Our first time here for our Anniversary getaway! It's was very clean and such super nice staff here. We walked a cross the street to the beach. We along the beach I think we did over 14,899 steppes that day. And watched the the sunset..beautiful sunsets Great fire pits 3 to choose from with very nice fireplace too Lots chairs and tables to read & covered areas too. Pool and jacuzzi in the back. Parking is all round the building first come first serve They have good size suites, some with yards it's turf green not grass. This resort is well kept. Flowers all around very green and with Big tiki's too And quiet too which is very relaxing here and close to the Village and stores & restaurants are walking distance is plus. You can come up on the train it stops here so you don't need to drive too.

Awesome boutique hotel in Carlsbad, CA! I absolutely LOVE this gem of a place. **limited parking available, so large vehicles (sprinter vans, vans, full sized trucks will be difficult to park) This place is awesome. Over 120 boutique hotel rooms nestled in a tranquil, lush, and quiet area. Within 2 minutes walking distance to the public beach access point (sand volleyball courts) where you can swim, surf, sunbathe, or just chill on one of the several park benches overlooking the water. Check-in is within a specific time window, so pay attention to what time you'll arrive. Again, this is a boutique hotel, not a Marriott, so the office hours are not what one would normally expect. This place offers a continental breakfast, coffee (no decaf), and an assortment of teas. There's a small gym too (hours 07:30 a.m.-1000pm and you'll need to ask the front desk for a single use key card to get in). Free weight stack from 5lbs - 50lbs. A large combination machine, includes leg press, chest pec Dec, reverse fly machine, triceps, and preacher curl. There's a treadmill, elliptical and a bike, as well as an adductor/abbductor machine. They even have a squat rack with a flat bench, and an adjustable bench. If you're somewhat familiar with gym equipment, you'll be able to make it work. Additionally, this place has a pool and a hot tub. Rooms are upgraded interiors, nice shower and single sink, full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, oven) minus the microwave (rm 221), other rooms may have different set ups. This truly is a little slice of heaven. So, come check it out!

Trip to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday. Staff was super accommodating when there was an issue with our room. Really beautiful grounds, super close to the beach (literally within walking distance, right across the street). The patio area has fire pits Thad come on each night, making for a great place to hang out. We enjoyed the Starbucks coffee in the lobby. The grounds at this resort will transport you to a tropical island. We will be back!

We've been coming here for probably the past 10 years. We're locals we live in San Marcos but this is our go to place. It's clean. It's very comfortable. It's very relaxed and the people at the front are wonderful. it's not stuffy. You feel like your family member.

Just a cute design detail .

If you are looking for lodging that is uniquely SoCal beach, this is the place for you. Though not extravagantly appointed- no gold gilded chandeliers- it is both lovely and comfortable in a genuine sort of way. I stayed in one of their least expensive rooms ( luxury studio). It was generous in space and decorated in a vintage California beach sort of style . The grounds are remarkably lush and serene for a location just across the street from the ocean, with ample outdoor seating options. Included are a pool and jacuzzi. Also included are beach chairs and towels to take to the beach with you. Very child friendly vibe. If you like to stay in places that actually represent a particular area rather than a more generic chain ( for instance), Ocean Palms is a great choice for you and for your family.

This is our 3rd visit to this property which we discovered 1 year ago...we LOVE it here..the staff. ALL of them at the front desk are consistently excellent..helpful, professional, friendly and a pleasure to interact with (Beau, Barry, Kendra, Lori and shame on us for forgetting the other names.). The housekeeping staff as well. The property is so well manicured and maintained and the rooms so clean and comfortable..location could not be better with respect to the beach and restaurants..we consider ourselves regulars now and will definitely be back..pool, hot tub and fitness center giant plusses as well. Continental breakfast way more than satisfactory along with all day snacks and beverages. Thank all of you at Ocean Palms Beach Resort, the best!!

Ocean Palms Beach Resort is a small sized resort, just a block away from Carlsbad State Beach. It is also within walking distance of the many fine restaurants, cafes and boutiques. What makes this a nice vacation experience is the above mentioned. While the other resorts in the town are huge with a lots of people and activity, Ocean Palms feels more low key, fewer people and less noise. Simple amenities are offered in their Check In office such as a self service Starbucks coffee machine, fruits, snacks, juices. Outdoors, a pool and lounge area with fire pits. The rooms are nicely decorated, simple but comfortable enough accomodations for a daytime refresher or overnight stay. If you want a less crowded resort, right across from the beach, away from the busy part of town, Ocean Palms Resort is a nice choice!

The hotel is right by the beach! Our room was very nice and clean. I love the fire pits that they have going a couple of hours at night. The wide range of amenities makes this hotel worth the price. It is located near downtown Carlsbad and the small eateries are within walking distance. The service is very friendly! They have towels you can take to the beach and they also let you borrow chairs. They probably have sand toys too. The continental breakfast is convenient. I knocked Off one star because on the dates that we were there it (June 17-19) it seemed that the ladies at the front desk were not as enthused about their jobs as they guys were. The two young men were definitely so much more helpful and friendlier.

This is our 4th time back over the last several years and we absolutely love it here. The rooms are updated and clean, it's just steps away from the beach, and the staff is so friendly. We really appreciated help from Beau at the front desk. He was so helpful to recommendations for lunch and dinner, that turned out to be delicious, and he was so nice to our kiddos. They have beach/pool towels that you can check out along with umbrellas and boogie boards. Complimentary grab-and-go style breakfast, Starbucks coffee and juices were a hit everyday. We will definitely be back!

Harassed and forced to check out early. My family and I stayed during the 4th of July weekend. The place is beautiful, family owned and BO (owner's son) was very hospitable. I got good vibes from him. But my issue with this place is an ethical one. Apparently there was a guest next door who complained we made too much noise on the night of 4th of July (fireworks going off all night). How much noise can a family with a 3 year old and 9 month baby make? The fireworks didn't keep you up lady? The manager (Jose) notified us that we made noise. He did not even give me 5 minutes to correct the issue and then sent a security guard to my room. Scared the hell out of my wife and kids. Then i realised, this was not about noise. This was a discrimination against us muslims. My wife covers herself from head to toe in a muslim garment. This other guest who made complaints against us obviously did not like us. I notified the manager, that I have realised that this is an act of discrimination and not about noise. Its 4th of July, there are fireworks going off louder than my children and it sounds like a war zone. If your hotel does not stand for this, now is the time to make a stand. Actions speak louder than words. I demanded a full refund from the management and checked out early (10:40pm). While trying to pack, jose calls and asks when will I be checking out? (Basically means hurry up). We left the hotel and I ended up getting a room At the Omni resort. We didn't get any noise complaints there because that place is civilised and accepting of us; A real resort. I am sad to say this, but the management only gave me one night's refund. I did no wish to write this negative review, because I understand times are tough. I really liked BO because of his hospitality. Perhaps if BO was present that evening, things may have turned out different for us. However, I think because of the humiliation my family and I experienced, if the management has any humanity in them: we deserve a full refund of our whole stay.

The bed was so comfy and there was a large sitting area with a TV. We got room service and every food we chose was delicious! We rented chairs and an umbrella for our beach day and we spent so much time on our balcony watching wildlife, surfers, people fishing, the waves. The pool also was heated and so lovely to jump in after a day in the ocean. They had live music around the pool Saturday night! It was walking distance from so many stores and restaurants. We appreciated the complementary breakfast. The towels and bedding were clean, and the hotel staff kept providing fresh, clean towels throughout the day, which was a nice touch. The beach attendants were friendly, the hotel provides sand toys for kids, and we really enjoyed the live music in the evenings. The location is excellent and made it easy to enjoy the beach. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of our room upon arrival was disappointing. The toilet seat had what appeared to be blood or feces on it, there was urine around the base of the toilet, which made it seem like the bathroom floor hadn't even been mopped, and there were crumbs and bits of food, along with a few dead bugs, around the beds. Thankfully, I had hand sanitizer with me and cleaned the bathroom before my children used it. A few other things to note: the balcony door was difficult to open, there was no screen door, and the complimentary beach chairs are quite small and may not be comfortable for larger adults. The sheets also seemed too small for the mattresses and kept coming off the corners during the night, which made sleeping less comfortable, no mattress covers. The beach itself is beautiful but fairly small, so it becomes crowded quickly. One suggestion for future guests: please rinse the sand off before you are getting into the pool, I witnessed people rinsing off im the pool after beach then after 2-3 minutes they came out and went upstairs. The pool is not a shower and the sand on the bottom of the pool hurt. Also, once you're finished using the beach loungers, remove your towels instead of leaving them behind. It was difficult to tell which chairs were actually occupied and which were available because many loungers had towels left on them. Overall, this hotel has a fantastic location and several nice amenities, but better attention to room cleanliness and a few small improvements would make a big difference. * also bring water shoes, the rocks at the beach are very painful*

It's an all suites hotel so it served that need. The room itself on appearance was very nice, perhaps recently refurbished and felt clean and modern. We had a couple experiences which made it a little weird though. The rooms have motion detecting lights that you can only sort of control. The shower for example...the light turns off when you're in the shower as it doesn't sense your motion and there's no way (obvious to us) to force it to stay on. That was a bummer for the 2 of us who wanted to shower but had to do so in the dark unless we opened the shower door and waved our arm around to hopefully catch the attention of the sensor to give us another 30 seconds of light. This also happens if you're sitting on the toilet. The last thing I want to think about in that situation is having to provide additional motion so the light doesn't turn out. In the living space, a light also automatically turns on when it senses motion. Not great for having our son trying to sleep in that room and us having to move through it to leave the room or access the kitchen to have all the lights suddenly turn on around our sleeping boy. Also had a disappointing non-fitness room experience. The fitness room was no accessible because of renovations...okay bad luck in terms of timing...but they said I could go to the adjacent Hampton Inn and use their fitness room which was open 24 hours. So I did, but, unfortunately their fitness room actually isn't open 24 hours as I learned when I got there. So no fitness room and wasted time walking in the rain to the hotel next door based in the inaccurate info given by the staff. So overall disappointing and strange (especially the lights situation)...seems like they forget to dot a few Is when setting these rooms up.

Room itself looked clean and newer, and I like that the layout is bigger than a normal hotel room. Having the small kitchen with fridge, microwave, and sink makes it really convenient when traveling with kids. Bed was comfortable and the room felt modern overall. Breakfast is included which is nice, but the food itself was about a 1-2 out of 5. Selection looked okay -- eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles -- but quality wasn't great and the waffle area was messy when we went. Still free, so it helps for families. Honestly I booked this mostly for value. Legoland Hotel was around $600-$800 for the night, and this stay was $262 on a Saturday with AAA discount, so big price difference. For families this makes a lot more sense. If I put myself as a kid, this place would actually be pretty cool -- pool, free breakfast, big room, waffle maker, space to move around. That's why I was leaning 4 stars at first. But had to drop it to 3 out of 5 because the toilet in the room was leaking, which you don't expect at this price and at a newer hotel. Little things like that matter, especially with family staying in the room. Overall 3 out of 5. Good value, family friendly, but needs better maintenance. When I arrived around 1 PM, I was told the room wasn't actually ready yet but should only be "about an hour." Three hours and several bar tabs later, I finally got access around 4 PM. What made the wait especially frustrating was that I had already checked my luggage with the hotel. Had I known I would be waiting three hours, I could have gone into Carlsbad Village or explored the area. Instead, I felt tethered to the property because all of my belongings were being held by the hotel while I waited for a room that I had been told was already ready. Then came the mystery of the soaking wet carpet. Not a damp spot here or there--the carpet was wet enough that it immediately raised questions about what had happened in the room before I arrived. Given the three-hour delay, my imagination was left to fill in the blanks, and none of the possibilities were particularly comforting. I had also specifically booked an ocean-view room rather than a pool-view room. While the room technically had a view of the ocean somewhere beyond the pool area, it was directly above the pool during a reggae festival weekend. Instead of the peaceful ocean-view experience I expected, I got a soundtrack of reggae and a front-row view of the pool scene. The location is beautiful and the staff was pleasant, but between the inaccurate room-ready notification, the three-hour wait, the soaking wet carpet, and the questionable interpretation of "ocean view," the experience didn't live up to expectations. Look at the signage and the room are through the double door, on your left when you face the restaurant. It requires your keycard access to enter through the double door. The room is so relaxing, the vibe is comforting. It has complimentary coffee, nespresso tea and bottle water. You can ask for more water at concierge. Look at the real life I believe eucalyptus stem on top of the shower head, love it. There's also a gym and spa in 1st floor, also access to beach. We asked for recommended restaurant around the area, she gave a 4 pages list of restaurant and little shops 2nd floor - has venue area with spacious gathering area and balcony overlooking the beach. Evening: you can enjoy cocktails on VAGA restaurant overlooking the beach with outdoor fireplace and patio. Fyi: the room has thin walls. We can hear ppl talking, walking, running on hall way every moment. So on our final bill: They comp all our daily breakfast including tips and room service delivery. They automatically deduct $150 resort credit regardless you spend under. It will apply to any other fees. Like it because they don't Knicks pick every single expenses, that shows their reputation and their hotel guests matter over little charges. Overall, love this place. Will definitely come back. Highly recommended.
