I had gone to a well-respected golf fitter but after two hours of switching shafts, club heads, etc., we came to the mutual conclusion that getting fit for a golf club prior to improving the swing mechanics was the best way to go. Golftec is a well-respected member in the golf industry and so, I decided to find a location near my home. The Woodbridge location is in a Golftown store. Currently, there are two rooms ( and a possible third) with all of the Golftec equipment set up for left and right handed players. Patrick Arbour is the golf instructor at this location. After an assessment of your swing, a lesson follows. Be sure to bring a 7-iron and golf shoes. A detailed discussion with a number of graphics/videos showing positions of your swing are presented to the student. There are four colours (red, yellow, blue and green) denoting the level that you are compared to a database of data where you compare to professional or elite golfers. I can tell you that watching yourself on a monitor and seeing what your swing habits/movements are compared to what is efficient, is very humbling. After my first lesson, Patrick fixed one very clear problem for me, that is swaying off the ball. It took a week for me to internalize it but after 7 weeks (almost all consecutive), my physical movements have become more efficient and consistent and less dependent on my athletic timing. After each lesson, you have access to a proprietary Golftec App that shows videos of the Before and After each lesson. There are written notes and drills to review to support the lesson and on video of you compared to a professional golfer. As someone who is a visual learner this is very helpful. I've taken lessons over the years, but without a doubt this is the best investment that a golfer can make well before deciding to buy a set of clubs. Bombing perfect penetrating drives, and placing the approach shot on the green like you were tossing it from the side bunker. My buddies couldn't believe that after saying "It's my first round this year" and "I don't practice" - constantly - that I could play that well. I felt like Tiger Woods. Buddies were actually calling me Lion Boner. I felt the golf god pheromones sweats. They feel good. The miss universe Canada candidate at the turn asked why I was being called Lion bone, and was incredibly impressed by my mediocre stuttered response that you can't choose your nickname. Even the swedish super model cart girl asked if I can teach her how to play sometime after seeing me hit a few amazinggg shots. With a john Daily smirk I said "Sure!" - but let me ask my wife when my next free weekend is to be able to golf again. Well ... somehow I now have NO more free weekends. I even told her I wouldn't wear red golf shirts any more, or any Nike attire at all. Anyways, It's been 7 weekends of antiquing in the smallest of towns of Ontario and our garage is full of garbage. I would for weeks be like a tung out excited dog out the car window when we accidentally passed a course. I now have glazed over eyes like a caged animal, the pheromones of a extremely old turtle, and generally haven't felt like a lion at all since. Mill Run is a challenging golf course with three nine hole courses, each with it's own set of…read morechallenges. I played The Wheel and The Grind a few days ago and the Grind and Grist on Sunday. These are the names of the three Championship Nines that make up this challenging championship course. Each course has it's own set of challenges, with the Grind being the newest of the three nines. It is arguably the easiest nine holes to play but the most challenging to walk. It is designed around the perimeter of the property, going up to the highest point. It's quite different from the original eighteen holes. Personally, I like the unique challenges it presents, lots of changes in elevation. The original eighteen holes, The Grist and The Wheel, are more mature but a lot flatter, perhaps a little more challenging. Wednesday's round was a practice round for a tournament that I was hosting on Sunday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate on either day, making the course less appealing than usual. While it wasn't soaking wet, some of the holes, especially on The Grind, needed a few dry days to come into shape. That's nobody's fault but Mother Nature's. As far as the tournament goes, everything went very well! The setup in the morning, the check-ins, the driving range, and the round were all good. After the round, the setup was equally good, with tables on the patio, BBQ on the terrace, and the food. The staff were very patient and helpful. Thank you to Matt Savage, Director of Golf, for all your help in arranging this tournament! And the staff for keeping us on time and on task. The food and service were all excellent!

Highland course review…read more We booked the highland course in error and it is an executive par 3 hidden away from the championship courses. I have played approximately 1400 golf games in my lifetime which is an average of about 35 rounds each year. I have played all over Canada, the USA, Thailand and even in Mombasa, Kenya and never have I played such a poorly maintained and dysfunctional course. The club house is a shack, the tee boxes are a mixture of sand and weeds, and even the cart girl had attitude. If you are even on a tight budget I strongly suggest another course because this is definitely not good value for the money however If are not fussy and you accept mediocrity then this might be the course for you.

The smaller par 3 course barely had anyone there but maybe because it's so damn hot. By the 18th hole I was dying from the heat. We did take a lunch break in the clubhouse in between and caught a bit of the soccer game going on before repeating the 9 holes to finish 18. We ordered the fish tacos and Cobb salad. I didn't catch that then but I just noticed from pics last year we ordered fish tacos too and this year they gave us 2 instead of 3 tacos last year! And still listed for $24.... what a steep decline in value. I generally felt the prices are a bit higher than last year too, like $3.50 for a tiny cheap ice cream sandwich that's from a box you'll find at grocery stores... No worthwhile desserts at this spot. I think having a good cold dessert would be great coming out from a sunny day at the golf course. Missed opportunity there. The Cobb salad was fresh but I should've asked for dressing on the side. Service is great thought, server was always there checking and making sure we're taken care of. Well the plus is I notice this time that there is a sunscreen dispenser inside the washrooms, very much needed! Washrooms and change rooms are clean and as a female, it seems I always get the washroom, showers and lockers to myself. Barely any females at the course.

Most of the older…read morenegative reviews seem to be about the restaurant, but the golf course here is surprisingly fantastic. It's a beautiful public par 3 course that offers quite a challenge. With narrow fairways, hazards like fescues, ponds, and bunkers, along with undulated greens, it's a lot of fun. We played with another pair of golfers, and the pace was smooth with minimal backup between holes. I usually tee off from the shortest tee box, but this time we all decided to play the white box (~3000 yards) to save time and also to allow it to count towards my handicap on my app. Let me tell you, it was a challenge. Some holes are not forgiving at all. I lost a few balls, but also found many lost ones, so it was a win-win in the end! There's a couple a holes where there is a shared green between two holes, which was the first I've experienced. Despite the trek to Brampton, it's easy to secure a tee time here, making it a fun and accessible choice for a round of golf. For time reference the group of 4 of us played on a Sunday at 12:40pm all from the white tee box, all walked it and finished the round by 5:09pm so about 4.5 hrs. They also have a nice driving range and green area to practice ahead of your game. The course is also nicely maintained and it was a beautiful day when we went. However, stepping on the fairway I do notice it being soft on some parts so I can only imagine it might be kinda messy and muddy if you end up playing in the rain. We found a green fee special for $50 on Golf Now, otherwise I think it's normally $60 on the weekend. A bit pricey but it is a nice golf course that'll I'll enjoy playing again.

For those golfers who want to hit their drivers more, this course might not be their cup of tea. I was not impressed by this place at first seeing a narrow pathway accessing the first-tee, and returning from the last hole. Golfers and golf carts were stuck at the pathway. However, after playing through first few holes, I found this course was pretty fun to play at. This course opens only for a few years and it is very well maintained. If I remember correctly, the green on the 13th hole is the most challenging one I have ever seen (see photos). For my level, I still got several chance to hit my driver. It is for sure a good golf course to practice our irons though. The regular green fee ranges from $34 (weekdays) to $44 (weekends and holidays) The clubhouse restaurant at this place is one of the best with good facilities, service, food and view.

But I love to come to Bushwood whenever my friend ask me for play a round. The 9 hole executive course at Bushwood is just perfect for me!! My friend can still keep her insanity and we still friend after a round of playing. The grounds are well kept and the fairways and greens always in good condition. (gee I cannot blame the course for all those boogies!!) I usually go during morning have a quick game then we go for lunch, perfect girl's "day" out!! BTW, Bushwood also has another 18-hole Championship Course, maybe I should give it a try next season after more practice! .

Top notch golf simulator facility with private bays…read more Came here in the afternoon and had a reservation in advance. We got out bay set up and it's has the Kakao characters on the screens which are so cute/ adorable to look at. It really adds to the experience. The simulator also has cameras to show your swing analysis. When we arrived here, their kitchen was not open yet so we couldn't order food. However, we ordered right away once their kitchen was taking orders. We got their half and half Korean fried chicken with fires and tteok. This was a great finger food for sharing and nibbling while golfing. They also have drinks here so you can order from the bar. The staff here are super nice and attentative. There's call buttons inside of each room so that you can get the attention of their staff if you have any questions or need to order anything else. The golf simulator bays all have couches and tables for you to sit around when it's not your turn golfing. Overall, such a fun experience to have if you're into golf. Make your reservations in advance to secure your bay. Note, the facility is pretty big with high ceilings, and their AC was blasting. Bring a long sleeve in case you get cold easily.

At $48/hr for their winter prime time rates, it is quite expensive, but what sets it apart from other simulators is that they use KAKAO VX Golf Simulator software. If I'm not mistaken, the only spot in the GTA that uses it. Chatting with the owner, he said this software is the #1 most popular software used in Korea. Most customers here get a coupon bundle for a cheaper rate, and so did we after our first time. If you pay in cash, you also save on tax. There's a Scotiabank a couple of doors down if needed. They are currently open 24hrs for winter, and if you can make it 12am-7am (off-peak), it's only $20/hr. There is staff present for personal assistance at all times if you need help navigating the software. Unlike other simulators, you get cute Kakao characters on screen cheering you on as you make a great swing on the course and also getting mad at you when you go out of bounds. I'm a sucker for that cute stuff. You also get to hit on different terrains like rough, fairway and bunker. Don't forget to download the Friends Screen app and shake your mobile to scan and log in for your game. It would record your score and randomly record a video of one of your swings during your game. Neat! Also, when you're on the driving range mode, it doesn't tell you how your club face contacts the ball like other simulators, but instead, it replays a video of your whole swing after you hit the ball so you can adjust. Another highlight is that the rooms are spacious, and there is an auto tee-up in all rooms. They also serve food! We had a cheesy corn tteokbokki, and it was pretty good. There's also a bar as well. No outside food and drinks allowed but outside coffee and tea is okay. Note that Tim Hortons is right beside this spot. I would definitely recommend it for a group hangout activity or a date activity. For someone just going solo to improve, it might be quite expensive unless you can go during off peak. Only downsides is despite the place being so advanced, the booking system is still primitive compared to other simulators, you can't automatically book yourself online. You have to contact manually via their phone number, IG, or Kakao to schedule a session. We purchased a 10 pass coupon card for $380, not secure at all with that amount of money on a simple stamp card with no identifying information so I imagine it could be easily copied, lost or stolen. So far I haven't had trouble booking on the day of on the weekend. Hopefully they figure a better system in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the days, sunsets & hours spent at the driving range practicing This place is just beautiful & so conveniently located close to home. Workers here are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Special shoutout to Sal for going through the extra trouble of locating a more suitable club for me when I wasn't really happy about the one they initially gave (& also bringing it right up to me at the range!) The driving range is pretty spacious & there are plenty (although it does get more crowded later on in the day). There are a few target practicing flags on the range as well. I haven't had the chance to play holes here but I would love to next season!
