I was told yes and it also says they take it on their website. This is not true, Sure they will take your Medicare and also make you pay 5 thousand dollars for the privilege. I never would have known this if not for YELP. I read reviews. After I made the appointment, I thought I better give Yelp a read. I was shocked to find out about this undisclosed charge. I would have wasted my time and God only knows when they would have told me to hand over 5K. I have cataracts so hard to read, close to impossible and I was very clear asking Medicare all in right--of course was the response. So, I called back and asked for billing. I told them I read they charge an additional 5 K on top of Medicare and your supplement. I was told they did. I told her I was not told that and it is no where on your website. Pregnant pause--sort of like what should I tell this woman. She then said that they use the best and latest equipment. I asked is that compared to old and outdated equipment. Another long pause. She said we have that charge. She never said she was sorry I was not told this. Now, I would have wasted a day and I am confident they would have made money off what I consider false advertising by billing Medicare to see me and may then tell me to hand over 5K. There is always a reason when you can get an appointment right away. Run from these people.

Severe Complications, Violation of Consent and Unacceptable Post-Op Negligence…read more I had bilateral upper eyelid ptosis repair performed by Dr. Adeleh Yarmohammadi at Assil Gaur Eye Institute. While the surgery itself was technically fine, the entire experience before and after was unacceptable Before procedure, it was difficult to get Dr. Yarmohammadi to sit down and thoroughly explain the process or set expectations. She gave me a release form full of irrelevant clauses, including consent for photography, which I specifically crossed out but she took photos anyway and ignoring my explicit refusal which is a clear violation of my patient rights and consent. When I pointed out what was on this form, she admitted she hadn't even read the form she gives to patients. Due to the grossly inadequate Post-Surgical Care, the real problems began after surgery. A loose suture knot on my right eye, slipped under my eyelid, causing extreme distress for many days. Despite my calls and texts, I received little to no concern or support from Dr. Yarmohammadi. At another appointment, an office assistant--not the surgeon--removed the knot from my eye and tried to treat the damage. At another appointment, Dr. Yarmohammadi abruptly ripped the sutures out of my eyelids, without warning, explanation, or any attempt to prepare me for the excruciating pain, causing me to yell out in pain from the physical trauma. She actually had the nerve to complain to me about my strong reaction. I had to explain to her that had she bothered to communicate to me with any preparation, what to expect, how was she going to do this procedure, etc. I might have physically responded differently At another appointment she discovered she had left a piece of suture in my lid, which she then removed but worsened inflammation and on going damage. She was unable or unwilling to arrange timely treatment, and I ultimately had to stop seeing her and seek care with my optometrist. It has been six weeks now since my surgery and I am still being treated for complications cause by her sloppy work and aftercare. I spoke with the office manager, Christianna Anderson, she listened to me but offered no answers to my questions regarding the negligence and she offered no accountability. In my experience, Dr, Yarmohammadi demonstrated poor communication skills, careless work, a lack of compassion and an arrogant attitude. Medical degrees do not come with crowns. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, care and compassion. Healthcare is about healing, not arrogance or careless mistakes. Also, I realized that this entire process was covered fully by my insurance (no out of pocket). Due to this, I felt she provided the bare minimum treatment causing complications and forcing me to return for multiple, unnecessary follow up appointments, instead of giving me the proper treatment from the start. I have reported all of this to my insurance company. I strongly advise anyone considering surgery or any treatment with Dr. Adeleh Yarmohammadi to look elsewhere as there are many surgeons in town who can perform this surgery.

Eye care by Dr Assil is excellent. A few inconvenient visits are required before you get a surgery…read moredate for your cataract surgery. Everyone is super helpful. Dr Assil is the best eye surgeon and very little pain. It takes less visits if you go to Beverly Hills. Surgery center is in Beverly Hills. One thing. Don't get facial care here unless you have minimal skin damage. Prices for resatylane and Botox are very high. They can't help if you need laser work or a facelift. The Resatylane and Botox were minimal, didn't work and cost me $3700!!

At the age of 46 years old, I unfortunately got hit with congenital cataracts in my left eye. I was suppose to go to Kaiser and just do it with my insurance. But just like most places there was no personal comfort and care like a place like the Vision Institute. After much research and second opinion after 3rd or more I made a visit to this place months ago. Right away I was seen, cared for like no other. The first lady I dealt with asked me so many valuable questions, and assured my presence there was important as it should be. I felt safe and comfortable right away. I met Dr. Hura for the first time that day and I was relieved to know he also was extremely helpful and amazing to answer my questions and share the right information to make me feel at home. The 2nd visit was to dilatate, do measurements, and get me ready for a possible surgery. That day was even better, being cared for and treated like a human being would want felt great. My worries of eye vision lost or any other things was going down. The Surgery Day at Specialty Surgical Center was even better, the Nurses, the Anesthesia specialist, the O.R. Nurse, Surgical tech, and the Recovery Nurse were all patient with me, and made me feel at home again. Made me feel safe and communicated with me always. Surgery was completed and I did not feel any pain or discomfort. Just a little anxiety on my end. Went home rested, for the first 2 days I stayed home and just relaxed and could tell my vision get better every day. Eye drops, and just rest made it hard to do as an active person I am. But day 3 I went back to work with ease and now after about a week and a half. My vision is on the last 3rd base with a homerun in the horizon! My vision is much more clearer then ever, day by day it's only gotten better! I am so extremely happy and after being overwhelmed with what could happen or what can I can't do. It's safe to say that I'm glad I made the right decision and even if I had to pay out of pocket. The price is worth it! You can't put a price on the Best Quality, and most importantly our own health! OUR EYES! I'm looking forward to the next 2 and half weeks and complete my 30 days after surgery to be ready to tackle life again. I surely will decide to do the right eye next in the coming months. SUPER THANK YOU TO DR. HURA! The Staff of the Vision Institute for always answering my calls with sincerity and care. Stop scrolling. Stop searching. This is your cataract surgeon…read more Cataract surgery and IOLs are a world of options and choices. Dr. Shamie was patient as I puzzled through the decision process (despite the fact that she's obviously been through it a thousand times). Not only was the experience flawless, but her office is perfection. So many times a medical adventure is compromised not by the doctor but the staff. Not so here--they were responsive, helpful, professional and kind. That's how I see it, and I see things very well these days.

Dr. Christian bought his ophthalmic practice from a much loved and ethical doctor. He then turned it into a cataract surgery mill. He tried to convince me YEARS before any symptoms occurred that I needed it because it was easier for him! What about the patient? He pushed this constantly!!! When I did schedule the surgery years later, I was informed that a) he did NOT accept Medicare payment and I would have to pay up front b) there was a sizable extra percentage for a credit card. Surgery was successful BUT when I reported a change in the shape of my eye and a lid droop, all I got was incomprehensible medical jargon and a denial of the cause! He is also holding my new glasses prescription hostage until I have the next surgery! His whole staff, as well is in on selling cataract surgeries rather forcefully. Totally an unethical practice and I shall NOT be going back!!!!!!

The receptionist, Veronica Chavez, was unnecessarily rude and antagonizing during check-in. I was asked for my insurance card, and I explained that it is the same insurance already on file since last year and that I have not yet received a new card. This is common in early January. Despite clearly stating that I did not have the card, the same question was repeated. At that point, the receptionist raised her voice and said, "I'm not questioning your insurance. I'm just asking if you have your insurance card," even though I had already answered that I did not. I again explained that it is early January and that many insurance companies have not yet issued new cards. Instead of clarifying what was needed, the receptionist continued to antagonize the situation and then told me that I "needed to be respectful," even though her own tone and behavior were rude and dismissive. The exchange became uncomfortable and occurred in front of other patients in the waiting area. This is not the first time I have had a negative experience at the front desk. It is disappointing because the quality of care from the physician is excellent, but repeated unprofessional interactions at check-in detract significantly from the overall experience. I hope this feedback is addressed so patients are treated with basic patience and courtesy.

Sometimes they are very busy and you have to wait more than normal but that is expected. Usually the wait time is minimal. My current doctor Juliet Chung is a great opthamologist and always kind and considerate as was my past doctor, who is no longer at this location, Dr. Nouri-Mahdavi.
