To make a long story short, Got an appointment for myself before my insurance expired 2/29/24, got my exam, ordered my new amazing uplevel glasses, doctor explained different alternative solutions to my eye concern/problem, the two ladies that helped me from choosing my glasses to checking me out and explaining in detail and visual outline of what to expect to pay with my insurance and without my insurance, I am a happy camper. I've been to different optometrists for over 30 years and Dr. Kimura and the team at I Sight are the best! We live in south OC and have no hesitations making this trip. Dr. Kimura is an extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and patient doctor. He clearly explains topics/procedures and patiently answers questions in a very calm manner without using jargon. He also employs the latest technologies and techniques to make each visit easy and quick but also very thorough. The office staff is very efficient and friendly - helping to deal with insurance and logistics with a smile. The office is very well laid out and clean - and they'll even put on a movie to keep my two kids occupied while my wife and I get examined. I first came to Dr. Kimura after a suite-mate recommended him to me with enthusiasm. That was about three years ago. I could not be more pleased. Dr. Kimura is the most thorough, precise optometrist I have ever been to. He asks a ton of questions. He is knowledgeable about diseases of the eye and potential problems that come with age. When I was very concerned that I'd damaged my retina two years ago, he gave me his home phone number and saw me on very short notice. Everything turned out to be okay, but Dr. Kimura was a tremendous source of calm. Today I had the opportunity of working with Evie for the first time, to pick out a new pair of glasses. What a nice lady. She picked out a wonderful pair of frames for me in my price range. She gave me excellent advice regarding what type of lenses I should choose and was able to succinctly explain all of my options. This is a wonderful place to get your eyes examined and also get a new pair of glasses, as their frame selection is plentiful and spans several price options. I love this place!! read more

I've gone here twice and my girlfriend has visited once as well. Dr. Kimura gives thorough exams and has a very professional, non-rushed manner about him. He is easy to talk to and is happy to answer as many questions as you can throw at him. The front staff is also helpful and pleasant to deal with when selecting frames and scheduling appointments. While the shop has a pretty good selection of frames, that may be their one weakness as a select few other shops may have more. But, they are happy to make special orders if needed. During my first visit, I made a stop to look into a special pair of prescription sport glasses with transition lenses for motorcycle riding. I was about to leave on a several month long trip and they were able to special order them for me before I left. I recently returned because during the trip the lenses managed to get a bit scratched up. Isight was able to help me by getting the lenses replaced. In West L.A. there are a couple of good optometric centers, but another thing I like about this place is that it doesn't have the pompous arrogant attitude and severely over priced products that a certain place I previously used in Brentwood is known for. I enjoyed my time with the Dr two years ago and didn't have an issue with them until I tried to reorder contacts through 1-800-contacts recently. I ordered my contacts through 1-800-contacts last year without an issue and then this year was told by this office that my prescription is 2 years old and they can't do it without me coming in. hmm okay well you did it last year? Their answer: The doctor would be liable if something happened to your vision. Okay, let me sign a waiver, my vision hasn't changed, I'm fine. Nope, no can do. hmmm okay... how much will this cost me? $140 for the exam and $95 for the contact fitting "due to your prescription". ummm what? You want $235 to tell me my eyesight is fine and so I can order the same contacts again? YUP! That's EXACTLY what they want. Moral of the story, they are unwilling to work with you, let you sign a waiver and "take matters into your own hands" because they would rather price gouge you and make you come in to pad their pockets. FANTASTIC. Nope, not going to happen. read more

I was impressed with the friendly, professional service that I received. The doctor administered a through examination of the strength and health of my eyes. Then he thoroughly explained his findings. I was a little nervous about making frame selection while my eyes were dilated so he waited until selection was made and then administered eye drops. I wasn't sure about what kind of frames I wanted to look at and the first woman to help me was patient and provided many frames for me to try ion. She ended up getting the other woman to assist me. I love Dr. Kimura on Wilshire! He's patient, explains everything and is really really really good at what he does! His office is on Wilshire near Barrington and they validate parking. I am confident that I'm receiving the best care I can get with Dr. Kimura. He's very thorough and explains each issue. Evie is so positive and with her expertise and insight, I know that I'm making the right choices with frames and lenses. Well, lets see....I went here because my dad referred me because my insurance for vision is accepted here. Also I work near the area. Yeah, DR. Kimura is very nice and the girls that helped me were very polite. This was my first time here so I spent a good hour (maybe longer) here doing all the tests for my vision/ filling out paperwork. After, all the paperwork was completed and vision tests were completed I couldn't help but feel like the people here kept trying to sell me more tests, or offer me really expensive glasses, or offer me a test that costs me more money, (more than what my insurance covers) etc. etc. I felt like I constantly had to ask if this was a charge? Is this mandatory? Is this covered in my plan? What does this test do? Can I reschedule this? Why do I need my eye dilated in a test? I'm not sure if Mr. Kimura really cares about my eyes or if he's just trying to get more money out of me? The economy is bad and I just need a reasonable priced pair of glasses. I felt a little rushed when picking out glasses from the lady helping me. They never asked what my budget was, but they did recommend the more expensive prescription lens for glasses because I play sports. You see my point? Don't get me wrong the service was okay, but I just felt like I kept being offered more stuff than necessary with no reasonable explanation. Wow, Dr. Kimura is wonderful...he doesn't treat his patients like sheep. I really appreciate his explaining what each eye test is and him keeping through records. I have had eye exams with various doctors and usually I'm in an out in a matter of minutes, but his exam was informative and explained to me reasons of why it's difficult for me to see out of one eye or how somethings appear to be greater on my eyes. I appreciate how he was professional and yet friendly. Also, another wonderful aspect was how friendly all the ladies that work in the office are. And I really appreciate their input on what they think looks best on me. Also, was helpful that I do commute from the valley, so them being accommodating on letting me select my eyeglasses a few minutes after their closing business hours, was wonderful. Another wonderful thing, is that they do validate for parking, a huge plus, as I mostly refuse to go places where parking is a bear or expensive. Kimura is a down to business type of doctor. Which I love but others might not. Let me explain. I don't need to chit chat with my doctor or anyone really. I just want to get whatever I'm supposed to get done DONE. Ill respond politely if someone is trying to make convo but typically won't initiate. That being said, I don't need for my doctor to get to know me (aside from things like my med history or recent medical occurrences) on a personal level like how things have been going in my life or what's new etc. So if you likr a doctor like that I would say Kimura isn't the type. He's a boom boom boom and you're done. Efficient. No lingering. I like it. He has his checklist of what he needs to ask and do and then you're outta there. Of course he will talk if you do ask about his life but he's a "let me do what I have to do without dilly dallying" type of guy. Perfect for me and my husband. And for me, aside from being knowledgeable and a trusting doctor, that is what I like. Straight to the point. read more

I've been here a handful of times, but each time they've taken absolutely wonderful care of us. My wife had a last minute issue where she had to get prescription sunglasses, and they worked like crazy to make sure she had them for our honeymoon. Again, more recently, I went in with a pair of glasses that had the misfortune of being stepped on and (from what I thought) destroyed. Both hinges were knocked off!
