First time here for a U-HAUL event it was nice, they had a rooftop where you can take your drinks outside and smoke also have a bar on the roof. They're pretty spacey so there was plenty of room. BUT there is only one bathroom.. plenty of stalls though. Will come again on a ladies only event. The music though, was alright. read more

This place is a godsend. After living in the burbs where traffic prevents me from heading out to West Hollywood, my gay life has been REVIVED by Oasis. They have so many top notch performers, with regular drag celebrities! Going to see Alaska Thunderfuck soon and they also have lots of other shows with RuPaul regulars. I went to their Bjork night and it was so much fun!! Not only was it incredibly artistic and moving for a drag show, the performers were also so talented with their gymnastics and acrobatics. Elle-Oh-Elle is a great host and kept the crowd laughing, playing games, and enjoying themselves. Great crowd here, lots of POC, people that are down to dance and have a good time. Coat check is $3 and drink prices are okay, more expensive than cheap mission bars, the same price as more upscale mission bars. (For the record: OutinTech ever hosts an event here again, I do not recommend going. This is nothing against Oasis, just OutinTech, for somehow putting on the whitest event in Mission history in the typically diverse crowd of Oasis. Bad.) read more

First time here it was a great experience the drag queens are very talented. I wish they had more seats available... you stand to watch the mother show... And I'm vertically challenged at 5'3 so if I you arrive late and end up in the back you literally cant see anything. We had an unfortunate encounter with other people attending the mother show the second time we where here. They cussed at us and told us we where pieces of crap (keeping it PG) for bringing in a dog in a loud environment. We as service dog owners made sure that the dog was not uncomfortable at all times and as a matter of fact the dog was sleeping and to top it off is a licensed service dog. When we tried to explain they shut us up and just kept flipping us off and cussing. We eventually walked away from the front of the stage and had to watch the show from a tv they have in the back that isn't the best of quality, for the money I paid it's not worth it. Because of the type of non understanding people that attend this venue we will not be attending here again. Unfortunate for the great show they do put on. read more

Really amazing shows with great talent, cheap drinks before 11pm and a clean environment. Coat check person was rude, but bartenders and security were fast and polite. More importantly, the princess party had a super welcoming and kind crowd--some people dressed up but most were casual. read more

I was visiting San Fran, I came with a friend for Hedwig and Buffy the Vampire Slayer Live at the Oasis popped up on my FB newsfeed. Thank. God. Because the show was amazing and killer! The cast absolutely slayed it and had us laughing so hard every five seconds. We had a GREAT time. The bar is nicely sized, and they had all kinds of shows listed coming up and all I have to say is if any are as good as Buffy, go. Check it out. The drinks were great, and the staff was awesome. This was not my first time there as I am a local. The front door man (lanky bearded chap) told us explicitly on a Friday night that there was a show on.... Once in, after paying cover with 4 of our friends and paying for coat check, we get told that there is no show... Ok that sucked, but ok let's stay positive and enjoy the DJ who was really good by the way! Last call at 1:30am... Ok cool grabbing a last drink. Comes 1:57 and a lady that worked there walks up to us with a trolley and grabs our drinks away from our hands with no heads up what so ever... Conclusion: Lying at the entrance Stealing our drinks before 2am with no heads up... What is happening to San Francisco? That's BS.... read more

The night started off with a nice welcome by the door-woman...good dance music...then the show started, and after a few good performances, things took an odd turn. It quickly turned into the worst experience in a gay club I've had in ages. We paid for tix for a night where evidently the performers throw/squirt things on the audience. NO warning at the door, on the tix, online, nor before the show started by Heklina herself. None of us in the front area knew... easily over 15-20 people around us had their clothes, skin, bags, jackets all damaged/stained by a couple of so-called performers (frankly gave a bad rap to the others who did a good job). We were all complaining, made our way to the bathroom, etc...it was obvious we weren't happy and all caught off-guard. The manager initially gave us attitude for even complaining and wouldn't give us information on how to formally complain. Oddly enough, that very night (just before mother's day), they kept showing shorts on the screen of people being bullied in movies, having things thrown at them, and so forth...and the irony is that once the show started, they themselves did so to their paying audience. To pay to have sugar, fake blood, etc. thrown/dumped at you is unprofessional, high-school, and bizarre. It wasn't entertainment. We left, and about a dozen others did as well. We went here just after it opened to support fellow gay business owners. Especially those just getting started. However the thanks shown for from fellow gay men in supporting this ' business ' was the poorest, most pathetic expression of gratitude. I was embarrassed for them. We walked away literally with $100s of dollars worth of damage to our clothes, as did many others, incurred by grown adults. I would never go back, nor recommend it either. There are dozens of other entertaining drag shows/acts in SF...where they entertain the audience, respect the audience, and provide a quality show to the paying client, vs the contrary. read more

Went to Oasis to see Lady Bunny who did not disappoint, however I cannot say the same for the venue itself. My boyfriend left his debit card with the bartender after purchasing a round for the two of us. He purchased another round from a different bartender who told him that they couldn't find his card, but to come back later and close out after the show had ended. After the show we both went up to the original bartender and my boyfriend asked him to close out his tab, when the bartender snapped at us saying "I don't have your card". He quickly proceeded to ignore his request and asked me if I would like a drink when I replied "Im with him." After that it was clear he was irritated by us and his attitude quickly escalated saying that he didn't have the card and that my boyfriends name wasn't in their system. On that note we decided to leave, and perhaps came to the conclusion that somehow his card had been misplaced and could have been lost/stolen during the show. As we were walking to the exit, we were forcefully asked to leave by security saying that the bartender had a drink thrown at him by my boyfriend. Which, just for the record, never happened. I was shocked that a business would treat someone that way for simply asking for their own belongings back, and how the whole situation had turned into big mess. I won't go back based off of how terrible their customer service was and how mistreated we were that night. read more

The $20 Red Bull & [well] Vodka. I remember it very well... I left incredibly pissed off because this was now the 3rd time this has happened to me. It was April 10th, the show was Dragula (love me some Boulet Brothers). Anyhow, after I checked my coat and bag I headed off to order a beverage; a Red Bull & vodka (I'd been up since 5am and needed a lil boost). I watched the bartender pour a very week beverage and I know this cause they use clear SOLO cups that have the measurement lines on them. Yes folks, the cup was filled with ice, vodka was filled the the bottom line which is 1oz without ice and then literally topped off with Red Bull. I was charged $12 for this. Foolish me should have refused the drink and left. Oh no, so I went back and asked for one more shot of vodka, and he charged me $7.00, and stupid me paid it. I'll still go to the Oasis, I'll just never pay them for a drink again. Do yourself a favor and visit one of the many fantastic bar's in SoMa for a pre-cocktail before heading to the Oasis. read more

Had a decent night with Lady Bunny and Heklina, but was left soured when a friend was mistreated by staff. He left his debit card at the bar to keep a tab open, but when he went to try to close his tab, twice he was told they didn't have his card. The second person who he spoke to took everything unbelievably personally even though my friend was patient, understanding and clearly embarrassed. Instead of even bothering to ask any of the other bar staff to help solve the problem, he threw a ton of shitty attitude at us, and the second we had turned our backs he informed security that a "Robert" - not my friend's name - had thrown a drink at the bartender, and we were thrown out! (Not that it mattered, we were leaving anyway.) The entire situation was ridiculous. My friend just wanted to get his card back and close his tab, and instead he was left humiliated and having to cancel his debit card, with zero sympathy from the staff or any effort to solve the problem on their end. Not a terrible venue but I won't be back. There is no reason to go here and put your personal belongings at risk with a staff who couldn't give less of a shit. read more

After years of bringing oodles of awesome drag performances to San Francisco, Heklina and D'Arcy Drollinger have banded together to open up a new drag/cabaret/performance venue called SF Oasis!! At a time when drag and gay bars are closing at a painfully rapid rate around San Francisco (farewell, Esta Noche, adios, Lex!), a lot of us in the community were BEYOND thrilled to hear that these two grand empresses of the queen community were opening something new, something that would offer a permanent home to San Francisco's drag community! They just opened on New Year's Eve, and I just went for the first time the other night for Trixie Carr's MANEATER: A Tribute To Hall & Oates...and it was EPIC!!!!! Trixie Carr, for those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing her perform before, is a faux queen (as in, she's female, and also dresses up in drag as a drag queen). She's been part of Heklina's old-time Trannyshack crew and part of other shows, such as Heklina's "Sex and the City" run. What I hadn't realized is that she's an extraordinary singer, too...I'd put her on par with the pipes of Lady Gaga! When I arrived, I had no idea what to expect, but it turned out to be a concert, with a band and queen and faux-queen back-up singers. Trixie is an electric performer, fascinating and completely enthralling, and the show felt very intimate. The audience was very enthusiastic, and was full of familiar faces, lots of friends and fans alike who are all really anxious to see this experiment of a new club succeed...and if this show was any indicator, yes, this club is and will be a huge success!! The club itself is large, has two main rooms, and is WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE, with the exception of the bar in the back, larger performance room, which is up one step...but that's okay, because there are cocktail servers to get you your drink (an out-of-drag Heklina was my cocktail server for the evening!! How divine :) ). The woman who took my cover went out of her way to make sure that I was seated in a comfortable spot with good visibility of the stage - it's little details like that that mean so much to me! The space is big, the acoustics are good, the stage is fantastic, and the sound system sounded great, not garbly or distorted, like so many other venues. I ordered a Malibu & pineapple with a splash of grenadine (a "Tahitian Kiss", Dahling!), but was informed they didn't have Malibu...oh, well, nothing's perfect, and they did have spiced rum, which will do in a pinch! Otherwise, both of my drinks were hefty in size and perfectly balanced and delicious...and at $8 for a specialty cocktail, so much cheaper than so many of the other newer restaurants and bars popping up in San Francisco! I really didn't know what to expect when I came to SF Oasis, because as someone who uses a mobility device, I always worry about accessibility, difficulty maneuvering crowds, and possible attitude from staff who see a wheelchair or motorized scooter as an annoyance...but that was the antithesis of my experience at SF Oasis!! They were VERY accommodating of wheelchairs, and that fact alone makes me love them!! But add to that a great show, an appreciative staff/performers, great drinks at a reasonable price, and a nice-looking venue, and I have to say, this is probably my new favorite club in San Francisco! I'll definitely be back, probably to check out the rebirth of Trannyshack as the new weekly show "Mother"!! I highly recommend this new drag club and wish it great success!!! read more

I tend to gravitate toward gay bars that have a sense of community, and Oasis has this in spades. Co-owners Heklina and D'Arcy not only put on dazzling shows; They spend hours in the bar mingling with customers, serving us drinks, and making us feel -- or at least me -- like I'm hobnobbing with local drag luminaries. On that note, too: can't say I'm the biggest fan of a lot of drag today. Throwing dollar bills at queens while they lip sync in sequin dresses gets monotonous. That's where Oasis stands out, putting on iconic cabaret shows that focus on campy dialogue and banter, like Sex and the City, Shit & Champagne and its follow-up, Champagne White and the Temple of Poon. And yes, these are seated shows, unlike its well-known weekly revue "Mother" aka "Trannyshack," which is standing. Bartenders know what's up and care about the quality of their drinks. Worth noting that this isn't Castro; drink prices are about what you'd expect in SoMA, which ain't that cheap. But they do take credit cards ($20 minimum) and host a $10 rooftop beer bust (plus additional $$ for BBQ, om nom) that's among the best deals I've heard in the city. SF Eagle -- also a great bar -- does $12 for all you can drink beer and BBQ, but the beer is only bud light. Bathroom is a long dungeon that's co-ed and has multiple toilets with doors -- real ones, not stalls -- that lock. "You could totally have sex in there!" my friends tell me. Uh. Yes. I hope that's at least a little bit the point? You can't beat the privacy though, and I've never had to wait in line. Can't end the review without mentioning the event that got me hooked on the bar, Sexitude, a monthly evening dance party where you're taught basically the the gayest routines on the planet while pausing for tequila shot breaks. This class has various forms twice a week in the daytime in San Francisco, but the Oasis evening Sexitude has been one of my top favorite activities in more than four years I've lived in this city. read more

I love Heklina, and I love Oasis. I've been a fan since it opened. However, after tonight I have very mixed feelings. I bought two drinks from the bar, gave the bartender my card, and then asked to keep it open. 45 minutes later, I came back for drinks, and was told they didn't have my card. The woman bartender was kind enough to tell me just to come back for my tab after Lady Bunny's show. I came back after the (hilarious) show, asking to close out my tab. I went to my original bar tender, and he very rudely told me "I don't have your card." He then asked the person standing next to me (while attempting to ignore me) "what do you want to drink?" and the person next to me said "I'm with him" (my boyfriend). The bartender, very flustered, and irritated, proceeded to give a perfunctory glance over the bar, and rudely said again "I don't have your card." At this point I was resigned to the fact that my card had been lost (and it really may not have been the bartenders fault -- it was hella busy!), so I made my way to coat check to pick up my backpack and go home (while trying to cancel my card). As I was putting on my backpack a bouncer pushed me backwards and rudely said "Get out." Aghast, I said "Excuse me? what do you mean?" He asked "Your name is Robert?" I said "No, my name is Christopher, and I have no idea what you're talking about, and I'm leaving right now anyways." The bouncer proceeded to inform me that, unbeknownst to myself, I had (apparently) thrown a drink in one of the bartenders faces, and while my name wasn't Robert, he didn't believe me anyways and I needed to "Get the fuck out now." Never mind the fact that three of my friends had been watching the entire time while I asked the bartender about my missing card. No drinks were thrown. I left Oasis in tears. I have never been so rudely brushed off (about a missing card) and so roughly manhandled as when I was trying to leave Oasis. Especially at a place that I had just brought all my friends to for Lady Bunny and Pride (and Heklina!). A place I cherished because it was Heklina's place, and I LOVE Heklina! I felt humiliated, and I felt that my (hitherto) happy Pride memories were tarnished. I can't help by keep my positive feelings towards Heklina and the work she's doing at Oasis. i just wish that my missing card wouldn't have been brushed off so lightly, and then made into a vindictive pretext to expel me from the bar by a bitter bartender. My boyfriend and I came for the New year's celebration 2018-2019. It was very nice!! I've been to this venue before but it's so much nicer when they have some lights on!! It really makes the space feel huge! The complimentary cocktail, and rooftop area were a really nice start to a classy and fun night! Lots of cute boys, and everyone was friendly :) Before the show started we had a very fun dance floor with fantastic music! The show was great!! And after the show a great countdown with champagne and then of course, more wonderful music!! We danced the night away, and I'm definitely excited for next year also! I've attended with both straight and gay friends and (given that we were not part of a drunken bachelorette horde) no one felt out of place or shunned. With so many queer bars closing and being taken over by the latest (repetitive) reclaimed wood, artisan cocktail menu concept, it's refreshing that a couple of drag queens and two other business partners have banded together to create a bar-cum-performance space in SOMA. There's a proper stage with a grand piano for live performance, a huge seating area/dance floor, plus the Fez room, an alternate space that complements the main room. Heklina's revived her weekly drag show (now called Mother), D'Arcy Drollinger is putting on shows like Shit & Champagne and crazy fun events like Sexitude PM, with recurring parties including Polyglamorous and Swagger Like Us. All kinds of amazing. Also, I haven't done a hardcore cost comparison but I think they have the least expensive drinks on 11th street. read more

Every employee I encountered was very friendly. It's a cute cabaret space. Drinks were marked up quit a bit. $9 for a hornitos and soda and unfortunately the soda won that battle. $11 for a sapphire martini up, but the pour on that was worth the price tag at least. Just what the City needed. Great performance space, great vibe, friendly staff, cool crowd. I've been twice and was impressed by what a cross section of society came out to be entertained. There is no attitude here, so if you love drag, no matter where you come from, you'll be welcome here. The only negative was at the last show I attended the staff were eating burgers in the bar taking up prime seating before the show. Since there is no where else to wait before the show starts other than the lounge, I found it a bit odd that the staff was taking up the majority of the space. My friend and I had a fabulous evening at the oasis. We saw Sex and the Cuty, and as a huge fan of the show, the cast nailed it. All the performers were beyond great. Loved the raunchy humor and the actors ability to include the audience. I would highly recommend The Oasis for any special occasion or just because you feel like it. I will be back. read more

You have to be kidding me with this. I went to the opening of "Mother" and thought that I was in for some over the top experience based on the hype that was being posted. I was on the fence, but a group of friends insisted we go to the "big opening". I have seen it all, including the days of Trannyshack. My friends and I were excited to support a new venue, and Heklina. But the night was the same old numbers and queens you can see by throwing a dart at a drag bar. Weak drinks and way over priced. And the bartenders should really lose their attitudes. They ignored a girlfriend of mine who waited for several minutes while I walked up and flashed my pecs and got our drinks right away. Still while ignoring my friend Mia. Good for a queen trying to make something for herself, but at 15 bucks for a basic and mediocre at best show, where the host is one of the weakest when it comes to look and performance. I liked Trannyshack better when it wasn't pretending to be something so pretentious. Over-priced and over hyped, but best of luck. read more

I've been there for shows, dancing, and roof-top chilling with views of the city and never have I been let down. I have been fortunate to be there when top celebrities have shown up for one of the hilarious parody shows regularly running. Oasis has, in a very short time, made a name for itself around the globe. Once upon a time around 1998, this was the site of the awesome, the incomparable V-SF, which stands in my memory as the most unique of all club venues of those times--a world unto itself. Nowadays when a club does mist effects, a little spritzer thing on the wall will puff out a token amount of smoke that drifts around for 5 minutes, but at V-SF they somehow accumulated a vast mass of mist in an adjacent room, and then released it in an opaque rolling fog bank that completely submerged the entire mainroom so densely that people were seen only as silhouettes against the fog-filtered, unusual, and artistic lighting effects--except for the brilliantly-illuminated lady in the center of a sun icon projected on the floor, reaching dreamily for the golden rays slanting down through the haze... ah well, you had to be there. : ) Now apparently, even before it was V-SF this space was called Oasis and was a legendary part of old-school SF. But that closed and so did V-SF and the various other clubs that lived in this building off and on thereafter. The old metal V-SF sign hung sadly over a closed door and a derelict facade for many years. Yet now it seems the Oasis has been reincarnated in this venerable space! The interior seems to have been remodeled from the V-SF days when a DJ stood at a lectern before ranks of disciples on a sunken dance floor. There's a real DJ booth, a real stage, and plenty of room--a relief by comparison to the gridlocked dive bars near by. Yay for the return of Oasis! Let's hope that this space becomes accessible to CERTAIN 80's PARTIES that have had to squeeze into the aforementioned dive bars since Bootie took over Saturdays at DNA several years ago and forced everyone else out. read more
