I took a leap of faith based on reviews - and wow. Still in shock what a disappointing experience. I was clear on the phone I needed in person (not telehealth) and I was not on any medication. I waited over a month to get in - which is expected, and filled out online forms that worked 50% of the time. Finally the day arrives and I was taken to an odd office where the woman was behind a desk/computer screen. As she confirmed who I was I realized something was off. She wanted to know what medicine I was on. She asked more than once. Come to find out she is not a therapist! She is a nurse for medicine management. She asked multiple times if I was interested or if I thought medicine would help me - I stated I should be diagnosed first? She stated she can not help me and I should see a therapist.....uhhhhh ok. So she informs me they only offer Zoom therapy! What alternate universe did I enter? She kindly offered to set-up an appointment/start the referral process and I said not to bother it is the opposite of what I arranged for my appointment. At the front desk they were discussing my situation in front of me (awkward) on the other side of the glass. As I was cut short with nurse - by having services misrepresented - I said I expect not to be charged for the time it took to not help me. They agreed and offered an apology. Extremely terrible experience with NP Curry. I was extremely polite when explaining my condition to her. This lady is extremely rude, incompetent, and basically will profile you on what meds you take. She also argued with me while trying to explain my condition, and hung up on my face! I will be transferring my care to another practice. I am disappointed because I once had a great experience and was a loyal patient. You can even see the 5-star review I left back in June of '24. I am leaving because I was charged twice in a 2-week period for "missing" my telehealth appointments. I have been having telehealth appointments at this practice for over a year, and have ALWAYS been CALLED directly right at the time of my appointment. I always thought this was the process. So imagine my surprise when I get no calls at the time of my appointment...then get BILLED $100 for not joining the telehealth call online? The reason this happened is because my original provider left Ocean to open her own practice, so they gave me someone new and never explained how the process would change for me - it even says in my patient notes to call patient directly at X phone number at the time of her appointments!!! I explained this all to the Billing department and they said hmm... it does say in your file you get called at this number for telehealth appointments... Then she said she would escalate this issue to the Operations Director to see if they could waive it. Ultimately my appeal to remove the "no-show" charges was denied. Feels very much like a money grab. The worst part is I've been off my meds for 1-2 months as I've been trying to appeal this. So I've settled my bill and I will be taking my business to my original providers new practice. read more

Lacking professionalism. Lacking compassion. SO Slow to respond. I canceled my appointments within the time frame - I have an email and screenshot confirming this... and was billed a "no-show" fee. The therapist was quite awful, she didn't speak much nor ask questions. She lacked knowledge and I did not feel comfortable with her. I would never recommend anyone to come here for so-called care... good luck canceling, too. They ignore repeated emails but continue sending bills. I have been getting billed for a no show appointment I cancelled like I was supposed to from this place they're all about money even if not justifiably owed use caution if you go to this place I do not recommend just spoke to rude front desk asked why I'm getting a no show bill a year or more after I actually cancelled appointment because they're office is too far from me and alll she could tell me is they must of just noticed and did I have the date of appointment??? Ocean Psychiatry is a 10 out of 10. They also have a program called IOP. That consist of April, Brittany, and John. I would highly recommend Ocean Psychiatry to anybody who is seeking help to get better. The therapist April, Brittany, and John are so awesome. So initially they were great, everything was going smoothly but then came to find out by phone call that they didn't take my insurance after all, even when they checked my insurance which took 10 days and I told them it was medi-cal. I chose ALLISON GENTZ and what a great choice. She is super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She also makes observations during our sessions about things that I never thought about, which is helpful. She gives great advice and authentically wants to help. I was referred to this clinic via the employee assistance program through my work. I reached out to the office to set up an appointment. The person on the phone was very helpful and took down all my info. I waited 2 weeks, and they never got back to me. So I called again and left them a message asking them to return my call. They called and emailed me 2 days later. They said that my insurance did not have a record of sending me there. I replied to their email again clarifying that this was not supposed to be through my insurance, but through the assistance program. That was 4 days ago, and they never replied to my email. I am now seeking a new therapist. Just be advised that if you are in need of therapy in a timely manner, this may not be the clinic for you. read more

I had an appt which was cancelled by the practice and did not receive a follow up call to reschedule. I have since been out of my medication and was told by front desk Hannah and Assistant Manager Ashley that there was nothing they could do. Ashley was very passive aggressive. I do believe to be in this field in this specialty there should be a sense of compassion, which there is none. The provider I was seeing was great, however the front desk is a horrible representation for the practice. Do not go here if you expect professionalism. read more

My family member received subpar care from the providers at Ocean Psychiatry. It is really shocking considering she was an at risk patient. They allowed her to fall through the cracks with no follow up and no help. Serious harm could have come to her and the only reason it didn't is because she has a strong family to keep advocating on her behalf. It shouldn't have to be this way. Why are we paying you for your non existent services? I would not recommend these providers and I would personally not recommend Dr. Ghani. In the case of my family member, Dr. Ghani's care was grossly negligent. Further, the therapist my family member had been seeing left the practice one day without any further communication so that all the therapy and time spent up until that point literally vanished. No one called to let us know what happened. This is extremely unprofessional and very detrimental to the patient. Choose another facility if you are looking for expert, compassionate help. Not a good experience at all. My daughter was referred to them by her primary care but told to ONLY use one doctor, that the others are basically terrible. And, she was right! That doctor however is booked for like 6 months. I'm not sure how they are still in business. They only contact you when they want money, they consistently forget to call in prescriptions for anxiety in a 16 year old. Doctors go missing for months and don't show up to appointments but then don't refill prescriptions they originally prescribed for minors. Very very unprofessional and just downright rude. Do not use them. Also I just read the review about them calling the cops on a client. Avoid these people. Eeek, scary stuff! read more

What distinguishes her work is that she not only has a remarkable ability to pinpoint exactly where the problem lies, but also sets a very firm precedent in holding me accountable to make the changes I profess to want. I won't speak to any individual therapist at Ocean because I never met with one. Their clinical director called me to ask why I was seeking therapy, and when I was unable to chat at the moment, she scheduled me in later in the week. Their office sent me six follow-up texts, emails, and calls about this five minute call, which they proceeded to bill me for. Very unprofessional. For almost a year, each month I received bills after my checks were cashed. I would have to provide check numbers and cashed dates each month to clear my account balance. There seems to be a big disconnect in their office procedures. I finally fired them after I was cancelled on by my counselor for the third time followed by her no call/no show a fourth appt. After a rude email by the "billing dept." or manager as I came to find out, informed me I was being charged a $100 fee for the cancelled appt. I once again had to email proof the counselor cancelled on me. The manager kindly told me they would let this fee go, this time. There was a time where I felt I was being taken care of by Ocean Psychiatry.. It obviously wasn't perfect but the old staff was always supportive of me and genuine. I can't say the same about the new staff. They are terrible. I'm unhappy with the way things are being run. IF Its even being run or managed by anyone. The front desk doesn't seem to understand mental health or how to talk to people. Neither do they managers. I loved my therapist but having to deal with the staff is a total headache. I've jumped from Dr. Ghani to Janice but left unhappy and ignored by both of them. You would expect a lot from this place, but all you get is disappointment. Do yourself a service to your mental health and go elsewhere. You can get better care from Betterhelp or reddit. read more

DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS. I've been at ocean psychiatry since January 2021. I've put up with a whole lot of unprofessionalism since I started here, but I wasn't able to leave because it's where my kaiser insurance referred me. I've been seeing the same psychiatrist for the entire time I've been at ocean and each time we meet it's like he's meeting me for the first time all over again. Dr. Ghani barely remembers my name and never remembers what medications he's prescribed to me. I could never get an accurate diagnosis because he's never taken the time to talk to me or even try to get to know me or my symptoms. He asks a maximum of two shallow questions and then it's all assumptions and talking over me after that. I know the difference between a therapist and a psychiatrist. I'm not expecting therapy. Just basic respect and care. Currently, I have to go cold turkey off my meds as I try to find a new psychiatrist b/c they've been unresponsive (despite assuring me that they would continue managing my meds while I transition elsewhere) ever since I wrote my google review. Please believe me when I say that I'm writing this review in hopes that it will prevent someone else from going through what I have for the last 16months. read more

Four stars for now, but I'm sure that it'll be five stars in no time! I heard about this place from Fremont Hospital and was super excited to try it out. It was a little difficult to find, but once you know where it is, you won't have trouble again. The receptionist was super kind and helpful, as was the therapist that was currently there (whose name I unfortunately didn't catch). The therapist also has a therapy dog with him, but told me whoever is uncomfortable with the dog can have it not be present for the appointment. Overall a very kind and professional man. The receptionist helped me set up my account online, where all the paperwork is done digitally (hooray for saving trees!). I'm super excited to start my therapy sessions here! read more

I called and they scheduled a follow-up. Same thing after second appointment. No follow-up after 3+ weeks. My first appointment with Allison Gentz was like meeting up with a good friend after a long absence. Tiana is the first person you'll deal with when calling and she will make you comfortable and relaxed about the process and how/what to do. It's never easy when you have to deal with mental issues but Tiana makes it easy and relaxed. Dr. El Sokkary is great,he pays close attention to the conversation,laughs at the jokes and is sorrowful during the painful times. He teaches you tools for dealing with painful past experiences and shows you how to move on with healing, he makes you comfortable to talk about anything that you have to say. read more
