I had a sandwich of their Kraków sausage, which they make in house, and I'm guessing there was probably 6 ounces of meat on there. Absolutely perfect, delicious stuff. This place has started a family tradition. Everytime we meet we have Oberle Dog Sausage and garlic cheese plus the ham, swiss and chedder. If I am visiting family I try to buy as much meat here as I can to bring back to St. Louis. The meat and cheese has better flavor at a lower cost than what I can find in St. Louis. Value. They do not have large amounts of sides or sandwiches to choose from so the rating is about the sausage, meat and cheese. (I spent part of my high school working after school at a butcher shop and deli and they payed me minimum wage, but I still worked there because I could eat for free. Now that I see my teenage nephews eat, I do not know how they could afford me.) read more

When I walk in the door and the smell hits me, it feels like home. Everything is good, they've got the operation down to a science, and even if it's a bit more than you'd pay at the grocery store (sometimes), it is always better. Oberle dog is the classic, the krakow can't be beat, and the pork loin is divine. Their beef sticks and jerky are also good. Buy their bacon by the pound, then portion it out and freeze it. But the ribs: if you can get there when they come fresh out of the smoker, you are about to enjoy yourself. The first time we hit that lottery, we demolished the entire rack of ribs in the parking lot. No sauce. Didn't need any. They were that good. The folks who work there are always gracious and always end every interaction with "anything else?" and never get testy no matter how many times you say, "You know, let me also get..." read more

Whether I'm buying meat to last a while or stopping by to get smoked meats as we head out on a day trip, I've never had anything from here that was less than great. Usually my son is digging around looking for smoked pork chops before I even get out of the parking lot. That said, you can't beat slices of Oberle dog and garlic cheese on a cracker! read more

I grew up eating Oberle Meat products; especially during the holidays. Although I missed the holiday order cutoff, I still placed an order. A hidden gem. Every time I pass through Ste. Genevieve it is a visit to this wonderful place. Always get at least 2 pounds of Oberle sausage and various amounts of their other products. All depends on the amount of room in my cooler. Take a look around and you will find lots of good stuff to take home (be sure you have a cooler). If you live in the St. Louis area be sure to stop here because whatever you get here tastes way better than the St. Louis area grocery stores sell. read more

Tenderloin, fresh garlic cheese, and "Oberle dog" are our go-to items, whether we call ahead and have them make us a plate or stop in for lunch fixings. As one of the previous posters has said, this IS a hidden gem for those whom aren't from Ste.Genevieve and I believe that is what makes it just that good! I have family whom live there and when we come down every august for Jour De Fete this is one of the places that we stop to get some of their delicious sausage. Today however, i went beyond that and got the pork tenderloin and some Krakow (for my father). The staff there are helpful and happy to help those whom don't know what they want and give some fantastic suggestions when asked! You have to stop here when you pass by and get some delicious sausage, they do it right! read more

It's been over a week since I've been to Ste. Genevieve, and I still cannot get over how awesome the food from here is! We came to Ste. Gen for our two year anniversary, and got to experience plenty of wineries and a couple local dining spots. One common denominator amongst most of these places: Oberle. We went to Audubon's for our two-year anniversary dinner, and our favorite part of our meal was their sausage and cheese plate; which was comprised of Oberle. The next day we hit a good handful of wineries; what did most of them serve? Oberle. Fueled by our (well, mostly my) obsession with this place, we bought a dollar cooler from Dollar Tree before heading home so we could load up on Oberle products. The staff was exceptionally friendly and allowed us to sample some of their other products, and we wound up going home with plenty, all for a great bargain! If I lived in Ste. Gen, I'd be coming to this place often; easily the best meat and cheese from a local butchery I've ever had. Highly recommended! read more

Every chance we get we stop at Oberle's for their sausages. I especially like their bratwursts. They are the best anywhere. We just stopped in there last week and discovered something new--their garlic cheese! It's wonderful (and addictive.) It's about a 65 mile trip to Ste. Genevieve but it's well worth it. I think we'll be going back next week for more garlic cheese. read more
