I cannot say enough good things about The Renegade. While they're well-known as a live music venue, they are so much more than that. I recently held a celebration of life there for my mother, who was inurned at nearby Arlington National Cemetery, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. From the start, Cathy made organizing everything incredibly easy. She was attentive, thoughtful, and handled all the details seamlessly. When we arrived with our group of 75-100 friends and family, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Patrick, who was absolutely fantastic. We worked together to create a buffet-style menu and an amazing charcuterie setup. The food was exceptional--nothing like typical bar food--and everyone raved about it. The atmosphere was perfect for our gathering, and Cathy, Patrick, and the entire staff made my family feel extremely welcome during a difficult time. What struck me most was how genuine everyone at The Renegade is. I felt an immediate connection with them, and their warmth and professionalism made a challenging day so much easier. We went for a live performance- the stage is small but sufficient. I was glad to be able to grab a high table so we could have something to eat. There are a number of vegetarian items on the menu - we had the yucca fries, they were great, and so was the dip that came with them. Bartenders have a lot of room to cover, but I was never left waiting for a drink too long. My only complaint would be the big pillar in the middle of the space, I'm sure it blocks the view of the stage from some spaces. If you're coming to watch sports, there are plenty of TVs over the bar, no worries about blocking your view there. There is also a parking garage basically next door, very convenient. read more

I learned about Renegade for their Dark Constellation events through a goth/industrial music internet community of which I am a member. I attended a performance by Cynbaal, Distributed Systems and Jaguardini, and while I had to leave before Jaguardini's performance, I had a great time watching the other two acts. The setting is pretty great, from the stage to the multiple television screens projecting the stage, to the bar and the setup of multiple tables. There was sufficient open space in front of the stage that several people were able to dance. The crowd seemed to be at various different stages of Gen X, and they were super into the show, dressing up for that goth vibe. I am excited to return for future shows, but I hope they'll refresh their beer offerings, I had to make do with a diet Coke. read more

Sunday sports are a big deal and it was great to see a bar full of fans that like the same team as you. Clearly this spot had regulars in attendance. The good seats were all taken by the time I arrived. They have two levels and I was able to snag a balcony view to watch the game but there were not a lot of chairs. I asked for a menu at the bar, but it seemed a little different from the regular menu. The bar tender mentioned that you could order from the regular menu but it may take a while. The egg roll were tasty and I enjoyed the sauce. The brownie was good, just wished they had a caramel sauce instead of the chocolate sauce. I also ordered a mixed drink from the bar menu. Dropped by the Renegade on a Monday night for the salsa lessons. $10 cover, and the classes kicked off at 8 p.m. For the guys - There were more men than ladies, so be ready to get some solo footwork in. Once the lesson wraps, the DJ takes over and the place transforms in a salsa party. For a Monday there was good energy, good amount of people, fun vibes and good music. Also the service was great. Super friendly bar tenders. I got hungry while dancing. Ordered the goat in a boat and was so impressed had to try the lamb chops after. Goat in a boat: Surprise hit of the night. It was a mini gyro. The goat meat was crispy and cooked perfectly. The tzatziki added a fresh, light touch. Super flavorful and my favorite thing I tried on the menu. Lamb Chops: Three lamb chops for around 17.50 is a heck of a deal. They were on the smaller side but still well seasoned. Served over a bed of rice with a minty fattoush - refreshing and satisfying. I'm taking off a star because I didn't know this was an Eagles venue lol. I came to catch Dallas vs Philly with a friend and a group of hers. As far as size goes, Renegade has 2 floors of dining and watching experiences. With multiple TVs and projection screens, it's hard not to find a spot to watch a game (although you may have to stand all night). I had an Old Fashioned to go with their cheesesteak egg rolls and a rib. The egg rolls were a pleasant surprise, especially the quantity you get for $10. They were crispy, hot, and had a perfect meat-to-cheese ratio. The highlight of the night was the rib. We did not expect them to taste that good at a bar! Whoever the chef is deserves all their flowers. Meaty, well-seasoned, and the sauce paired with it perfectly. Service was as fast as it could be, considering how many people were there. We all got a kick out of how they brought the food to the bar using flashlights you'd see at a nightclub. read more

Have never felt more threatened and unsafe at a bar and live music venue than at this place. At the end of the night as we were waiting for our uber to arrive, we asked to use the restroom and we were met with hostile yelling, physical threats, and unreasonable staff. The bar was closed but we simply wanted to use the restroom before a long ride back to DC, so we nicely asked and the staff members were completely rude and angry for no reason. It's hard to believe that this place remains open and Earp's Ordinary had to close. The staff here is rude, the place is is unclean. It's just bare bones and doesn't have the slightest bit of charm. It's a dump. The band was supposed to start at 9:30, but hadn't done so by 10:00. They just seemed to be endlessly setting up. It was comical. Furthermore, for some bizarre reason, patrons aren't permitted to sit on the stools, even on the upper level, after 9 pm. We left. We will never go back. read more

The food here is surprisingly very good!! I recently ordered lunch to-go. I placed the order for pickup and it was ready real quick. I ordered the Chicken Schrapnel Bowl which came with a sauce of your choice and basmati rice. I chose the honey pepper sauce, which had a little kick to it! The basmati rice really had that fresh lemon taste to it, it paired nicely with the dish. The chicken was nice and crispy. It included pieces of white and dark meat. I personally am not a huge fan of dark meat but I know that it is meant to be tastier. For that reason I probably wouldn't order again but that is simply personal preference. I'd like to try something else on the menu! I have also visited Renegade pre-Covid and actually watched the Nationals win the World Series in 2019 on the Renegade's big screen. So I came here to get drinks with my girlfriends after the original bar we wanted to go to was full. It definitely has more of an evening bar vibe because the interior is dark. Firstly, they really scrutinized our IDs, which I can understand as we are all graduate students from out of state. But after finally taking our IDs and checking them in the back I guess for a while, they finally came back to take our drink order. It was confusing because their menu says they have $5 house wine during happy hour, but when my friend asked for it the bar tenders were confused and said they didn't do that. Honestly it was worth while because of the cheap rail drinks. Anyway, I think they felt bad about the confusion with the IDs and the wines because the bar tender asked us if we had any food allergies and then brought us out some free appetizers! That was really nice. The pita and hummus was pretty tasty and we loved the yucca fries. Security was amazing. A guard came back and checked on me after I was sexually harassed inside the venue. The bartender (Sean ?) was incredible. So supportive, and was willing to go to bat for me during the altercation. I'd like to know that Joe, the man who I was sexually harassed by, whom is also a police officer in the area, whom is not his first issue with a woman inside the venue per security, is completely banned from not only the location but company wide. Absolute disgusting behavior that was made acceptable by allowing this "man" back in the venue that is harmful to young woman like myself. The fact he is a police officer is astonishing. Our experience at The Renegade was amazing! We went for a late lunch and we were able to talk with the owner for our entire meal and hear his amazing journey to get to where he is. He even brought us extra menu items to try and to take on the road free of charge! You may be surprised to find a menu that is full of a variety of unique items rather than what some may deem "bar food." Went on a Friday night and the food and service was great. The bartender was the best. Super nice and friendly! They had a live band the night we were there and they were great! I docked a star mainly because the place/crowd wasn't really our style and vibe, and we barely knew any of the songs that the band covered. But everyone else looked like they were having a blast. To be honest, my friend and I came here thinking it was a sit down restaurant so we were surprised when we went in and it was a straight up bar, silly us. But it's probably because we were there at around 10:30 pm on a Friday night so they were done with their normal restaurant hours.. We ended up getting a full on meal because we were super hungry and everything was pretty good. What we ate: -Fried Yucca: DELICIOUS. Highly recommend!! The bar tender said that it was his favorite item on the menu and it did not disappoint! Yucca was perfectly crispy, soft on the inside and it WASN'T DRY. It also came with a delicious creamy (jalapeno/cilantro?) dipping sauce. The fried yucca paired perfectly with my beer. 10/10 -Churros: It came with a side of chocolate dipping sauce. I think they over fired the churros a bit so they were a smidge dry but over all still really good. 8/10 -Veggie Lo Mein: Probably the most disappointing of the food items we got but it was still okay. They didn't use traditional Lo Mein noodles, it kind of look like pad Thai noodles. Also, It was like 60% vegetables so it felt like there wasn't much noodles in the dish. 7/10 -Blueberry Lemonade: Smirnoff Blueberry vodka, blueberry puree, and lemonade. What's not to love. This drink was sweet and refreshing. Super dangerous, I could down a bunch of these. 9/10 read more
