My nieces have been…read moregoing here for years to check out their summer books - we have a summer residence in SSP, and Upper Shores is a short car ride (or bike ride) away. Recently, we spent some time here on a rainy day to just read and chill out. First, if you're an avid reader, Upper Shores has a great selection (both in person and online) of books. The library does appear a bit on the small side, but don't let that fool you! In addition, the staff will be happy to order you a book on loan from another library and they're usually there within a day or so. Their loan time on Libby (which you should all download for e-books and audiobooks) is 21 days which is better than my local library at 14 days. The app is also a coinvent way to look up and place a hold on desired books so they can be ready for pickup. As I mentioned, I also spent a wonderful afternoon here with my nieces. We parked ourselves in some comfy chairs and read for a few hours. There is plenty of space to do just that - and I was pleasantly surprised with the free phone charger locker that fast-charged my phone in a matter of minutes. I also know they have a great selection of programs available for kids throughout the summer, too! One thing I will say: it is very difficult to get a library card here. Only tax-paying residents that show proof of address can get a card here. Therefore, my parents are entitled to a card but I (as a member of their household) am not. The same goes for my nieces - even though they are in elementary school, they are not entitled to a card as a member of their parents' household. So I registered my mom for a card and am using her number to take out books. The staff kindly but firmly talked me through this whole process. I understand why, however - there are so many transients in the area, I can see a vacationer borrow books and never give them back. You are entitled to a guest card for 10 dollars if you aren't a taxpayer, however it's only good for four weeks. Regardless, library are important cornerstones of communities, and I am very happy to use / support Upper Shores!

I utilized the library for their work space since I work remotely. They had great internet speeds and plenty of outlets for charging. The restroom was clean and they have one large meeting room. This library is nice as it has a parking lot and there is a baseball field right behind the library. The beach is two short blocks away I spent my time between listening to the waves and working from here.

This of course happens when i listen to lighter stuff like classical but I shouldnt have to turn on loud music just to drown out the laughter and super loud talking from staff down stairs. I heard the manager("big" white woman with black hair and glasses) bad mouth a patron as well. This is not the best branch to go to if you want to study. Some of the staff at the front desk on the first floor are a bit brash as well.

i love this library and i've come here since i was a kid…read more they have a bunch of video games for switch, ps5, xbox, and ps4. when i was a kid they had wii games i'd rent they have a lot of different stuff even more niche stuff like a bunch of manga series and more they have an event calendar for different events at the library for stuff like interactive programs, stuff for black history month, themed activities like learning different art skills and crafts, stuff for pride month, etc. i've never been to any of the events but there's a bunch you can go to. they just added a "sensory space" which is a room upstairs you can fidget around and lay around in and it's pretty cool, the downside is a staff member has to stand in the room while you're in there to make sure nothing goes wrong which is awkward, so i don't go in. the teen section is nice i just wish they didnt get rid of the couch they have dvds, movies, all stuff like that you can rent being able to use the computers and printers is cool, and they just added a kiosk thing recently where you can check out a macbook air or a windows laptop by using your library card which is really cool if you wanna use a laptop. the worst part, which isn't the library's fault; every single time i've ever come in here, which is dozens and dozens of times over my whole life, there is ALWAYS a kid screaming and crying. every time i come, eventually while i'm there some kid starts having a meltdown while their parents let them and it's obnoxious, and the staff does nothing about it. if you actually need to study that might make it hard, but it's usually only one kid and they're usually downstairs in the kid area away from the study/work areas upstairs so at least you can tune it out.

The DVD and audio selection is equally as great. There is a meeting room where monthly activities and clubs are held, too. There are special spaces for children, teens, and adults. Lots of tables and study areas, and some public computers for free usage with your library card. You can print, fax, and copy for a small fee and even get books shipped in from other libraries. Great place to go to study or pick something out.

I had a deeply unsatisfactory experience with Ocean County Community College. I was charged for a…read morecourse I never attended, and despite reaching out multiple times, I received no help or resolution. In May, I was contacted two days after the course began and informed the representative that I would not be participating because the class did not meet the qualifications I needed for my education. I was locked out of my OCC account and couldn't disenroll myself, but the woman I spoke with assured me she would process it on her end. I confirmed this with her and trusted the matter was handled. Months later, I was shocked to see a charge for that same course. I called the admissions office on January 11th and explained the situation, including that I was unable to access my account or view any billing info. I also mentioned that I was misinformed about the course transferring to my current school -- it turned out to be pass/fail and therefore not valid for graduate programs. I emailed OCC with a detailed explanation and request for help -- and got no response. I called multiple times trying to get assistance logging into my account or disputing the charge and got nowhere. I was completely ignored when I needed support the most. I would not recommend this institution based on how poorly they treat students who run into problems. No one should have to deal with this kind of negligence or lack of accountability

I took online and on campus classes and for the most part they were enjoyable. Professors I met in person were great, knew their subject and we're passionate about it. Class sizes were great too. Would recommend it in a heart beat as a way to jump start your education as ether a high school senior or as an adult student.

They also have free wifi. Friendly staff and great selections, life can't get any better than that. Went into the children's area because that's where their bathroom is. Met the children's librarian as she was doing a craft with the kids. She told me she's only there on Thursdays. She reads and usually does a craft with them. She's very friendly and really good with the children.
