It has a rustic feel and it's similar to a barn, without being gross and cold. The bathrooms were nice, though a bit chillier than I would've wanted. But they were nice. The hall for the reception was really nice and spacious. Good amount of room for the dance floor too. We had a really great meal too. We both have allergies, so we got modified meals, thanks to the wedding coordinator, Hayden. He was really great and super attentive to any problems we or anyone else had. I believe we started with a carrot and tomato purée, followed by a flat rice noodle red sauce 'pasta' which to be honest was too undercooked for me. Then a cut of roast beef, soooo tasty! Moist and just delicious. The side of mashed potatoes was also fantastic. And it ended on a delicious couple scoops of sorbet. It was really such a great meal, minus the noodles, but that's ok.

Glen Eagle is a pretty nice 27 hole course. It has a funny layout for their Yellow Track…read more If I remember correctly, there are three colours - red, blue, yellow. Red has hole number 9 come back to the clubhouse, Blue 9 ends at the halfway house and Yellow 1 starts at the halfway house and ends back at the clubhouse. I may have Red and Blue mixed up. Nonetheless, if you finish at Yellow 1, you have a long and thrilling drive - if you follow the Yellow track back via the holes, as golfers launch balls by you - or a confusing drive, as you try to navigate the back trails. The course is well matured and kept in good conditions. The place has great elevation changes and if you are not in the best physical condition, take the cart. The course can be long and hard on some of "weekend warriors" who are more in it for the "weekend" and less "warrior." The clubhouse is good for hosting tournaments. The buffet dinners they serve are pretty decent and well executed by the staff. The golf for tournaments are well planned and after 50 years of doing it, they have it right for sure. I've played this course at least once a year in either a tournament or an outing with my friends. I play it seldom because it is not convenient for me, but I would play it more if I was closer to it. Fees are acceptable and I find it worth the value. FORE!!!! Cheers.

Mill Run is a challenging golf course with three nine hole courses, each with it's own set of…read morechallenges. I played The Wheel and The Grind a few days ago and the Grind and Grist on Sunday. These are the names of the three Championship Nines that make up this challenging championship course. Each course has it's own set of challenges, with the Grind being the newest of the three nines. It is arguably the easiest nine holes to play but the most challenging to walk. It is designed around the perimeter of the property, going up to the highest point. It's quite different from the original eighteen holes. Personally, I like the unique challenges it presents, lots of changes in elevation. The original eighteen holes, The Grist and The Wheel, are more mature but a lot flatter, perhaps a little more challenging. Wednesday's round was a practice round for a tournament that I was hosting on Sunday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate on either day, making the course less appealing than usual. While it wasn't soaking wet, some of the holes, especially on The Grind, needed a few dry days to come into shape. That's nobody's fault but Mother Nature's. As far as the tournament goes, everything went very well! The setup in the morning, the check-ins, the driving range, and the round were all good. After the round, the setup was equally good, with tables on the patio, BBQ on the terrace, and the food. The staff were very patient and helpful. Thank you to Matt Savage, Director of Golf, for all your help in arranging this tournament! And the staff for keeping us on time and on task. The food and service were all excellent!

Highland course review…read more We booked the highland course in error and it is an executive par 3 hidden away from the championship courses. I have played approximately 1400 golf games in my lifetime which is an average of about 35 rounds each year. I have played all over Canada, the USA, Thailand and even in Mombasa, Kenya and never have I played such a poorly maintained and dysfunctional course. The club house is a shack, the tee boxes are a mixture of sand and weeds, and even the cart girl had attitude. If you are even on a tight budget I strongly suggest another course because this is definitely not good value for the money however If are not fussy and you accept mediocrity then this might be the course for you.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Bibimbap on the menu so I had to try it. It may not have been as authentic as what I've had at Korean restaurants but it was pretty good. I had requested no cucumbers and they were happy to comply. My playing partners seemed to enjoy their meals also. The restaurant was busy with many other golfers waiting out the rain. Unfortunately, it started raining a lot harder while we were eating and then came the hail and wind. We never made it out to the golf course. We would have needed a canoe to get around out there. Played 18 holes here, first nine at Parkland, last nine at Forest…read more It was corporate golf tournament and I was coming from the states that morning and wasn't bringing any clubs with me so I called twice in advance to see if they could set aside some lefty women's clubs for me. They said sure and took my name. When I got there, about 1/2 hour before our start, they told me they don't have any lefty women's clubs at all... and it wasn't that they ran out-- they just didn't have any! That was frustrating since I had called ahead to check. Lefties never get any love! They did have one set but it was graphite and it might have been mens, which is probably why they said it would be heavier, but I didn't have any problems with it considering it was a one time rental. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and gave our group towels to keep our cart seats dry in the rain. The course is just beautiful with a variety of Par 3, 4 and 5's and the weather improved for us as we played. Nice locker rooms and facilities at the club house. They do cater on site although the food was just decent and nothing to get excited about. I believe this is a members only club so, if you're in the Toronto area and can get a member to include you, this is a great stop for a day of golf.

There's also an area for driving range if you just want to practise your swings. I've only gone on a course a few times so I'm still not too familiar with all the rules. If you are not too familiar with it as well, be sure to read the rules on the card that I've posted. Remember to arrive 20 mins before your Tee time to make payment and you should book the time in advance. This is another great fun family activity for "staycation". With my family, we don't take this game seriously so we play best ball so that we don't feel too much pressure from the group behind us. I recall the first time taking my daughter golfing when she was about 9 and she just loved riding the power kart!

What a nice little 9 hole course. Came here for a little late afternoon tournament to support a…read morelocal kids hockey team. They have a tiny restaurant, banquet, proshop - so tiny, it's actually the same room! The course was in great shape, the greens receptive, the fairways interesting with pinpoint landing areas. Water came into play in most of the holes. I forgot which hole but a par-4 risk reward hole over trees to the right of the tee box can land you on a blind green. One of our team mate landed it two feet from the pin. Have no idea how but we'll take an eagle on a par4. The banquet was a buffet style with the usual make up of salad, chicken, steak, and all the fixings. A great time was had by all, especially our team as we won the tourney without any creative mathematics and accounting!!! Cheers!!!

It's also easily the best value you're going to find. For a little over $20, I paid much more for farmer field type courses. Everything was just so lush!! There were lots of ball marks on the greens, but that's probably due to the amount of newbs this place would attract not fixing their marks. But even then, it's still in pretty good shape. We were playing sandwhiched between two groups of seniors, and they all did it happily. There are no powered carts and only pulls, but you really don't need it. It's a fairly flat course except for the first and last holes. Plus its a very lovely stroll through the park. With all the naturally lined trees, this place will be gorgeous in the fall, and I can't wait to go back.

It will test your game! I first played here many years ago, long before the surrounding neighbourhood and current clubhouse were built. It was a really good golf course back then but it has evolved into quite a gem of a facility, especially the clubhouse! After our round (my worst in years), we enjoyed dinner in their fantastic restaurant. It was spacious and airy, both indoor and outdoor. Very nice! We were all starving, so we started with their Yorkshire Sliders (Shaved Prime Rib, Horseradish Mayo, Au Jus), which were very tender and delicious! For our main course, most of us opted for the Cedar Brae Signature Burger (House Made 10oz Top Sirloin Burger with Chipotle Aioli, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle on Brioche Bun). I added bacon and cheese to mine and had fries on the side. This burger was quite hefty and delicious! The fries were equally good. A slice of delicious Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake completed this delicious and filling meal! Overall, despite my poor play, it turned out to be a good day. The meal and company more than made up for it. Enough food for over 100 attendees for second helping. The meeting room was huge and the buffet was set up in the adjoining room. Food quality 8/10, meeting facilities 9/10 , cleanliness 9/10, service n/a Would I recommend this Establishment for meetings: yes The Association meets here regularly.
