This is a nice seaside hotel. It is very similar to the Islander Inn next to it. I had a bad experience at the Islander Inn the previous year and we gave the Ocean Isle Inn a chance. The rooms were clean, the staff were nice and efficient, and the amenities were updated and in working order. The a/c worked so well! We stayed cool the whole trip. The breakfast provided was simple (cereal, waffles, microwaveable sausage biscuits, yogurt, etc). They need more fresh fruit and some other protein options. It's carb heavy. I had three big complaints. 1. The beds were really high off the ground and my friend has knee trouble and struggled. 2. There is pool seating, but not enough lounge chairs. 3. The breezeway doors are terrible. They are wooden doors with low doorknobs. I almost got hit hard in the head. The Islander Inn had glass doors that push/pull which is safer and easier with the luggage carts. read more

I paid $150 for a king size room with oceanfront balcony, unbelievable. The view is beautiful and you can enjoy the sounds of the crashing waves. The view is gorgeous. That's about all the good I have to say about this place. I left my "Service" tag on the doorknob one day and they must of thought it said "Privacy" because my room didn't get cleaned that day. I had to check out 2 days early and they wouldn't refund those 2 days to me. I have never had that happen before. The free breakfast wasn't worth the price of free. So sorry to leave this review. Had they refunded me two days, the other things wouldn't have mattered. So now they will book the room and get twice the price. Try somewhere else. The whole place could use an update. read more

I saw many of the 3 star and below reviews and decided to try it anyhow. I showed up at 3:30 and was greeted by a nice enough fella. They even used new pens and then put my pen in a used pile. I'm hoping they clean or wipe them down later. They gave me two keys and the Wi-Fi code which was easy enough to type in. The room was on the second floor with a balcony facing the ocean. They had a microwave, coffee maker, fridge. They also had an iron and ironing board which I needed for once since I had to meet a client. Later on, I stuck my hand in the pool and noticed it was warm. They said it's a heated pool. They also had an indoor pool and hot tub. I had to buy swim trunks because I never use the pool or ocean. I used the indoor pool at 10:30. There were a few kids but they were just having fun and it didn't take away from my enjoyment. They also have a morning breakfast. They had hard boiled eggs, waffle maker, cereal, frozen sausage sandwich things, cereal bars, yogurt, apples and bananas, jelly, English muffins, bagels, bread. Basically, there's something for people who don't eat eggs or milk or have food allergies. There is also a decent bar close by and a wine bar also that is within walking distance. The parking was a bit crowded when I got home Friday night, but I found a spot. I don't see myself ever being in the area again, but I would stay here. The Inn is our go-to place in the off-season. As I like to say, the Inn is not the Hilton, but it's decent accommodation for what it offers. Situated on the Ocean Isle Beach, I recommend a beach view room for spectacular views of sunrises (over pier) and sunsets (on beach). Inn offers an indoor/outdoor pool (although outdoor pool drained/closed for season). The continental breakfast consists of standard offerings (Belgian waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, pastries, coffee and juice). The Inn has direct beach access, a is short walk to pier, mini golf, Museum of Coastal Carolina, Town Park playground, and other businesses. Unfortunately, some businesses are closed in the off-season, so be sure to confirm they're open before making the trek! As I mentioned, it's a great getaway, however, BEWARE--construction is currently taking place (replacing siding, remodeling bathrooms) from 11/1-2/28. I don't recall this being mentioned at time of online reservation, but is in the fine print at bottom of reservation confirmation. Enjoy! read more

When checking in we were not told that housekeeping was not done anymore. After three nights we asked if we could get née towels & asked what to do with the room trash we had collected. Ww also needed toilet paper, new trash bags. We were told at that time that there was no housekeeping services available unless we provide a 24 hour advanced request. Are you serious?? How do guests know this if no one communicates it to them?? I spoke to 4 other guests today & they said no one explained this to them either. The front desk staff was rude, very rude. There is no discount for the rooms even though room service is not offered. I slipped in the pool area on the wood & fell. I told a staff member it had something very slippery on it & to have the manager Lee call me but no one ever did. I asked if we could do a late check out due to a flight change & was told because they need to get in to clean the room they cannot accommodate me. What room cleaning. It doesn't seem to get done often. I'm amazed at how much they just don't care to accommodate their guests. Will never stay here again. read more

The ocean view would be the best thing (if you get an ocean view room). The rooms are clean. The room we had, had a loud noise anytime you got up to walk. Not sure what it was. Most disappointing thing, just because we had a son that looks forward to swimming, was the inside pool. We have stayed here twice, last year and this year. Both times the inside pool was open when we checked in, but when we go to swim, the pool is closed. Both times it was supposedly due to someone pooping in it. I'm not for sure if that actually happened or if it's just an excuse to shut the pool down. When someone stays at your hotel just because of the inside pool and this happens, you should give a partial refund. I have a hard time believing we were just lucky enough to have this happen twice. As for the breakfast, you may want to go to McDonald's. When we visit Ocean Isle again, we will be looking for a different place to stay. read more

Stopped for a night on our drive north. Absolutely great location, right on the ocean. We had a third floor room and our balcony looked over the outdoor pool and the short walk to the ocean. It even had two rocking chairs! Friendly staff but no masks, just behind plexiglas. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Walls are somewhat thin, we could hear the people in the room next door. We love staying at Ocean Isle Inn. It is our only option when it comes to ease of access to a clean beach and hospitality in the quaint little town of Ocean Isle. It really makes the beach experience quite pleasant at a reasonable rate, unlike other "touristy" countarparts down the road. The check-in is alway hassle free and friendly. It is in close proximity to other beach amenities, such as Sunset Slush (yumm) and restaurants. Easy to get to from the main roads and clean. They could upgrade the rooms a little bit, to make it more modern, but who really stays in their room when you're at the beach? WARNING: there are 2 feral cats living underneath the stairs near Tahiti and Java...maybe they're not quite feral since there seems to be someone feeding them. Nonetheless, watch out for cat feces, it's everywhere! Watch your step!! read more

While we had high expectations based on reviews, the reality of it was, the Ocean Isle Inn fell way short of a quality hotel. First and foremost, the hotel is NOT ADA accessible (there is no ramp and there is only one elevator for all the separate housing units). The parking is also an issue with not enough spaces nor adequate handicap parking. The room was dated and because it was off - season they didn't have daily housekeeping. Given the price, and the above issues, we will be looking for a different hotel next time we visit. read more

This place was overall, very grand and nice. Has both an indoor and outdoor pool, which was bordering the beach. There was a hot tub indoors as well, and a grassy area with a gazebo next to the outdoor pool. The rooms are tidy and efficient. Everything is in well order, and has regular cleaning service. Staircase and elevator, and different rooms grouped into one space (Maui, etc...) Breakfast room with a variety of options; waffles and oatmeal and cereal, as well as coffee and creamers and whipped cream and maple syrup. The whole inn is practically next to the beach, and is perfect and ideal for those visiting Ocean Isle. read more

It is ON the beach. The balconies overlook the ocean. There was sufficient parking right behind our unit. Prices were fair. The rooms are clean. Breakfast is included. (an adequate hot breakfast). The staff is friendly and accomodating. My wife was VERY pleased, and she is hard to please. We'll be back. She is already thinking about getting her daughter married there. I would avoid adjoining rooms, as the doors do transmit some sound. But we always bring our fan with us, so it was not an issue. We'll be back. The outdoor pool was warm, the indoor pool was less warm, even though they claim it is heated. Guests at the outside pool had been there to a wedding last Oct. and had complaints about the coldness of the interior pool back then, so vacationers would probably be well-advised to assume the indoor pool is NOT heated. Then we went to our room and BEFORE entering it we decided we wanted to upgrade to a room with an oceanfront view. So we went back to the office and asked a different woman (other lady was gone) and she told us the only way to upgrade was by contacting booking.com (we made the reservation through them). Entered our room for all of about 10 minutes when Bookings called the front desk for us. They were told that we could not switcH rooms because we had already checked-in. My husband and I stayed at the Ocean Isle Inn about 20 years ago when we were dating. We had a terrific time and always talked about going back. So this year when my husband suggested that we go to Ocean Isle Beach for our summer road trip - I agreed immediately. We were so excited to bring our son along and give him a wonderful vacation experience. So we drove the 1,100 miles to OIB in such anticipation of a fabulous time. Instead we had a semi miserable experience with issue after issue. I booked the reservation on Booking.com for 4 nights in an Ocean Front room. When we got there we were given the keys to a Sound View room - the "sound" is barely visible and at least a mile away; and what the room really overlooked was the very, very busy road, an active sidewalk, and a parking lot. When I went to the front desk to request the ocean view room I had booked, I was told that I had booked a Sound-View room and that they were all booked up so I could "take it or leave it" the clerk said with a shrug. When I explained to him that I had called and confirmed it was an Ocean View - he shrugged again and told me the price I paid was for a sound view (it was not - I paid for an ocean view and my booking email said I reserved an Ocean View room) and that there was nothing he could do. The room, in addition to the paper-thin walls and the smell of a$$ and feet blowing from the air conditioner - was filthy. There was sand all over the floors, the toilet had hair and pee from previous guest(s) and yes - I mean plural, it was clear to me that the toilet in our room had not been cleaned in quite a while. The drains in both sinks and the tub were clogged and there were stains on the coverlet of one of the beds. When the maids supposedly came to clean - they made up the beds with our dirty (sandy) sheets, brought coffee and cups for the room and swapped the dirty towels for clean ones. There was absolutely no cleaning going on and I do not believe they even bother to sweep the floors. I finally gave in and asked the front desk for a broom so I could sweep them myself. They gave me a broom clogged with hair and dirt - and that folks was the broom I used to sweep the floors of the hotel room I paid nearly 200 a night for the pleasure of staying in. The water was cloudy in both pools - I have never seen such a thing in my 42 years on this earth. Lastly,I have to mention the breakfast. It was gross. It is as though the owners of the hotel found a bargain basement hotel supply store and stocked up on every generic, tasteless, unhealthy piece of fake food available. They had waffles that tasted like paste, stale and slightly damp cereal in big bins that I watched little kids reach in and grab out handful after handful. And these amazingly disgusting breakfast sandwiches that I threw away after one bite. No fresh fruit, no granola, no eggs or real pastry - just highly processed crap that was impossible to eat. the cranberry juice was so watered down it barely deserved the name. And the do-it-yourself waffle iron is a hazard. My son, in an effort to remove a stuck waffle, burned his fingers so badly he had blisters. This review cannot begin to express how disappointed I am with the entire experience. We checked out of the Ocean Isle Inn this morning and tonight I sleep in a real hotel, in a clean room with clean sheets and a staff that gives a hoot. I will NEVER go back to that hotel. read more

More walking than I care do to do get on the beach with all the gear, no stove/oven in rooms makes it hard with little options for resturants in walking/biking distance. We had a terrible stay at this place. The rooms are old and dirty. They do not keep management on site during the weekends. And the worse part is we saw a roach crawling up the wall (see photo). We took a photo and called the front desk about the matter. They offered to move us to another room after 2am, instead of offering us our money back and letting us leave. We are very clean ppl and do not have and have never had roaches in our home, so this was a disgusting disgrace to us. When we stay in a hotel, we expect comfort & cleanliness; we got neither! We had nowhere us to go; and the thought of moving all of our belongings to another room, getting settled in that room by 3am, and then seeing another roach, would have been even more awful! If you have roaches in one room you have them in all rooms! I couldn't sleep the rest of the night. I was afraid a roach would crawl on my face or something. When the manager Lee Shapiro finally called us back a half a week later, he spoke to us with no compassion or consideration of our stay at all. First he admitted over the phone that roaches are common for their area; then later when we asked for our money back, in an email he stated basically the roach had to have been brought into the room by us, because they have their "roach motel" professionally exterminated. Don't take any chances with staying at this place. Please find somewhere else. If you do decide to stay, you better bring a can of RAID with you! And by the way, the front desk staff (Mallory, etc.) did not wear face mask! read more

We just had a very nice weekend at our favorite beach. Ocean Isle inn was nice, clean and is in a great location. It is not resort caliber, but we know that going in. The price was excellent, the view outstanding, the bed comfortable, , the room was clean with a refrigerator and microwave, but the tv was old def and breakfast was mediocre( skipable). We love this place. We stay here every time we go to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. We enjoy the oceanfront king room that has everything we need. The hotel manager is the nicest guy who did such a wonderful job with our elopement. The rooms are clean and right on the beach with a fabulous view of the ocean. The employees are sweet and greet you with a friendly smile. We love the breakfast included with our room. They have a waffle machine, fruit loops and other cereals, milk, juices, yogurt, and lots of pastries. It is within walking distance to the Annual Oyster Festival where parking and traffic are dreadful. We simple walk to the festival and enjoy the festivities. The walls here are thin as other reviewers stated, however because we stayed in March this really wasn't that big of an issue. The breakfast was just ok with your typical cereal, bagel, and waffles. My husband and I came here for a relaxing weekend only to be severely disappointed. We can look past how old this inn is and lackluster customer service at check in. What we cannot get over is how paper thin the walls are. We heard all our neighbors and it was fine the first night but the second night, we thought we were in the middle of a college fraternity party at the zoo. I don't know a more accurate way to describe all the animals shrieks and yelling. Oh not to mention the fire alarm went off at 11pm adding to the fun. We stayed here for a one night quick trip to the beach, and it met all of our needs fantastically. The views from the balcony was great (worth it to spend a few extra $$$ for a beachside room), the beach access was convenient, and the price was great. While not fancy, the rooms were clean ; comfortable; and fully equipped with everything we needed or wanted. There are a lot of stairs to traverse, but there is an elevator if you didn't mind walking a few buildings over (they're all connected by a walkway.) I would say that the walls and doors seemed to let all the noise from the hallways in, this wasn't a problem during our stay; but if there was a loud and boisterous group visiting I could see it being an issue. The continental breakfast wasn't anything fancy, but it was just fine. They even had bacon-egg-cheese sandwiches that you could heat up. read more

As our visit here is slowly creeping to an end, I've got to experience the positives and negatives of this hotel. This is a great hotel for easy accessibility to the beach and a wonderful view. He have a Oceanside view and we are overly satisfied with what we have. We can access the beach through the gate that also leads to the hotel pool. The pool is crystal clear. You can also access the indoor pool which is also very clean. The chairs are comfortable to sunbathe in if you feel like laying out by the pool instead of the ocean. The hotel is great if you are going to be walking a lot. We have only driven twice and that was to go to the different islands. We walk to get our meals and shop. The desk clerk was very friendly and willing to give us any information we may have. This is a pretty open hotel, it's not fully enclosed. They do have vending on the ground floor and ice machines. It's only two stories high which is nice and easily accessible. Now, there is somethings that bothered me. The maids fail to sweep out from behind everything. We had Chapstick and pretzels behind a nightstand and they were not ours! I also feel like the bed sheets need changed more often as people tend to track in sand and may get it under the covers. Other than that, they stock the bathrooms very well and make everything up nice and today. The breakfast? Blah. It's okay. It's free. Don't really expect much. I was also freaked out not once, but twice over jumbo cockroaches outside the hotel. One on the floor level that creepy crawled past me and one trying to get into our hotel room from our balcony. HUGE. I haven't seen any since we've arrived but that should probably be something you should look into treating. Other than some negative things, the room was awesome. We've been staying at Ocean Isle Inn for 5-6 years now and it's with a heavy heart we vowed to never return after this weekend. The hotel is in a great location. Walk out your room, down the stairs and you are on the sand, but the way they handled their error this weekend was probably the worst customer experience I've ever dealt with. Here's a small taste of what went down: I made a reservation in June for an oceanfront room, as I have every year. When we arrived we were given a small standard room next to the stairwell at the top of theTahiti Building. I confronted the manager, who informed me they were completely sold out of oceanfront rooms and this must be a Hotels.com error. After spending the first few hours of my trip on the phone with Hotels.com customer service, they confirmed I was supposed to have an oceanfront room and informed me that the error was in fact the hotel's fault. Hotels.com assured me they would speak with the general manager for me, who admitted that it was Ocean Isle Inn's error, but offered no refund or free oceanfront room on a different weekend. After searching for an oceanfront room at all the other hotels in the area and not having any luck, we realized our only option was to try to put this behind us and to have a great time at the beach, and to spend as little time in our room as possible. It may sound picky of me to make such a big deal about which side of the hotel we stayed on, but it's for good reason. The oceanfront rooms are great for families. Oceanfront rooms at Ocean Isle Inn have balconies. When you put the kids to bed, you and your partner can sit outside, stay up late talking, have a drink and let the sounds and smells of the ocean drown out stress, and all other sounds in the hotel. Since our room didn't have a balcony, we were all in bed every night by 9, struggling to fall asleep to the sounds of cars driving by, a baby crying, teenagers trying to open the adjoining door to our room and the stairwell door slamming all night. We could have been at a Motel 6 on the interstate once we were in the room, it would have been the exact same experience. After not having any sort of family vacation in over 2 years, we were really looking forward to a relaxing weekend at the beach and Ocean Isle Inn. We had a great time in that area, but the hotel customer experience left a horrible taste in my mouth and all I could feel like was that I was scammed out of an oceanfront room which was offered up to someone booking a block of rooms for a wedding or someone else they determined was more important than my family. Once I choked down my pride and told Hotels.com and the general manager I would stay, I would have hoped the hotel would have offered to give us something back to save the relationship we've built over the 5-6 years we've been customers. Unfortunately none of that was important to the manager and now my family will be spending our money elsewhere. read more
