After my father was assaulted by another resident, I asked for a call from the Executive Director (there have been 4 ED's in the past year) to talk about a plan for my fathers safety. No response. I have asked to talk with management at least 10 times and have never once got a call back. The Resident Assistants that work with the residents are amazing. I wish the management would take notice and try to be a tenth as amazing as the RA's. My next stop is filing a complaint with the State of Oregon and DHS. read more

There were 5 staff in the front hanging out together visiting amongst themselves not with the clients and in Back area they were 5 it looked like hanging out together visiting in the back table not with the clients either. When we came out from visiting friend they moved to the hallway to visit with one another still not visiting with the patients! Easy money! When I did that job if we took breaks we were to be in break room so people wouldn't see us not working. And we only were 2 at a time to break. And never to sit around amongst ourselves! Terrible service to patients! read more

I just removed our mother from Ocean Park Memory Care because of the poor care she received. We involved Senior Protective Services and Ombudsman's - Ombudsman's was at the facility at least 5 times but they did nothing! My mother fell several times and her bed was placed on the floor, she was left in her room with no mental or physical stimulation. My mother would tell me "the say pee your pants" when she asked to go to the bathroom. When you are dealing with someone who has dementia there is some margin of error in what is real and not real. There were times when she would be sitting at the table for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and there was no one to help her eat so her food would get cold. Our mother is hard of hearing and considered blind, she can see shadows but she cannot see to eat. Our mother went from walking with a walker and a one person transfer to not walking at all and became a two person transfer. She had chronic UTI's and when I removed her from the facility she had a bad rash on her body, the facility said nothing about the rash. I am taking her to a Dermatologist hoping to find out what caused the rash. My mother has never in her life had a rash - my mother knows she has a rash and told me it was because of a dirty bed. It appears as though the rash is scabies but a scraping will determine that. The facility looks good inside, they cleaned the place up but forgot about human compassion. Please if you are considering Ocean Park think twice, it may look good but it is not what it appears to be. The Administrator there needs to be fired and replaced with someone who understands dementia patients and how to communicate with them as well as the family. You don't leave them in a room all day. Please say no to Ocean Park for your loved ones - its not the place for them. I moved my mother to another facility in another state and after only 11 days she has shown an improvement. She has physical therapy, occupational therapy, lots of great care and attention. She has someone to help her eat and she has mental as well as physical stimulation. Even though she is incontinent she knows when she has to go to the bathroom and either I or the staff will take her to the bathroom. She has not fallen out of bed because her needs are met and they check on her all the time. I feel that she fell out of her bed at Ocean Park because she had to go to the bathroom and there wasn't anyone to help her, and that is pretty sad. My sister posted a review on FB with pictures and Ocean Park removed it - they said that they only want positive reviews. I am going to ever site possible to try and let people know that Ocean Park is not for your loved ones. Thank you for reading this. read more

I had my mother in this ocean park memory care and thought it was going to be ok and it is not what it seems.I have gone up their several times and found my mother not in great hands.We took her about a week ago and gave her a bath and found all kinds of rash on her back arms and stomach as well. We are taking her to a skin doctors tomorrow to see what this is. They never called any one of us to let us know what is going on. Also had to take her to a doctor about 3 months ago and could not find her shoes.They tool us they have shoppers their and had to put garbage bags on her feet to get her to doctors. I live 3 hours from her and go to see her every 10 days to 12 days.I find alot of things not right. One time i found her eating her lunch with gloves on also.She need some assistance when eating. One time my husband and a nurse friend went to get my mother so we could have her here for Thanksgiving and they did not give her all her medication she was to have.I called them and they said i can come and get it and i said no it is three hours from me and it was stormy also.So i had called her eye doctor and they called her prescription in for her on a friday.Sorry to have to say these thing but other things as well went on with my mother as well. I was taking her food in like fresh apples, strawberrys, melons, cracker as well and olives and cheese and they had a place to keep it for her than stoped me for doing that. Now if i wanted to buy a frig her i could but their is no room in her bedroom for that. Most of the time i took my mother out for lunch when i was their. Half her cloths were missing even with her name on them.Their is more to say but i not going to, all i say is if you are not their to check on them every few days you don't see things. We had a meeting with Georga who runs the place and thinking this is good but things just got worse.Ombudsman's were called in and last time spoke to her she said it is their word against mine. So nothing ever was done on their part I sent them pitchures of my mother to their cell phone who was Georga and med nurse and they were pissed that i called them.They wanted to know how i got their cell numbers did not tell them. Also their is workers in this ocean park and tole me they were under staff.So if you care about your love ones please check on them as often as you can. They sent my mother once to hospital in Crescent City and left her their . She can not see very well and is very hard of hearing on top of that. read more

My family visited often and observed that the residents were clean, fed well, and given many appropriate activities. We saw a very compassionate team of care givers. At the end of 2019, we moved my father from another assisted living facility to Seaview. He has a lovely studio in the assisted living area and has been very happy there. The food is really good, especially for an institutional environment. He is 98 1/2 and participates in some of the activities. With the COVID 19 pandemic, Seaview took all the precautions to keep their residents and workers safe. It has been extremely difficult for my Dad. He is a people person and doesn't handle isolation well, so at this moment he is very depressed. Even family members are not allowed to visit. They are not even allowed into the building. Residents must eat meals in their rooms. My Dad needs a hug. I want to thank and applaud Seaview for their tough stance in this pandemic. I am in Canada, and across this country, elderly care facilities are a disaster. Half of the deaths are in these facilities. Workers were not being careful, didn't practice distancing, often didn't have appropriate safety gear like masks, gloves, gowns. COVID 19 spread like wildfire. Some workers walked off the jobs leaving residents to die of lack of food, water, medicine, and any care. It is appalling, shameful, and a "moral failure". The government is begging skilled people to deploy to these facilities. It is heart breaking! I talk with my Dad every couple of days. He is extremely lonely and depressed, but I ask him to be thankful he is in a facility like Seaview that is doing everything possible to prevent any COVID 19 cases. The actions are difficult, but necessary. Please Seaview, maintain your vigilance.

There's no way my husband and I can provide the care and services my MIL requires. The staff is friendly and mostly accommodating. The food services have gotten better since my MIL has been there. She's actually putting on a little weight. A couple of things I wish they could change would be to lower the TV on the wall so my MIL can see it without hurting her neck and remove the sling for the Hoyer lift once she's in her wheelchair. She constantly complains about sitting on that sling all day long. I know that's probably not an easy thing to do as they have to lift her probably 6 times a day for a brief change.

I have seen three Urgent Care doctors this month for the same problem, only to be given a new RX and sent on my way quickly. Dr. Schwartz is not only intelligent, but wise as well- and that's what patients need- not just the obligatory twelve minutes and send you out the door. Today, I thought I was getting an invasive costly procedure, once again, Dr. said to my surprise, nope...no costly invasive procedure and a recommendation that I get something outside of his office, instead of profiting from me. I would recommend Dr. Goode for dental care in Brookings. He's a straight up, no nonsense, honest, quiet and polite kind of person.
