When I requested a two-hour massage, the receptionist pulled her face in disgust and shook her head, as if to say "no." She suggested 90 minutes. Why advertise 2 hours if you would rather not do it? Very few people speak English and will only pull out a phone for translation if you start to get upset because you can't communicate. Nothing about my experience here was pleasant. The lady working at the front was rude and didn't speak any English, so she got very frustrated when I couldn't understand what she was saying. The entire place smelled like old Chinese food which killed the vibe. My masseuse, Peter, was extremely inappropriate and left me feeling extremely uncomfortable and violated, even going so far as to kiss me on the cheek. Wife and I are in town and we were looking for a massage place. We are from the South Bay and have been getting massages religiously. So we know a good massage from a bad one, and this was a bad one. So many things were wrong and red flags all around. Prior to my massage, I needed to use the bathroom, the masseuse was using the restroom, didn't lock the door so I walked in on him. Very disappointing, went in for a relaxing muscle pain relief massage, but It was a waste of money! I got slathered up so oily, I felt like a greased pig, then the woman just kept sliding her hands back and forth so fast that she could have been trying to start a fire. That was the massage, oily and at high speed without any real contact with my muscles just my skin. I don't know of any massage method that this is the practice, if there is please let me know so I can avoid it in the future! I can't help but wonder if the place doesn't pay the massage staff anything because they don't just leave a tip tray out, they point at it and keep asking (in their language) over and over. I usually tip according to my finances and the skill of the masseuse, I would have left something, probably not much (because the massage sucked!) I had to go to the car for cash because I didn't want to charge a second charge to my CC, and the workers stared out the window at me like I want going to pay, I had pre-paid for the massage, at first I was angry at being pressured, then thought maybe the workers only get paid by tips? Not sure the legality of that, maybe the city/county should check this out?? As for the massage person I received, I am sure you wore yourself out moving so fast for an hour, if you use 1/4 the amount of oil/lotion, move slower along the muscles, pressing deep and holding at larger muscle/tissue areas, like hips/buttocks, you would not use as much energy and your clients would enjoy it much more, and tips would be much larger. read more

I am sorry for the long review,, I came here once before and left a bad review. Well here I am again, feeling stupid that I went there again. I only went this time because I normally go to Michael's Reflexology, but that place shut down and they now work out of this one. I never had problems with Michaels so I thought it would be ok to go here. knowing I would have a different person then last time, The only two good things I can say about this place is now they have red curtains surrounding the bed that you lay on, so it gives you some privacy, also they have a list of things they can do besides just two things. Well the man who gave me a massage, was massaging my head, when he got to my ears, he massaged them but then he put his fingers in my ears a couple times, then he went to rub my temples, but it wasn't a nice pressure, I felt like my head was in a vice, like my head was being squeezed, then he was putting pressure on the top of my head and working down the top of my head, but he put too much pressure on my head. Of course by now I should had said something, but stupid me kept quiet. He did the normal massage on the arms, and hands and such, and he did fine on that, and he did a great job on the feet and legs, but then when I flipped around and laid on my stomach and he was massaging my back, he put so much pressure on my spine and at the top of my spine, and at the base of skull were in horrible pain. I already have spine problems, and this just made it worse. when he was done, he whispered "I am done" (as they always do) or so I thought that is what he said, and then I thought he left but apparently he just left for a second and came back in without me knowing, I got sat up to put my shoes on, and then without warning he grabs my shoulders from behind, and pushes his knees into my spine. I really should had screamed for him to stop but I didn't want to make a scene, and I should had. I regret it now. He tried to do a chiropractor move without being one, and of course it didn't help my back, it didn't crack it, or massage it. My spine has degenerative disc disease and by going here, it just made the pain worse. I am pretty upset at this place, and myself. I guess you get what you pay for, I understand one bad masseuse does not mean all of them are bad, just be careful if you go here. read more

Wonderful! I got an amazing massage for an incredible price. She really put a lot of love into it, and she was clearly skilled. The foot reflexology was spot-on---yes a bit uncomfortable at times because that indicates why I need it!---but that's to be expected. Here's the thing about this place you need to understand: the reason it's so cheap ($25.99/hour at the time I'm writing this---less than half of what most massages cost!) is because it is a different sort of business model. Which you may or may not dig. There is a front room with two massage chair/lounges and so you're "in public" (but have your clothes on). You may end up in a private room, depending on what you ordered from the massage menu, so to speak. Culturally, it may come as a shock to certain persons that the massage therapist is casually chatting with her co-worker while working your tired muscles. As for me, this is all perfectly okay. I enjoyed the cameraderie that these ladies have, and hearing the beautiful sounds of their language. Not distracting to me because I didn't understand a word of it, and they kept their volumes tastefully low. And yes, with an hourly rate that low (hello? it's California, people!) they absolutely DO rely on tips to make it work. What's wrong with that? Even if you give a fat tip of 40% that's still just ten bucks, and a kick-ass massage for $36 is not easy to come by elsewhere. I was actually amazed at how diligently they work for seemingly low wages--I suppose that is the beauty of perspective when you come from another country and appreciate the incredible bounty and abundance we have here. If you want reflexology, Ocean Spa is your place. For the quality, it is a steal. The owner is not only accomplished in this old Chinese therapy, he works intuitively, and not by rote. He will find the problem spots and work on them. If you have problems in your feet and legs, reflexology might hurt the first few times. As a massage therapist myself, I knew I had to stick with the program to get results. I now go as regularly as my budget allows. read more

Never go there again they talked through my whole massage. I had 3 spiders crawl on me during my massage. The water that they put my feet in was scalding hot. When I was done with my massage I had oil spots all over my shirt and when I went to pay all they wanted to know was how much of a tip I was leaving. First I want to kick myself for coming back. Even before I got my massage, I kindly asked the lady not to be on the phone. Today was my birthday and all I wanted was a moment to relax after a long day at work. I paid $80 massage for 90 minutes. I set a timer on my phone for 90 minutes. All I can say is after the 1st 20 minutes my massage experience was ruined. I believe the lady's name is Lily and she left her notifications on and there was a lot of messages coming through and she kept checking her messages and made a 2 minute phone call while in my view. At least 2 to 3 times a gentleman came by talking to her and she had to leave the Room. She massaged one hand and not the other, exposed my breasts‍. She was pretty much doing a rush job. Seriously I do not know why I persevered all this time I should have just got up and left. After I was done I check the timer and guess what my massage was not 90 minutes. As I proceeded to pay, the lady had the balls to keep asking for a tip (entitlement)and when I gave her a 10 dollar tip she got very upset with me. So in short I wasted my $80 for 90 minutes for a 60 minute massage plus $10 tip. Don't ask why I tipped after all this ( my friend was with me and I didn't want her to flip at my outburst). Just ruined my birthday experience. I will never go back there. At least not with Lilly. She is the worst if them. Once bitten twice shy. My friend said she enjoyed her massage. I have had 30-40 massages here. They have varied in quality. I have had outstanding(amazing) massages here. I have had good massages here. The staff changes from time to time. I have had favorites whom I have seen multiple times. I have never received a poor quality massage here. The women work very hard and I have felt like I got my money's worth almost every time. All of my visits have been professional and the training of the therapists was obvious. The location is good. The room size is decent. The tables are high quality and very comfortable. There is a shower available upon request. Walk in service is welcome. Making appt.'s has been tricky a couple of times because of the language barrier. Usually I walk in and realize that I am taking a chance and may have to wait. I would recommend this place. read more

I have gone to this place 6 times and the massage therapist that was the best left. Today I had a so-so 'rub down' more than a massage for $70/90 minutes. I tipped the gal and she said that I didn't tip her enough. I couldn't believe what she said and asked her to repeat it to make sure I didn't misunderstand her poor English. Yep. I told her I had had better ones and left. Guess I won't be back; and I had earned enough visit points for my next one to include a free 30 minutes! This place is a joke and a rip off. I got a massage here for the asking price and as she finished they gave me a cup of water on a plate. The massage was nice for the price, but nothing extremely out of the ordinary when comparing to the walk-in ones at the mall. However, after I drank the water on the plate there was a sign that says "TIPS." Well you pay first before the massage even begins and for me I dont carry cash. So they are more than generous to re-swipe your card and then ask you "how much do you want to tip." In all the massages I have ever had I have always paid the asking price and maybe tip a few extra bucks. I told the guy I'll tip 5 cause I already paid the asking price. That's when he tells me "Well if you like the massage you should tip more then." He continued to harass me about needing to tip more and how I am ungrateful and cheap for not tipping more. I asked him, "Well then how much do you think?" He comes back with, "At least $20 on top of what you already paid." To me this is bad service. No where in the store does it state "Masseuse works on Tips" and the fact both of them were so persistent that I give them more money was just BAD SERVICE! He told me the tip I offered wasn't even worth his while and that he wouldn't slide my card. He also "DONT COME BACK UNLESS YOU WANT TO PUT MORE MONEY!" It was just an okay massage. If this is the only place you have gotten one, then I would definitely search for other options because there is much better out there. The second part is that this is the 2ND TIME I have had to put this negative feedback down because there was my bad review and two others with similar experiences that are no longer showing as reviewed this place. I highly doubt that any of these employees giving massage have actually studied massage and received a school of massage certification and state licensing. Almost everyone puts pressure on top of the knees and on the backside of the knees (no, no, don't do that!!) and also I've had to stop employees from putting pressure directly on my spine (a worse no-no which can result in serious injury) I've never had any sign that these people know anything about reflexology which they advertise. If you get a person who knows what she is doing, you may enjoy a pleasant hour. I've been in the middle of a massage when a client came in requesting the employee that was working on me, so they wanted to switch me out to someone else (I said no); sometimes the phone rings and they stop massage to answer it or attend to someone coming in the door. These interruptions and conversation take away from a good experience. I would like the towels changed after each client. Real cleanliness is lacking. It's the low price which keeps people coming back. read more
