She gave really good recommendations on the drink menu and helped us decide when we were in a tough spot to pick some of our sushi rolls. This place is perfect to meeting with friends or even a date night. The back or the restaurant is dark, but in a good way. They also had live music Saturday night (not sure if this is every night). It was a good volume, until they went back to the restaurant music and then it got LOUD. Not too bad, just was shocked that it was so loud. For food we started with my fave, miso soup. After that we had the Chirashi. It was a nice assortment and a good start to dinner. Next we did the Dragon Roll, a classic and they didn't disappoint. We had a couple mocktails and drinks and were able to chitchat before trying the Marisol Roll which was amazing! Lastly, we wrapped up the night with the Earl Grey Crème Brûlée, a great sweet treat. Maybe we haven't been saying it enough but the Ballston-Rosslyn corridor NEEDS a good sushi spot! Having only tried a couple items so far I'm still confident this may be it thanks to the team behind our area's Sisters Thai spots. On both visits I had the toro tartare on the specials menu and have tried the tequila-based City Runner spicy marg 2x now. There is something for all drinkers though, and lots of food selection. The atmosphere is chill, with great decor and thoughtful lighting and as the name suggests, bartenders always have a record going. The front room is largely the bar with high tops up front. They've put a cozier dining room in the back room. Great spaces for a friend catch-up or date. Since taking over the space from Cava, I also appreciate the bathroom upgrades. read more

Top tip: you can pick your vinyl records from their collection and hand them to the bar at 5...they play them until 7, and the live music begins. Daily lunch from 11-2, and happy hour from 3-6. Service is incredibly friendly. All staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks are very good! Sushi is very good, and don't shy away from the specials... Decor is beautiful and comfortable...look for hidden details...like the ping pong table. Booths are more intimate and private, and decorated with vinyl records. The food at Oasis Listening Bar was genuinely excellent. Every dish we tried was flavorful and well executed, and the ambiance is beautiful. It's a really unique spot in DC and the music driven atmosphere makes it feel special. Unfortunately, the end of the experience was uncomfortable. When I paid the $120 bill I didn't include a tip on the card. The staff member questioned it at the register and I said I would leave cash. When I realized I didn't have the right amount of cash, I left without tipping. As we were leaving, the staff member approached my friends outside and said that I hadn't tipped, which required me to come back inside and handle the situation. That felt awkward and unnecessarily confrontational. I still think the food and atmosphere are great, but the way the tipping situation was handled made the end of the evening uncomfortable. I hope the restaurant can address that, because otherwise it's a really enjoyable place. read more

This is some of the freshest sushi I've had in Arlington. They have a variety of sushi and sashimi options. Large selection of Japanese Whiskeys. The cocktail menu was themed to songs, which was a great touch! It's on the pricier side, but worth it for the ambiance and music. Regular rolls average around $12 and specialty rolls averaging around $28 per roll. Cocktails are about $18-32. The front of the restaurant has a large, beautiful bar. In the back room are booths nested into cubbies surrounded by vinyl records. We had an incredible live music performance during dinner on a Monday night. I had the paradise roll very flavorful would definitely get it again! The chirashi bowl was phenomenal. The new style hamachi was not as good as I expected, but worth trying once if you really enjoy hamachi. I think the food is maybe a touch expensive; you can get similar dishes for a marginally more affordable price outside Arlington. Oasis is an Arlington gem! I met up with a college friend on Saturday evening. We figured Oasis was owned by the same people who run Sisters Thai because of the same marquee over the bar. The restaurant consists mainly of bar and small table seats. Unlike other reviews, our server was attentive all night. We both ordered the City Hunter (twice, lol). The spiciness of the jalapeño-infused tequila mixed with the guava puree was mind-blowing. We both agreed our second drinks tasted even better. The shrimp tempura rolls were filling, and the teriyaki salmon with mixed vegetables and rice was so delicious. The highlight of the night was by far the Basque cheesecake. We couldn't stop gazing at how it was presented, from how it was shaped with the indentations on the sides, the burn marks along the top, and the blueberries on top with sauce underneath. I've been to this place twice and I can say that they have some of the freshest sashimi in the area. All the fish is clearly very fresh and cleanly prepared and the flavors are great. The ultimate winner for me is their chirashi which I got both times I went. The variety of sashimi is really good and there is an abundant amount of food. The service is excellent- I asked for the salmon in the chirashi to be replaced with a white fish and they had no problem doing this. They are also very attentive to each table without being overwhelming. The interior of the space is adorable! Perfect for a date night or just to eat alone with good vibes. The service here greatly decreases my score. The sushi itself is great! Albeit pricey, but worth it. I came in with a reservation and was lead back and forth from the front of the restaurant to the back until they finally gave us a booth to sit in. Our waitress spoke to us once and I never saw her again after this until the check came. After 10-15 minutes of waiting, another waitress noticed our impatience and took our orders. Our entire dinner took almost two hours--majority of which was waiting for someone to acknowledge our presence. While I liked the sushi, I don't know if I can handle the miscommunication and lack of preparation from the staff. I'd rather have cheap sushi with more attentive people. read more

This is a listening bar. Music is a major part of their bar. Beautiful decor with lots of vinyl. 1. Reservation: required especially if you plan to arrive after 5PM. 1.5 hours maximum per table! 2. Food: sushi restaurant with excellent sushi, which I didn't think they would have that good of a sushi. 3. Dessert: They have crème brulee, chocolate lava cake and usual cakes but nothing Japanese like mochi. 4. Drinks: very good, super small in quantity with more than 70% of the glass is ice. However, very delicious. But you will need at least 2-3 glasses of drinks at $18+ per drink. 5. Live music starting 7PM on Friday. A guy would be playing a piano and singing occasionally. Cool spot that opened in Clarendon! We didn't have a reservation but went early to put our name down, which got us a ressy at 9pm which we didn't mind. That being said, they never mentioned the table would be outside in the back. We asked them to move us inside when we realized this. One , it was chilly and two, it's a listening bar we wanted to be inside to listen to the music. They were able to accommodate us and we sat in the bar area which was way better! We got a bunch of sushi and all of them were delicious! Really good quality sushi and the flavors were amazing! Definitely want to go back and try some other rolls. I have been really excited to try out Oasis after seeing countless tik toks about it. I decided to go around 7 pm with 2 of my friends this past Thursday. I know how busy it was when it first opened so wanted to wait a few weeks before going. We did not have a reservation, which next time i'll know to do that beforehand. They were busy for the most part but it seemed like no new tables were coming in except for our party of 3. It looked like everyone sitting already had their food in front of them and well into dinner. We got sat instantly, however, it took around 10 minutes for us to be greeted. I understand with how busy it is that that happens, however, our server brought us water at the 10 minute mark but didn't introduce themselves so we did not want to assume it was our server so we waited for a few more minutes until they came back and asked what we wanted. They were very nice! We got the lychee martinis, avocado salad, tuna tat tar, and shrimp tempura to share. The lychee martini was cool looking, but it sadly tasted like syrup and was a little difficult to drink. The food was good, but for appetizers the portions were very small. When i think of apps i think enough to feed at least 2 people, but i could eat this as one person and still be hungry, it looks more like a side than an app. This all came out to $45 a person with tip. I would say this is a good spot for jazz vibes - they have live performances and love the theming of the place with Japanese records and aesthetic. I also like the drinks here too! I got the Fuji Kaze which was a strong matcha/yuzu drink with gin. They are around $20 which is typical around this area I'd say. The food on the otherhand, I'd say isn't worth it. Lots of the food has mentions of truffle, foie gras... mentions of 24K gold. The portion sizes aren't worth the price in my opinion, and the small sushi rolls can be over $30. My roll was over $30 for five pieces and I would say it wasn't anything jaw-dropping. My squid appetizer was very small for the $15 price. I also enjoyed the earl grey creme brulee here. Service was okay, I would say it was rather slower than what I would have liked. Overall, I'd come back to this place for drinks and vibes. I came with a group of ladies for a girls night. The ambience when entering the restaurant was great and the decor gives a cool vibe. We were a bit unsure of what made the restaurant a listening bar - there were plenty of vinyls on the walls for decor and a dj setup but throughout the evening we just heard general restaurant music. We noticed pretty quickly that service was slow as the restaurant was packed and they seem to be pretty new. Each order we made took longer than average to come and it seemed like our sushi was forgotten about after checking in with the staff. Our reservation was at 7pm and we didn't eat until about 8:30pm. Separately, each time an item was dropped off to our table, the staff member could not name the different items (specifically naming fishes on the nigiri & sashimi platters). Overall the food and drinks were delicious. The quality of the sushi was noticeable. We came in for a date night, really looking forward to the trendy vibes and some good sushi. The front area has a large bar while the back is darker and more intimate, great for the listening bar vibe. The booths are the place to be and gives you some space from your neighbors. Service was quick and easy- we started with some cocktails, including the purple gin one and the tea old fashion. The tea old fashion was a fantastic, a unique spin on a classic drink. For our food: we started with the kaarage, which really reminded me of mcdonalds nuggets (in a good way) - the chicken was soft inside and the portion was quite large. We also got the yellow tail which was a gorgeous presentation and so light, with a fantastic flavor that didn't overwhelm the great fish quality. We also got the scallop item and my husband was in love, he said the flavors were rich but the presentation was simple and it really wow'ed him. The rolls are a little pricey so we didn't go overboard but we did get the oasis roll, the pacific roll, and a spicy tuna cucumber roll. Everything we had was fantastic- it felt like elevated sushi. We ended the night with some sake, and would love to see some more sake options on the menu in the favor. All the staff was fantastic and the spot was very trendy - was hoping to see the music aspect of the place but we were in on an early Wednesday night. Visited for a belated birthday dinner with my family and had a great time! I stumbled upon this gem on Yelp and didn't realize it had just opened this month. They are currently in their soft opening phase. The atmosphere: The space is beautifully decorated with tons of vinyl records and unique, eye-catching decor. The bar area is spacious and features a fun marquee sign. There's a mix of table, booth, and bar seating, which makes it feel inviting for all types of groups. The food: Prices are definitely on the higher side, but you can taste the quality in every dish. The Fried Tempura Oyster came out hot and crispy and paired perfectly with the tartar sauce. The Salmon Truffle was a highlight, with its freshness and the bright, zesty kick from the yuzu ponzu. The Pacific Roll was smaller in portion but still packed a flavorful bite. My family and I shared the Sashimi Deluxe, which had a great variety. My personal favorite was the scallop topped with uni and roe (absolutely delicious). I see that I'm in the minority on this review. This was not a bad experience, but it was just ok. I love the concept, the vibe, and the design of the restaurant. Service was fine. The food was well presented. So what is the problem? There was not a single dish that draws me back again from a taste standpoint. The rolls we had were very forgetable (for us). We tried several from the different menus. We also tried several starters. The tuna tartare was the closest to being good, but it lost its flavor after running out of crackers. All in we had 2 glasses of wine, 3 sushi rolls and 3 starters. The total price was about $160 with a 20% tip. The price was fine. I just cant find the value when balancing with the cuisine. If I return it will likely only be for drinks or some strong convincing that we simply picked the wrong plates. read more

Perfect for date night or fun night on the town! Food is top-notch, but gets expensive depending on how much you order . I would say go for the sushi rolls! The roll with the scallop on top - I need the chefs information! Chefs kiss!! The Nigiri was delicious as well if you can appreciate quality fish! During their soft opening in Clarendon, three of us THOROUGHLY enjoyed a Tuesday dinner -- the Pork Gyoza and Fried Oysters (the latter of which were a fun surprise on a Japanese menu) were both fabulous! We did a fairly broad sampling of their sushi rolls -- and it was some of the very best any of us had enjoyed -- textures/temperatures/rolling expertise were all spot on! The fish (and scallops) were pristine and perfect. A dulce de leche (cheese)cake dessert was delicious -- and I am not even normally a dessert person! From walking in the door to our exit -- the staff was warm, welcoming and just lovely. The space is wonderful too! We had gone to the previous restaurant at this location, and it is obvious that the new Oasis owners/managers knew how important it was to rework the space -- and did so brilliantly!
