I wish I had more time at this park. It was absolutely beautiful. They had a great area where you could learn about women in history. I am obsessed with this park after running a 5K here with Bishop's Events. I park down at the first parking lot and run along the path adjacent the main road--I do four laps--up to this orange barrier thing by southernmost Workhouse guard tower. That totals 7 miles. read more

The park is clean, peaceful, and has beautiful views--especially by the water, which I absolutely loved. It was the perfect spot to celebrate and spend quality time together. Great place for a walk. They have a paved walkway so it's not muddy but if you go up the stairs you can walk on a dirt walkway way. They have other activities and a marina. read more

First visit for fitness, fresh air and fun. This is a beautiful, vastly shaded, area with many connecting routes along the water and through the woods for outdoor activities. There is a Cafe and canoe rental collocated to take advantage and enjoy an impromptu activity if you desire. Walk, jog, run, fish, sit for brunch, pick a bench and converse or choose to do something else. Whichever you decide on, this is a perfect place especially during Fall (my fav season)! read more

I could have sworn I reviewed this park years ago when I lived in VA. Occoquan is just stunning. It's one of my favorites parks to jog. In fact, it's one of my favorite parks in the country. I love to jog and find trails to just run and Occoquan conveniently has a 5K trail loop. It has 350 acres of fun! You can enjoy the bricksmakers Café for lunch, take wonderful scenic pics, rent a kayak or perhaps rent out our pavilion. I remember jogging here and stumbling upon a classic car show. I just spent hours admiring all the antique beauties. The point is no matter what your favorite recreational activity is, you can do it here. 5 stars. read more

Large park with lots to do including trails and fishing spots at the docks. I did some fishing in the Occoquan River via the floating dock. It's a little hard to find the first time but a good fishing spot once you find it. Unfortunately, the dock isn't huge it would get crowded if more than a couple of folks were fishing at the same time. I'll come back here again to fish and check out some trails. read more

Occoquan Regional Park is a 400-acre public park along the Occoquan River. Here's why you should visit: 1) Parking: Entering the park from Ox Road, the tiny road takes you to a massive parking lot with easy-to-find open spots. 2) History: There are several historical spots within the park. There's an old brick kiln that helped supply Washington, D.C. with brick years ago. Across from it is a new mural honoring the women who fought for women's suffrage. 3) Amenities: There's an events space, a cafe and public restrooms. There's also a dock where boats can enter the river. 4) Trails: A number of trails weave through the park straddling the river. There's even a trail that crosses a bridge into Historic Occoquan. 5) Views: Located along the river, the park gives breathtaking views of the trees hanging over the water and Historic Occoquan. read more

Occoquan Regional Park is across the Occoquan River from historic Occoquan. There is a large parking lot when you first arrive with multiple levels to park closer to where you want to go. Be sure to check out the old kiln and the Womens Suffrage memorial. There is an event space, the Brickmaker's Cafe, kayak rentals, and a public boat launch. There are also numerous trails that weave through the woods for hiking. This is a nice park to use for recreation. read more

I used to love this place. Now and even Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, refuses to answer a basic question. If a wedding isn't taking place, why are us tax payers not allowed to fish from the banks? The no fishing signs are up, and while I think it's reasonable/respectful not to fish if a wedding is taking place, this seems heavy handed. Also the lack of clarity, is not what I would consider to be polite. If someone from NVRPA sees this, and could shed some light, that would be really appreciated. NVRPA does mostly a great job, but here absolutely not. I understand this could be a picturesque place for a wedding, but how about for people who jog, hike, fish, or engage in water activities? This is now what I call a "yuppie park." Good for them with the weddings and fancy new buildings. They have improved it, but they while doing this, didn't consider a lot of people. A park is best when it's multi use. Trails here are alright, but like others, thank goodness NVRPA and Fairfax County Parks have many facilities. If you're in the area, it's far better to enjoy the town of Occoquan instead. Congrats to the happy couples, but the area has much nicer locations. read more

We first visited this park awhile back for a walk. Our most recent visit was for a friends wedding. Plenty of parking is available. The venue was beautiful. There is lots of space for adults to gather (kids to run around), outdoor beauty, and a spacious indoor area (at The Riverview). Everything was set up perfectly. The Riverview was clean and organized. The music, decor, and service was lovely. Employees around the venue were incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive. The bride and groom were so happy, which makes us so very happy! Everything from start to finish was wonderful. So glad we were able to be a part of this gorgeous day and celebrate N&N! read more

It was a perfect outing that didn't require a lot of walking. The narratives are informative and easy to follow chronologically. The exhibit sparked some in-depth conversation, both there and on the way home. It's exactly what you are looking for if your out-of-town guests want to see some of the local highlights. read more

I just bought a new inflatable kayak so I can test out the waters (har har) before investing in something more expensive for the long-term. There's a modest boat launch fee ($6 for NoVA resident and $8 for everyone else) as well as boat and life vest rentals. We decided to go right and head towards the waterfall for our ride, and it was lovely. The water was calm and while there were other boats of all kinds on the water I never felt like it was too crowded--and the larger boats were good about not going super fast and leaving a wild wake behind. If I lived in one of the pretty mansions on the other side of the river I'd definitely kayak every day, but I don't know that I'd come back here every weekend to do so, although there's more to explore than I could fit in a single day's trip. There's tons and tons of parking, and even a cute bistro with outdoor seating if you want to grab lunch or a beer. I didn't check it out but it looks like there's a whole event venue and sporting options, as well as a Suffragist monument that's in the process of being built. The atmosphere/vibe was lovely. The folks renting boats were great at giving our friends who did rent some good advice, and even stopped to chat with me a bit while I was inflating my kayak to talk about his own kayak. There was a gentleman fishing nearby the boat launch, and some kids approached him to learn more about fishing and he was just kindly telling them all about bait and how to fish and different kinds of fish--just the kind of kindness that strangers aren't always willing to dole out. He soon had a small crowd/fanclub as he was pulling in some whoppers and all the adults wanted to know his magic. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's one of my favorite parks. There's a panoramic water view throughout most of the park grounds, a huge greenspace, multiple covered pavilions, kayak rental, volleyball, historical sites, and more! The River View building is great looking and the restaurant (Brickmaker's) is excellent considering it's fast service food with inexpensive pricing. There's a bit of a upwards hike on the scenic view trail, but it's very lightly used so a nice walk is in store on it!! read more

went to go use the batting cage and it Jammed and the work fixed it but when it jammed again the worker said to use a diffirent cage because she wasn't going to do her job and instead play on her phone. The cage that broke was the only cage that pitches fast and that constantly throws a strike. read more

They did some work in the park and it's beautiful- we couldn't wait to have the eating areas opened and all cleaned up for our families but it doesn't justify these ridiculous rates. If you know any other NOVA PARK this is just insane and seems like you should just charge admission at this point because the whole point of city parks are for everyone to be able to enjoy. LOL. Beautiful regional park with lots of recreational options and a couple of historic notable landmarks within it. This park offers: * boat launch * kayak and canoe rentals $8 for an hour * lake beach access (not very nice...) * trails * playing fields for soccer and other ball recreation * old kiln landmark where the prisoners of Lorton Reformatory built their facility brick by brick by using this old (no longer active) kiln * historic signage around the old kiln speaking about the history of the area including tons of details of the women who had to stay at the jail during the Women's Suffrage Movement to gain voting rights for women in America. The pioneers in this movement were jailed over the course of several months, and the former jail now turned art center is not far from this location. It is a lovely park worth taking a stroll through. Homes occupy much of the area on the other side of the park and get to enjoy it on a regular basis. Take the time and go down there yourself to see what it's about! read more

Walked into this park while out for a weekend walk along Ox Road. It was a long walk from the road into the park down to the Occaquan River; it was an even longer walk up the hill on the way out. There are several outlooks along the walk with scenic overlook views of the Occaquan River and town. At the river level visitors can fish and rent or launch boats, kayaks, and surf boards. While there, people were meeting for LL Bean kayaking and standup surf boarding classes. There are views of many nice homes and boats across the river. read more

Gorgeous place to spend the day. We have the Mongolian traditional festival there every year for the last 3 years and it's just perfect. It's spacious and staff is friendly. Only difficulty is the parking because we have to park on the grass during the event, and I feel bad doing that. So I hope the park will problem solve somehow to don't let the cars park on the grass years to come. read more

Staff should train their managers on customer service; they are significantly better at it. Batting cages need maintenance and often require staff intervention as the machines break down frequently. The roof over the machines needs replacing. read more

Wow I use to play soccer tourneys here years ago and it's really changed for the better. Even tho soccer fields are just fields with no goals, still lots of outdoor fun to be had! They added so many more paths, one taking you down to boat ramp marina from batting cages Which was a decent paved hike with pretty views of the Occoquan town and water. Definitely a different feel from 30 yrs ago, way more to do and much more inviting! I took off a star as the bathrooms could be cleaner esp during Covid and not a whole lot of shade which is tough for the little ones if hanging out in the big open area fields. Also need more trash cans the only one I could find was on the restroom so those were the cons but all in all I recommend. The weekend was busy pretty crowded prob perfect amt people during the week though. Oh did I mention all the fishing and boat rentals? Lots to offer even a little Cafe over looking boat ramp which kids love to just watch all the action. :) read more

What a gorgeous park! Having never actually set foot in Occoquan Regional Park prior to this past weekend, I had no idea what I was missing out on. The park is a mere 15 minutes from Burke/Springfield, and the minute you drive inside the boundaries, it's like you're transported to another world. You wind up a long, narrow path surrounded by giant trees on both sides of you, until you burst out into nothing but fields and woods and a giant lake... it's really gorgeous. I was headed for a wedding ceremony taking place in one of the gazebos, which was really very nice (but, of course, it was SUPER low key). There seemed to be parking lots pretty much everywhere along the main road, which was really nice, and while I had to do a bit of a loop to find Gazebo 3 specifically, there was a decent amount of signage posted. Again, since this was my first visit, I can't attest to how easy it is to get to every single part of the park (getting down to the water, for example, might require more of a hike? I'm not sure), but I definitely plan on going back to find out. I think this park would be an awesome place for a family picnic or just to spend some time outdoors and in the sun. A nature-filled oasis that's less woodsy than Great Falls park (plus, you don't have to pay for parking here!), I will most definitely be back! read more

What a glorious day to be out in the sun today at Occoquan regional park! The sun is shining, I can feel the heat on my face, and a slight breeze. Decided to stop in to the park and enjoy the nice day and grab a quick beer at the café. This park has improved immensely since the last time I was here and it's been a few years. There's a fabulous pavilion in this amazing building with its amenities inside for food and alcohol and restrooms. Apparently it's a new hotspot for weddings. I know they have some batting cages down the road and you could rent some kayaks to enjoy your day out on the water. Always a pleasure to have an amazing park close by to home. They have a nice bike trail and you have a fabulous view of the amazing homes that are right across the river. If you haven't been down here in awhile, I highly recommend a day down here whether it's solo, with your loved one or with your family! read more

This a very clean park. I personally like the peaceful setting, where I can go to just breath and watch the wildlife on and around the river and reflect on the day. This park also offers batting cages, gazebos picnic locations on the river. Snack bars, restrooms, playing fields, and kayak rentals. Beautiful spot loaded with history. If in the area should def. Nice park. Well maintained. I like coming here after it has rained and other places like Fountainhead or Burke Lake are muddy. This park has a lot of paved trails so it is nice in those times. There are really cool picnic shelters along the trail with water views you can rent out. read more

Nice little park for picnics, with a well-kept walking trail. Not much in the way for actual hiking except the "scenic view" route that connects to the main road, and a small, barely noticeable path that stems from the far edges of the park. Otherwise all paths are paved. I like that there is no entrance fee, although if you are looking to launch or rent a boat the fee there is higher if you are not a Fairfax County resident. read more

Completely beautiful park nestled on the Occoquan River. Kayaks are rentable here and there's a dock for those with boats. Very quiet and never crowded the park is a hidden gem.
