So I show the coupon and in the small print it is for pick-up or delivery only. I said great, here I am ready to pick it up. No she says it must be done in advance from your phone. Ok I said (since I am standing there with the ap open) "if you prefer, I'll order the pick up and you can walk me to the car with it". No she says, "It is too late today to place the order." My response, "isn't that time restriction based on the need for Acme employees to have the time and availability to A) read the request, B) select the item, C) bring the item to the front, D) bring the item to the car? I've literally bipased all of those issues for you, and saved me a trip back tomorow, a disappointed kid at dinner tonight, the three dollars your app promised me, and a bunch of work tomorrow for an ACME employee. Nope. So I have her void the item. Here I am driving home with the one item I came in for (the only not brown ground beef I saw), and a bunch of fruit; all the while wondering, "how is it there is such an incredible difference between the ACME in Mahopac and the one in Yorktown Heights in the Triangle Center?

Like most Goodwills, they do have a sale every day where certain color tags are half off and on Sundays, that color is only one dollar! I can't even tell you the phenomenal deals that I have gotten on Sundays, including designer namebrand shoes. However, whoever is pricing the pocketbooks and wallets is delusional. I say this after years of experience. There is no way that a wallet with huge tears in it is worth $10, the same price that a nice leather handbag costs. They also price name brands like LeSportSac, Jessica Simpson and Vera Bradley under $5, yet ripped bags or bags with random hotel names on them for $10. A positive was that their bags never cost more than $10. All of the other Goodwills I've gone to have their bag prices go up to $25. However, upon my last trip, I did see some bags that were priced $15 and $25. Again, these were no name bags that were not in great condition. I really think they need somebody else to be pricing these specific items. Their clothes are extremely well priced and their shoes again only go up to $10 at the most. They have brands like Michael Kors and DKNY in great shape for $10 or under which is incredible! They have beautiful jackets and they are all under $20. The housewares and the trinkets are also usually priced well, but again, you will find a random chintzy item costing six dollars when it should only be $.99. For the most part, the prices are good, but whoever is doing the pricing just doesn't seem to be consistent and understand what they're doing.

Unfortunately for me, the new place is 25 miles further north at the Jefferson Valley Mall. This is as far as you can go in Westchester county because Putnam county is just across the street. Like most malls across the country, JVM is not doing great, with not a lot of tenants or customers and it just seems to be barely hanging on. At least their anchor store, Macy's hasn't bailed yet. I'm hardly ever up this way, but when I am, I'll stop in at WTH to see any new stuff (and to see the old stuff). The new store has almost as big a footprint as the Galleria store, but way bigger than the previous White Plains mall one, which got the wrecking ball also (I'm not sure if that's a good omen). Everything was moved here, every plane, train & automobile (literally) and even Barbie (but no Oppenheimer). John told me he has big plans for the new store and to check back for new inventory soon. Each aisle has a hobby specialty. The biggest proportion is in the back where all the model trains reside. Glass cabinets are filled with vintage Lionel trains and other well known brands. The Hot Wheels collection made it over, as well as the Barbie and Hess truck collections. But my main hobby focus are model airplanes and ships and their collection of old kits is pretty impressive. They get new old kits all the time by buying up old collections and reselling. This trip, I got (3) 70's-80's nostalgic plastic airplane kits that I've had or wanted since I was a kid. Always was more expensive but never gave it a second thought. UNTIL NOW! First is the awful customer service from the cashiers. Their behavior is nothing short of rude, disrespectful and rude. How dare they behave the way they do?!?! Then the deli counter ignores you and barely speaks English!!! Now the food, as I mentioned, they are more expensive; but now the bread is always stale, ice cream previously melted, soda is flat, etc, etc. I have been a loyal patron for over two decades but if the these owners dont get their act together I will shop elsewhere.
