It is with a heavy heart that I write this Yelp review. At the age of 29 years old, and going to Ocean Adventure Dentist for the past 24 years...I have been told that it's time for me to start going to an "adult" dentist. After coming to OAD for nearly two and a half decades, and now having to say goodbye; my life will never be the same. The tenderness and care I received from them is a hard thing to come by in this cruel world. I love everyone there dearly. They are so kind, attentive, and caring. It is said that all good things must come to an end, but I never thought this day would come. Only God knows how long I will mourn this incredible loss and tragedy. I can't believe the experience I just had here. My kids have been going for a couple of years, and everything has been pretty uneventful. Parking is easy, and there was never more than one other person in the waiting room. I had to reschedule an appointment and spent time on the phone with them a couple weeks prior to the appointment and wasn't told anything. At some point I must have missed a call from them, though I also received no less than 6 text messages with appointment reminders. When I walked in today I was told that they no longer accepted our insurance. I was surprised and annoyed because I had taken my kids out of school early but decided to pay cash to keep my kids up to date. I took my child the restroom and when I came back the person that turned out to be my daughter's hygienist was having a public conversation with the receptionist about something being denied which I thought was poor form. They had us standing there waiting while they continued their conversation and started working on my other child. The whole experience was off putting to say the least. All of a sudden they wanted to take x-rays of my youngest kid in order to do her cleaning. I told them it didn't make sense to do them because we likely wouldn't continue cleanings there and we'd have to take them with our new dentist. Then, the hygienist decided that she couldn't clean my 5 year old's teeth unless she took x-rays which made no sense to me. So now my 5 year old would need to sit and wait for my older kid, so I decided to take both my kids. It's been 30 minutes and they already have a new dentist appointment with a highly rated dentist who takes our insurance and was kinder and more put together on the phone. They also said they weren't sure it was legal to refuse a cleaning because a child didn't have x-rays. As usual, the waiting room was completely empty, well at least now I know why. read more

We love ocean adventure! My children all have a difficult time visiting the dentist and all the staff make them feel comfortable and safe while visiting. Walking in the front door we are always welcomed with a smile. Whether we are there for cleanings or more in-depth procedures the staff is always making sure that my children understand what's being done and will do anything they can to be sure that their experience isn't going to leave them scared to come back. Dr Ash does a fantastic job at explaining what's going on and doesn't push anything extra just request what's best for the children and their dental needs. Best pediatric dentist ever ever. Everyone is so incredibly friendly there. They hire the most wonderful people to work. The doctor is amazing all the assistance are so sweet and they get you in and out in like literally 15-20 minutes and they are thorough. I have never had to wait more than five minutes for our appointment and they have also called me on many occasions to let me know there's openings in the schedule if I want to come sooner this is the best. Honestly, my kids get so excited to go to the dentist. Today they called to see if I could come in earlier and my kids were thrilled. They were so excited to go. It was just such a positive visit and my children are so motivated by the point system to try to get a perfect score every time they come. 11/10 recommend read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Ash. When my son knocked his tooth loose, he was available within the hour. My son was already scared but Dr. Ash put him at ease and turned a really scary situation around. He laid out a plan for us and everything worked out great. I've taken all my kids here and he has been so wonderful every single time we see him. He is honest and does not prescribe unnecessary procedures. I highly recommend him! The most welcoming, friendly, and patient staff around. My 4 year old child was so fearful of his first appointment today and the moment he walked into the office, he was comfortable. As a mom with dental anxiety myself, I'm absolutely blown away how they kept him calm and only went at his pace. I didn't think they would even be able to clean his teeth let alone fill a cavity today with NO COMPLAINTS. My oldest son went through some pretty traumatic procedures before coming to Oceans, so even at 11 years old he was a bit nervous and today was like nothing. I can not recommend this office enough. I have 4 kids, the oldest is 18 so I guess I've been going to Ocean Adventure for that long (yikes). Yes, Dr. Berger was awesome and she was the OG dentist here. I saw a review that said this place isn't the same since she retired. Not true. Dr. Ash is the sweetest man, he cares about my kids' teeth and I don't feel like they push anything on us that isn't warranted. I still go there and recommend this dentist to my friends and family. The staff are always nice, and they know how to make kids feel comfortable which is not easy when they're getting their teeth cleaned! Another thing that's nice about this place is that they will send the claim to insurance for you. I don't see any negatives about going here at all actually. Only positives. I took my 16 month old here because I was told to start them early and get them used to going to the dentist since that's what matters at this stage, and they'll be far easier to take in the future for cleanings/examinations and such. Dr. Tirgari and his staff were really wonderful from the start, both from booking and confirming our appointment, and while we were there for the visit. The office is very modern and fun with lots for kids to keep them busy. And the staff was so patient and caring, especially given how scared my son was once the dentist looked at his mouth. We recently took our two-year old son for his first pediatric visit, and Dr. Ash was thorough in his evaluation of our toddler's teeth, as well as informing us about dental hygiene for our son. This used to be run by Dr. Suzy, who was amazing. The practice has changed hands since and it's nothing like it was. Before, Dr. Suzy always made sure to do what was needed to be done for the best results, and she kept the out of pocket expenses in mind too. Now, it seems like it is only about how much money they can squeeze out of us. We've been going here for over ten years but they are pushing us out with a couple hundred dollars of out of pocket expenses per visit. This is NOT the same practice that we loved. read more

I took my 5 year old son to Dr. Ash for some fillings. His staff and his office we very accommodating and caring throughout the process. My son never felt that he was at a dental office throughout the whole visit, as he was laughing and smiling through the whole visit. We recently discovered this dentist through a referral and I cannot express how wonderful our experience has been. Dr. Ash took care of both of my kids, calmed their dental anxiety, patiently described everything to them as he was working, and always made sure that they were comfortable every step of the way. This dentist office is so fun and clean! My kids are genuinely excited when I tell them it's time for their check up! They have video games, a play place, surprises at the end. They offer coffee from their employees coffee lounge.. they encourage parent involvement 100%. There is at no time they as the parents not to be in the room or to step out which I feel is a very important part of dentist/ patient/ parent trust. They have TVs at all chairs and offer headphones so the kids can just "zone" into the movie if their scared (or just bored like my kids). They give incentives for getting so many grade "a's" which you get every cleaning in their office and having no cavities and they can see you've been brushing and flossing well. It's a great way to remind the kids, "hey, you want the good grade for your teeth so you have to brush brush brush!!" They get it! They are really cool prizes too! Like a family membership to the Long Beach Aquarium and for older kids, teeth whiting valued at $100s! The dentist we saw was amazing with children! I forget her name but she's above and beyond just like her whole staff. All so nice and accommodating. I will be bringing my kids back here as long as we live in the area! read more

This place gets a 10 out of 10 for me. I recently brought my children to see Dr. Ash. The facility was so clean and nice. From the moment we arrived the waiting area had video games and a play pen area that created a comfortable environment for my kids. It really put them at ease. Once we were called up, each chair had a TV and headphones to distract my kids. Usually, at this point my kids would be crying and screaming, but there was no such reaction. Dr. Ash was so cool and funny with my kids that they are actually looking forward to their next check up. Dr. Ash and his team did a terrific job. I'm jealous that I can't be seen by Dr. Ash. Absolutely the best place for my sons! We have been going here for many years, all staff and doctors are amazing. We usually see Dr. Ash and he's so incredibly patient and understanding. One of my son is autistic and dental office visit always very stressful! They allowed him to come in every three months so he's not so afraid which has been very helpful. Dr.Ash was on leave so the last two visits we were seen by Dr.Villata (not sure of spelling), and OMG she so sweet and amazing, very patient and understanding. Dr. Ash has been a godsent! I took my nephew there after hearing so many great things from my mommy friends. Let me tell you, my nephew will not step into a dental office without a major tantrum, but the setting of the waiting area distracted him so well and put him at ease. Then when we got in to see Dr. Ash, my nephew was skeptic at first and a bit scared, but Dr. Ash was super friendly and relatable that my nephew calmed down and let Dr. Ash do his thing. My nephew even started asking questions about cleaning and teeth and after what he learned from Dr. Ash and having let go of his fear, now he regularly brushes his teeth really well and is already looking forward to his next visit.
