gravy!! I had very little pain, and felt so much better. I didn't write a review last night because by the time I got home, it took all I had left to brush my teeth and get in to my bed!!! I rarely sleep past 4 a.m., I slept until 7:15 a.m., that's how great this massage was; although it was a lot different than what I'm used to; I'll be back. The next time, I'll ask for an hour foot massage, and ONLY feet, because she's strong, and I know that for me, a food massage tends to release a lot of tension and pain in my body. Don't let the exterior fool you, this place is good, for fifty bucks plus a tip, there's no excuse not to get a massage now and then. read more

Second worst professional massage that I've ever had, otherwise I would have gone with 1 Star Both of my prior go-to massage places and therapists were legitimate, skilled and affordable, $50/hr + $20 tip and $60/hr + $20 tip, respectively. Unfortunately, the 1st lost their lease and the second changed ownership and my favorite therapist probably moved on to a better job. I have rotator cuff issues with both of my shoulders. About a month ago, I aggravated my left shoulder and I woke up unable to raise my left arm without pain. Part of my response was to get a massage from a legit but costly (compared to what I was used to) Thai massage place in Novato that made a noticeable difference and was very relaxing and pleasurable, real spa day for Tom, 5 Star. Two weeks later, shoulder is still bothering me but I can't justify another $110 so I look for something local that is a better value. I found Oasis via Google Maps and the associated Google reviews (wish that I had looked here, too) were good, so I rolled the dice on Oasis despite the happy ending place storefront and appearance of the Chinese speaking workers and committed to a hour session for $60. The climate was nice and cool on a hot day and music was nice but paper towel on the face cradle, the therapist spent a fraction of the total time on my problem shoulder (which I pointed out before and during), weak pressure despite asking beforehand for someone strong, no focus on knots, more of a back rub than a massage. I tipped $20 (on top off of $60) which was received with a "you've got to be kidding me" face. I didn't occur until I was driving home but she didn't even towel off the massage oil. The lady who did my massage did a terrible job. I keep on telling her and pointing to my lower back about 8x but she srill continues to massage my upper back and my neck which i have no issues with. What a waste of money. DONT COME HERE! read more

No complaints, very strong massage. I could barely handle it. Ouch and eek. But when she was finished. My back pain was dissolved. Looking for a legit massage place in Novato. Came upon Oasis in Yelp. I'm a bit wary at this point of "Asian" massage parlors in Marin. I was propositioned a couple of times years back in San Rafael and have been avoiding them. The reviews look legit though and places like Massage Heights are hard to get a last minute reservation to, and my neck was killing me. No problem getting a last minute appointment. Got sorted in my room quickly and put the towel over me... massage was great. Really good pressure, and technique was good. Alas, with about ten minutes left after I turned onto my back, she asks me if I want to be massaged "down there" (her words). I politely decline - not what I'm there for. And she finishes out my arms. Not sure if I just look like I need extra relief or something. Didn't even say anything during the massage except to indicate that the pressure was good. Anyhow massage is cheap and it did help my neck. I suppose there is a reason these places are cheaper and always available. Wouldn't feel right coming back now though. read more

I have lived in Novato for most of my life . I have read some the prior bad reviews . I don't understand how people can be so dishonest. I have going been for years since my back injury . I'm an athlete and i could not have been able keep going on if it were not for the professional staff at Oasis. They have help relieve my back pain and also tightness a stressing my muscles. They are a great value and have a friendly professional staff . Since comming here for a while I know the owner and she does not drive a Mercedes. She is down to earth and kind owns a small car. I just moved to Novato and I'm pretty much trying every massage place. Oasis is your basic storefront massage place. It's better to call ahead but they take walk ins. I had to wait 10 minutes for them to finish the last person but it was actually 10 minutes not wink wink it will be 5 minutes and it's actually 30. I appreciate the honesty. The place looks OK. Nothing fancy. The rooms are basic but fine. They have those walls that don't quite go up to the ceiling so you can hear people coming and going. It's not a "spa experience". This is for people who want a decent massage at an affordable price. And it delivers on that. My biggest problem (and most of why they didn't get the last star) is the noise. If you get some chatty person with a loud voice next to you it can be distracting. Luckily my back still feels great after either way. read more

Came here Tuesday July 16, 2018 for a 1:30 appt. Not sure what the name of the little lady that gave me the massage but let me tell you that it was incredible and the best massage I've ever had. I basically got my A$$ beat on that massage table. In a previous review someone mentioned that they left feeling like mashed potatoes and gravy. Yup, I'd def 2nd that description. I feel amazing. I went in with a enormous kink in my neck I've had for over a week and it was gone when I left. She was incredibly strong and gave me the hardest massage ever. I mean it can be painful for those who can't handle it but she can def dial back the pressure she applies. I'm laying on my stomach and no lie she straddled my back, dug her knees in and beat the crap out of me. It was amazing and I feel like a brand new human. I am def returning at least 1x weekly. After 10 massages you get one free. Since there is no website and I have not yet seen anyone post prices: 30 minute: $40 45 minute: $45 60 minute: $50 90 minute: $80 Combo (50 minute body + 20 minute foot...it might be 40 + 30, I can't remember): $85 I was a walk-in and asked for a 90-minute. The woman who greeted me was friendly, and said they couldn't do a 90-minute today for a walk-in because they were busy, but we could do an hour. Sounded good to me. I go dancing for hours at a time once a week and have an extremely physically-intensive job, so I needed something to soothe since I've recently been working more hours on top of dealing with the other stressors from work. In the past, I've always gone to a spa to get a massage, and considering those prices, I'd figured a regular (monthly) massage would be out of budget for a while, so the prices here were pleasantly surprising, and definitely affordable on a going basis. The massage itself was awesome; I've yet to have a massage that was "too hard" and unbearable, but with that said, Ashley is incredibly strong, and I actually felt like I was getting my money's worth with the pressure she was using. I've had a knot in my right shoulder that has been there since I played water polo in HIGH SCHOOL, and up until this point, I was resigned to the idea that it was just a permanent addition to my back. After today, I feel like that could change with regular visits. The biggest reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the ambiance. As I've said, I've usually gone to the spa where you get an actual room with a door when your massage is being done instead of a cut-out behind a curtain. I didn't feel like it wasn't private enough, but because it wasn't separated, anytime there is noise in the front room or the door opens, you hear it, and it puts a break in your relaxation vibes. I will be trying out Renovia as a point of comparison to see if that environment matches more what I'm looking for, but if not, I would not hesitate to come back here! Also, I saw other reviews mention that after 10 massages, the 11th is free. This was not mentioned to me, and when I asked Ashley about a loyalty program, she did not confirm (although I'm not entirely sure she understood what I was asking). This massage was great. They have honest pricing; no other price for none members. I had a terrible pain in my hip. This lady really worked on my hip area and finally got it to release. Best massage that I have had in this area. They will work just on your problem areas, and no trouble communicating where it hurts. Will definitely be back. read more

I came here a few days ago out of desperation . I've had a pinched nerve In my neck For over a month now. It's been causing numbness tingling and extreme pain in my arms hands wrists and fingers. I have tried the chiropractor several times, I have gotten Acupuncture several times, And none have helped me as much as Amy helped me in the one hour massage session here today. I am so grateful for the relief that she has brought me and I will most definitely be back. In addition to her hard work and great skills she was also extremely pleasant. In my opinion I got more than my moneys worth and I finally feel relief for the first time ,and I'm getting good sleep and have no more numbness. I tried it out late last week. I wasn't sure what to expect and was thrilled because it was the best massage I've had in Novato! Nina was strong and knew what she was doing. I made an appointment for a 90 minute massage. They called after awhile to reschedule me. I said no problem and I came in at the appointed time. I walked in and a woman came and looked at me. I said my name and appointment time and she O.K, you pay now. Very off putting, but I paid up front. I was shown to a room and I laid there waiting while I listened to her eat her ramen! I waited 8-10 minutes, it felt ridiculous to just lie there while she ate, I thought about leaving, but I really needed a massage. I specifically asked for her to concentrate on my hands, feet and head. She massaged my back for what I felt was a really long time, when I flipped over there was only 30 minutes left. I asked another 2 times for my hands, feet and head. She gave my hands and feet about maybe five minutes, like 2-3 minutes on each hand or foot. The other really strange thing that happened was she used this weird bamboo rolling pin thing that had long slits and very sharp edges on it. She used it only on the back of my legs. She was pushing so hard on the crease behind my knee I had to ask her to stop. I'm 60 and have been getting massages for over 30 years and I have never seen anything like it before. After she used it on one leg I actually asked to see it. It was super weird! When I was done I asked if she had two $10.00 dollar bills, she said yes. I gave her a $20.00 and she she said and I quote, "That's O.K. you don't need change. This is a good tip." I told her that $20.00 would be a really good tip and asked again for change. She stood and looked at me and said, "Are you sure because I give good massage, didn't you like your massage, you should give a good tip." I again asked for change and I'm not sure why I didn't just walk and give her no tip at all. I should have, but I hate being an asshole. She brought up change and gave me a five dollar bill and kept the other. I asked for it and she kept insinuating that I was insulting her massage skills. I've never been so uncomfortable in giving someone money before. I've worked in the service industry in a few jobs and I try to tip well, but she was aggressive. I ultimately tipped $15.00 and I'm kicking myself that I allowed myself to be intimidated. I'm sure they're not declaring any cash income to the IRS , so that's a roughly 25-30% increase in income, so the $90.00 with a $15.00 tip I paid actually comes out to roughly $130.00. I would like to be bitter and get another massage and walk out without tipping, but that's just a fantasy, because I'm not a jerk. I have learned my lesson and will never go there again. I have been a regular patron of Oasis Massage for approximately 2 1/2 years. The ladies whom work there, Nina, Ashley and Amy, are always extremely warm friendly and attentive. Each one of them are excellent massage therapists. Never have I had cause for complaints, only compliments on "another massage well done!" I almost always get the 1 hour, $50.00 massage; never have I been asked for "more of a tip" from any of the three. There is a good and legitimate reason for this. The reason is because the massage is so good that I always tip at least $20.00 (40% of $50.00). A good massage is very hard work and, they work very hard. I went in for 30 minutes on my upper back and a little bit of focus on my sacrum. She used firm pressure which I was scared of but I'm a massage therapist myself and I know my back needed it. She used lots of different techniques including her Palms fingertips forearms elbows and at one point got on the table with me to apply pressure into my sacrum. My tip to you is, breathe deep and let her do what she needs to do. You will feel so good when you get up! read more
