I also have a 6 year old that I was able to breastfeed for over a year and the first three months were sooo painful. I wish I knew Megan then. She observed how I would get my baby latched and then guide me on how to do it properly. What I love is that she would thoroughly explain why this way works so well. She gave us some exercises to do to keep him latching properly. Our visit was so educational. She not only saved our journey but saved me from this dreadful pain. We also went over how to properly and most effectively use a Hakka and a pump. I am getting over mastitis and she gave me lots of tips and tricks to keep it from coming back. In October of 2022, my husband and I decided that we were ready to start trying for a baby. I let Megan know and she provided us with a lot of sound advice, like when to get off the pill, what user friendly apps to use to track periods and symptoms, and other lifestyle adjustments we can make, so that it happens fairly quick, but also with the best versions of ourselves. It took 3 months, which was perfect for our timeline and what felt so fast for being on the pill for over 10 years. Megan knew I was pregnant the day I found out. Megan was so amazing! I first met her when my son was about 7weeks old ad just had his tongue clipped right before COVID lockdowns, I was visiting from out of town and needed someone to help me monitor his eating and latch as he was FTT. She was so supportive, showed me excercises to help improve his latch and suck, helped me to work towards weaning off of his supplement and to be fully breastfed. Huge thanks to Megan who helped me so much. As a first time mom with a fussy 3 month old, I thought my breastfeeding journey was over so quickly. I am a first time mom and Megan was the first lactation consultant I ever met with. My baby was a NICU baby, and like most NICUs, they force fed him formula to the point where he was puking. I latched him in the NICU, but they forced me to "top him off" with formula. Needless to say, he quickly learned to prefer the bottle over the breast, and I was heartbroken. I spent my entire pregnancy reading all about breastfeeding and felt helpless when we returned home and he just would not latch. I was so stressed out that my sister-in-law began looking for lactation consultants online for me. Everyone was booked up for another week or was not available on a Sunday. One of the reputable lactation consultant services referred her to Megan, and the rest was history. Megan came to our home that afternoon, looked past the mess and chaos in our home with our newborn, and took her time to get to know both my baby and I. She listened patiently as I cried from being completely overwhelmed with stress and fatigue, and took detailed notes for each and every one of my concerns. Megan has an aura about her that is just warm, inviting, non-judgmental, and calming. She is very knowledgeable and took her time (I mean really took her time) to help us work on latching, positions, exercises for the baby, and even pumping. Megan also identified 4 ties that the hospital lactation consultant completely dismissed, and informed us what our options were moving forward. She gave us referrals for doctors whose procedures she has watched personally, and let us make the decision that was best for our family. We ended up getting the procedure done as soon as there was an appointment available. Megan offered to be there during the surgery so she could accompany our baby and assist with latching post surgery, but our schedules didn't work out. She did her follow-up at our home instead. We continued to see Megan for follow ups, and what was most convenient is that she made herself available via text when my questions came up. There were some serious postpartum things she advised me on that I otherwise would have dismissed..and I am forever grateful to her for this. To be honest, there are a million other things I can tell you about my postpartum journey in which Megan has assisted me in, but it would far exceed the character count for this Yelp review. Over the past few months, I have gotten to know Megan and I cannot say enough great things about her. She is an incredibly intelligent young lady, with plenty of knowledgeable people in her network that if there is ever something she doesn't know at the top of her head, she will always go out of her way to find an answer for you, or refer you to someone who can help. I highly recommend Megan! The first weekend I was home from the hospital I had a really hard time breastfeeding. It was frustrating and painful. I found Megan through some recommendations on FB and I'm so glad I contacted her! She came to my house. It was so much more relaxing to have her consult in the privacy of my own home and she made me feel so comfortable. She did an exam on my baby and myself. She gave me some tips and exercises to help release the tension in my baby's cheeks. It made such a difference! I found Megan's expertise incredibly helpful - even with my second. Our baby was born with all the tongue ties so we had them revised when she was 2 weeks old and breastfeeding became even more difficult than it had been before the procedure. She wouldn't latch at all unless I used a nipple shield and even then there was still the clicking and gulping that caused us to get her tongue tie revised in the first place. Megan reassured me that all that was normal while she learned how to use her tongue again and just to be patient. She also gave me some tips on ways to wean her from the nipple shield, ways to regulate my milk supply, bottles and pacifiers that would help and other feeding positions. Since the beginning of my pregnancy I always wanted to breastfeed. Before leaving the hospital, my daughter was hurting me so bad. The Lactation Consultant at the hospital told me that my daughter might have a mild tongue tie case so they instructed me to confirm with the pediatrician. My pediatrician told me that she didn't have a tongue tie but a short tongue. I was in so much pain, my daughter was almost 2 months and I was pumping and bottle feeding because it was impossible for me to breastfeed her due to the bleeding. At this point I was totally hopeless, my mother in law found her in yelp and scheduled a consultation. Megan came to our home and diagnose my daughter with lip tie and posterior tongue tie. Megan works with a reliable network of doctors and specialists on this field. She gave me a care plan with exercises and therapy to follow up with the tongue/lip tie surgery. She even accompanied me on a post operation meeting with the surgeon after some complications. After facing so many difficulties, my daughter is no longer in bottles and I am able to breastfeed.
