Hey there, it takes a lot for me to write a review. Although Dr. K was great. His staff, half of them were not. I ordered my contact lenses through them and they showed up the wrong prescription. I called. I emailed I called again. The girl shares they don't it your prescription so we just ordered the lesser. And I thought that's weird. I took the prescriptions contacts back to the office and asked for a different brand and return the contacts for a refund. And they refused and said only store credit. And I said let me get this straight. You order the wrong prescription you don't tell me it's a lesser prescription. I didn't open the boxes. You don't return my calls. I have to bring them in and then only store credit. I hope this doesn't happen to you. read more

Ocean Park Optometry has definitely earned five stars in my book. I had set up the appointment on their website and I received back a form to fill out. They are always there to ask questions before, during and after the appointment. The receptionist checked me in and shortly thereafter I was called in by one of the technicians. After the screening tests the optometrist Sarah Ito did a very thorough evaluation. She is easy to talk with - a really good communicator. Every staff person from the receptionist to the technician to the optician did a great job. I trust Dr. Ito due to her expertise and thorough ways. Also - the office environment is pleasant. I observed a most pleasant yet subtle aroma when I went up to the receptionist desk. Lots of windows, natural light and pretty wood floors. Also the location is in a sweet shopping district in Sunset Park, Santa Monica. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great optometrist. read more

While my experience with Dr. Ito was excellent, unfortunately, my experience with Deborah in sales was very disappointing. First, my glasses were significantly delayed. My eye exam was on April 5th, but I didn't receive my glasses until April 30th due to one of the lenses breaking before shipping --an understandable mishap. At no point was I contacted to inform me of the delay--I had to initiate every follow-up call myself. When I spoke with Deborah on Friday, April 25th, she assured me the glasses would be delivered by Monday, April 28th, even though the office is usually closed that day. She claimed they would be open and that she would notify me when the glasses arrived. That never happened. I texted her on Monday and only received a response on Tuesday, saying the glasses would be ready for pick-up on Wednesday. When I finally picked them up, I discovered the wrong lenses had been ordered--computer lenses instead of the everyday lenses I clearly requested. Both my husband and I specified that we would purchase computer glasses elsewhere. When I raised my concerns, Deborah was rude and dismissive. Rather than acknowledging the mistake, she insisted that "everyday glasses" could mean computer glasses as well, and claimed she was "thrown off guard" by my feedback. She never once apologized for the inconvenience or the confusion. This experience was frustrating and disappointing, especially after such a positive interaction with Dr. Ito. read more

The doctors are fine and Nicole realty helped to make me feel comfortable. But Dr. Ito, if you are reading this I would beg you to do something about aggressive upselling up front. I explained to the very rude "saleswoman" that I currently couldn't afford any extras due to current financial difficulties. I could only afford what my insurance allowed. Do you think that stopped her from continuing to try? Nope. When I declined she tried something else and when I said no thanks she grumbled and whined "why not???" I almost asked to be checked out by someone else. And by the way, when she realized that I wasn't going to be buying anything extra, she was short, gruff and very anxious to get me out of the office. Ive been a good patient at this business for many many years and I've always spoken highly of Dr. Ito (both of them) but as you can understand, a person doesn't want to have to explain why they can't spend a lot of money and they should not be badgered or made to feel less important as a patient. It's embarrassing enough as it is to be in bad shape money wise. Don't let your staff make that tougher. read more

I was recommended to this place by my optometric tech. He asked me what kind of glasses I like, and I told him I like frames that are different but not too different--and something that fits my style. He sent me to the right place! I love Prada because they fashionable and are very comfortable, but none of the current Prada frames were for me. I picked out several Salt frames and one Ray Ban, then asked to see an optician so she could help me pick out the best one for me. Michelle was amazing. She was super honest about what looked good and what didn't--which I appreciated immensely. As it turned out, she and I liked the same frame on me. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my insurance doesn't allow me a new frame until December. Michelle told me the frame would be in my file. Very cool. Everyone in the shop was super kind. Happy to have found this place and have already made my appointment for December. Def go there!! You will be happy you did! read more

I am very disappointed. I went for an annual exam and to get any changes to my contact lens prescription. I felt like I was constantly being upsold. I managed to get out of there with just what I needed. I picked up the lenses and didnt need to use them until I finished what I already had. When I put them in they were completely off. Drastically off. They refused to exchange them for another corrected prescription. I didnt ask for a refund but to correct the prescription and replace what I purchased. Obviously I wont be back. Covid protols were on point, plentiful of parking and you can test out your new glasses by the beach less then a few mins away down on venice For me i had a more specialized condition that needed to be explored which was binocular vision dysfunction (BVD) amongst other vestibular type issues. These guys are one of the very few that specialize with neurological/vestibular type vision issues with neurolens. If you feel dizzy, eye strain, dry eyes and other similar symptoms, it might be your eyes. I knew my eyes had to be checked based on my symptoms and the testing was non-invasive, very specific and lengthy (which is good). I picked the SALT glasses as they are handcrafted in japan albeit a bit pricey but worth it! They also addressed and reimbursed my charges from a service that I didnt end up using with no problem. This place is not good. They're an absolute ripoff, and not clear upfront about what they're charging you. I thought I went in for one kind of exam but by the time I was finished, the bill came out to be a LOT higher than I was told beforehand because they had run all these other "tests" which frankly only took like 10 seconds each with the press of a button but added hundreds to my bill. And they also screwed up my prescription by sending me the wrong one. Be warned! Stay away. read more

There is nothing in business worse than dishonesty and lack of professionalism. My wife brought my glasses in to have the broken nose bridge replaced with a new part and it came back scratched. Instead of taking responsibility for their poor workmanship they insisted we were responsible. What they didn't expect was that my wife took a picture of my glasses before dropping off. When they were shown the "before" and "after" comparison. They had nothing to offer but referred to the sign in their office that says they are not responsible for any damage while they adjust your frame. First of all, the damage was done during the replacement process with a new part purchased from them. Imaging you were trying to get a replacement wiper and the dealer mistreated your car and the windshield got damaged. Is it ok for them to tell you, tough luck! We are not responsible. Secondly, if they own up to their poor handiwork instead of trying to sweep it under the carpet hoping the customer won't notice the deep scratches right where they worked at, I won't be so keen on sharing this poor experience with this community. The Nikon high index lenses cost 5 times that of the Silhouette frame, and the nose bridge itself costs more than 100 bucks. The lenses were in pristine condition when they were dropped off and came back after an amateur tried to dig out the plastic anchor. And the new anchor on the contralateral side is also poorly placed. So before you entrust your glasses and eyes to this practice consider what if something went wrong and how they would respond. It's not the money, but the poor experience highlights this shoplack of integrity, honesty, and professionalism Update: Thank you for your response but I think your post missed the whole point. Let me point them out: The emphasis on how you went out of your way to get parts for my discontinued silhouette frame, which I didn't purchase from your shop, is irrelevant. I inquired about the parts, and you willingly took on the business. It wasn't charity. I appreciate the help but it does not imply an release for the shop from being responsible to damages done to other parts. When the temples were replaced initially and there was no damage and therefore no issue was raised. The fact that this was brought up for a totally unrelated issue when the nose bridge was replaced, in fact has been exactly what infuriated me to share my experience here, and again responding to you post. Also, in your response you are still inferring that the damage to the lens somehow was not a result of your workmanship despite the before after comparison, and happened exactly where your team worked at. Let the readers made that judgement and again it only demonstrates the lack of sincerity to take responsibilities for the poor work performed. Also, I did not have to do an eye exam, my prescription is up to date. I scheduled because somehow it was suggested that it would be "better" with my insurance covering the cost. And as a MD I can write the prescription myself, so no need to worry that I would make an appointment again. Thank you for offering me a discount to make another pair of lens of "higher" quality than Nikon. Essilor is no better. And given the experience and this ongoing denial, there is no reason to return. I gladly gave my business for 2 pairs of Lindberg and 2 pairs of Cartier to another business. If you understood the frustration from a customer's perspective when your shop manager tried to reason with the scratch is not in my line of sight and all, then maybe you would truly make the necessary change in your practice to care about your patrons. read more

So I like the doctors here, which makes my one star feel kind of harsh. However, my most recent visit makes me feel like I've been scammed out of money. They suggested neuro lenses to me - said it would be about 750 dollars for the exam and not covered by my insurance. (I learned later that my boss has a neuro lens exam somewhere else for 78 dollars.) What wasn't explained to me was that my lenses wouldn't be included/covered by insurance - that was another 800 dollars - and that I would need a follow up appointment that also wasn't included, which will be another 400 dollars. I'm an administrative assistant. I don't have that kind of money. 750 was expensive, but I thought - if they help, I'll try. I was not expecting 2000 dollars, which is basically what I will end up paying if I go back to get the follow up appointment. I just wish they had been actually upfront about what the charges were. It sucked to go through the whole appointment (the 750) and then be told that basically I was paying 750 for nothing if I didn't now spend an extra 800 bucks for the lenses. I left crying. When I googled neuro lenses and what they should cost, this price tag seems very, very excessive. I also saw that most doctors make 400-600 dollars per client with these, so that didn't make me feel any better. So basically - if you go here, mind your wallet. (Also, I tried to call them to talk to them about this before leaving a review, but it always goes to voicemail.) read more
