Finding the right fit for a woman is difficult, so I will not buy things that I cannot try on when they also can't be returned, unless it's something you can try on (shoes/slippers/coats) or like a pajama top (which doesn't have to be perfect) that I did buy and actually loved so much I went back until they had another one available. Value for most things, 5 stars. The food and clothing start at the highest price on Saturday and go down every day until Friday when there's not much left. So some things are not a great deal on Saturday but if you're willing to risk it and go back in two or three days, then the price is cheaper and it's a great value, although some things are still a great value even on Saturday (think protein chips/drinks/bars and coffee)!!!! The line at 10am on a Saturday will let you know how serious some of the regulars are about getting the best quality stuff right after a shipment comes in! Ohh wait, there's more! Enter your phone # at checkout and after you spend so much (maybe $150 but that's a guesstimate) you get $10 off a purchase!!! It can't get any better!

This was our first visit to Newington's Ollie's, and we scored a fantastic deal. I am the Committee Chair for a convention next month, and one of the participation activities for the conventioneers will be assembling kits to donate to a Boston charity for children in need. We are set on the school supply side, but we are still a little short on the socks and underwear side for 50 boys and girls. So, when I saw a "15% off" email from Ollie's, it seemed like a divine sign to make a pilgrimage to the new Ollie's in Newington. And guess what we found? How about 5-packs of boy's underwear marked down to $2.99? BEFORE our 15% discount. Thank you, Lord Ollie. Ollie's was stocked to the gills and very neatly shelved. We bought this eclectic mix of goods: a big bag of Dot's pretzels, five boxes of K Cup coffees, a bottle of shampoo, a jar of pickled zucchini, a jar of salsa, and 20 of the aforementioned underwear 5-packs for just a shocking $88. Ollie's is a fun store to browse around in, and today we made out like bandits.

We even have a $40 gift card we received from one of those "Crazy Deals" promotions (basically you buy a certain item, in our case, a log splitter and they give you cash back in the form of a gift card) and ever since we have not been able to find anything we want to spend it on. Maybe we stop in because it is right next to the Shoprite that we frequent or maybe it's the circulars that keep us coming back hopeful, but other than that, not really sure why we keep coming here. Maybe that will change once the Big Lots in East Haven (near Home Depot and Boston Market) opens.

The customer service is amazing and the girls that work here are just awesome. They always have a bright smiling personality and are always so kind and helpful. The products are the best, nothing beats their prices. Beware: it's a warehouse not a department store so expect to dig around for the good treasures. They're also on Facebook marketplace where they'll post many of the stuff they have available. Again, pics don't do justice you just have to come here and find all sorts of goods.

I recently brought a few items from here that I was disappointed with. there was a salon chair…read moremissing screws to the foot part(didn't make a big deal about), a rolling stool that had rust on the metal part but the seat covered it so I didn't make a big deal, However I recently called ahead of time to make sure an advertised facial steamer was working because it was titled gently used. The worker stated it was plugged in and had heated up quick. This turned out to be far from the truth. the parts were rusted and dirty and while the item turns on it doesn't heat up or work. The manager did refund my money however I spent a total of three hours traveling there and back. I can say be careful before going here as you may not get exactly what you pay for.

Black Friday of Amazon Returns…read more Have you ever wondered what you would get if you bought one of those Amazon return shipping crates you see on Facebook from time to time? Well, here you get to get a second pick of those pallets. The inside is very much a hodgepodge of broken boxes and random items. To entice others, they leave a few items of reasonable cost stuck in the detritus of shelves, they also hide a premium table in the middle of the store where you get to fight a mob of fellow shoppers for some of the picks of the litter. It's entertaining in a thrift store with fomo mentality. Some items are worth the splurge, but most are very random specialty parts of questionable quality or weird and funky items you never really knew existed. Give it a try if you're brave, but temper expectations. It can be a random waste of a couple hours, but sometimes you find the diamond in the rough, and getting the bargain can be a win as well
