    Steakettes & Fries...
    Jeff B.

This review will be in two parts. And yes, this place is still cash only... Had lunch here to start a getaway weekend, and it was so in my wheelhouse. It wasn't too busy, and we could engage with the locals who were there at the time, etc. Nice place. Marveled at our bartender/cook (Mike) who got called in at the last minute and run the lunch crowd, not stop moving for the entire hour and half we were there. He's ten years older than me, and looks ten years younger than me. Gimme a double-shot of that DNA, please. Enjoyed their vaunted Double Cheeseburger, and it was satisfying. It wasn't 'hand-pressed,' as may have been the case in years past, but it was still a solid sender for beef flavor, and the Wifey's choice of Steakettes were far more tender than we expected. Darned good bar lunch. Cut to later in evening. We got 86'd from the tribe casino, for nothing other than pissing off the bar manager by being happy people. The younger crew we were chatting with there wanted to keep the fires burning--since we all were cut off--so we suggested Oasis. Holy crap, it was packed. If you are of middle age, like myself, and you would like to party like it's 1999, this is a place to hit up in this small town. We walked in and I was bemusing, 'Oh man, here we go.' The piped in music was horrible, but it didn't matter. Everyone was laughin', movin', enjoyin' the moment. Small towns bars are fun. Rather unique and diverse crowd. Glad I could recapture a younger version of myself, even for one night. To quote Toby Keith: 'I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once, as I ever was...'

This is definitely a locals bar. When walking in with our motorcycle gear there was a lot of staring. All good though as it seemed like a nice crowd. We asked the waitress/bartender/cook what was good and she said the cheeseburger. Cheeseburgers around the table then and make mine a double. We also ordered a basket of fries and a soda. The Oasis looks like a dive bar on the outside and although the furnishings are old inside it was very clean. There are a handful of 4 seater tables, one long table with stools, and bar seating. There is a pool table, dart board, and juke box as well. The burgers and fries were delivered in short order and looked very good. The burger patty was nice and thick with a nice crust on the outside and juicy inside. It was covered with a perfectly sized sesame bun and the veggies (pickle, tomato, & onion) are already loaded on the burger. The cheese was perfectly melted over the patty. It was as good as it looked. The fries looked really good too but unfortunately we're not cooked quite long enough for me and were a bit soggy. Soda is purchase by the can for $1.50. We'll definitely be back for burgers in the future.

Decent burger bland flavor, fries were chewy, onion rings were burnt, all 6 of them. Very Greasy.

Not sure what's going on at the management level but the new server could stand to be a lot more friendly

Always great. Oasis sticks to the basics and has the best burger & beer deal in Eastern Washington

The young lady server (AT), was absolutely the worst we've experienced in a long time. She actually served a chicken sandwich that was very burnt... she should have refused it from the kitchen... it was like trying to eat the driest burnt jerky you can find. She said no problem I'll get it replaced with a good one... she brought a new fried chicken patty that wasn't as burnt, but still very dry. $16 for a chicken sandwich! ... we could've gotten a tastier one at a gas station ... and it would've been less expensive. Ordered a sandwich... which had the choice of fries, potato salad (she said they were out of potato salad), onion rings, and a few other sides... she added a charge on our ticket for the onion rings?! She asked me if I wanted more water after I finished eating my food... other than being way late with the gesture... I joyfully said, "Yes, I'd love some more water!" ... she responded with, "Okay, I'll be right back with some water!" ... yet, the water was never delivered... in fact, she never again showed up to our table... not even with a ticket. So, we went to the front counter to pay... and a young man server said, she'll be right here to get your payment... 5+ minutes later she comes wandering in and takes the card, and hands back the card with a single copy of the receipt, and walks off saying thanks. So we signed the bottom with zero tip... and she didn't seem to be returning, so, we tore the signature area from the bottom of the receipt, and left with the receipt in hand. Just knowing that such a person is allowed to serve food at the Rusty Putter, is good enough reason to never return there again... or, until she no longer works there.

My Turkey Club was pretty epic, size-wise, and the Tomato Basil side was actually quite good. Wifey was less satisfied with her French Onion, but it was more the portion than the flavor. All in all, a necessary meal to soak up the early evening's libations. Our visit deteriorated from that point on, but I sure can't fault the kitchen staff for a testy bar manager's attitude. And the other half of my sammie made for a nice end to a rather bacchanalian evening. At least I think I ate it? Wink wink...

Servers would stand to make more tip by actually waiting tables...but here you go to the counter and order at the register and they bring it to you instead. The overall feeling of this establishment is a snack bar not a diner restaurant that has prime rib on the menu. Getting your own drinks seems like a waste of money with the cups. Anyway, the food was okay. I think its too much bacon for a clam chowder lol like where was the clam just call it bacon chowder lol. Patty Melt was decent but I think the grilled onions need to be grilled more its like they barely touched the grill. My biggest gripe for me is the ranch.. thats the worst ranch Ive ever tasted. Please just buy hidden valley ranch seasoning then add mayo sourcream milk etc and dont mess with the flavoring too much your ranch was too sour (lemon?) or way expired lol... People seem to like to hang out way after they are done eating mostly an older crowd. Service was polite.
