Ocean State Job Lot in Orange, Connecticut carries literally everything from A to Z. As you can see from the photos, the quality, variety and price points are unbelievably impressive. The store was very clean, the staff was helpful, and overall there was phenomenal organization and merchandising in every department. Due to the misfortune of other small businesses, I believe Ocean State has benefited from getting a spectacular selection of higher quality merchandise than they ever had carried before the recession. read more

It's a great fun store to shop at, with interesting saving concepts like crazy deals. It is not actually free, but you are buying it at a deep discount, which seems to be free.  I want to let people know that Dawn is at the front register as very helpful and quick at calculations. read more

You can find anything you may need, from garden supplies to dog and cat food and supplies. You are able to save money because their prices are low. You can get household items, such as cleaning products, seeds for gardening, paper products, such as foil and parchment paper. Sometimes you may have to wait in line longer than you intended, but I like going in there. read more

This store recently moved to this bigger location. I've been here many times, one of my favorite places to go bargain hunting. They have lots of things here for pretty good values usually. Lots of sales as well. Most products are of good quality and some are very unique or unusual. Most of the staff are at least pleasant, some very nice. Lots of parking. Fun place to check out. The products they have available remain consistent easily 75% of the time. They do have items that are there today and can be gone tomorrow. Most of what they sell is less expensive than at other places. Some is essentially the same cost as at other stores, but I have never found an item priced higher than you can find elsewhere. Some of their food and other edible products have 'best by' dates that may be within the next twelve months or less, so I purchase things that I intend to consume in the not too distant future. Of course those dates do not represent a point after which the item can be dangerous to one's health. The 'best by', 'sell by' and similar statements are guidelines not deadlines, and each such designation has a meaning different from the others. The staff are very friendly and helpful. read more

I visited the Meriden store for some summer items and could not find garden gloves. The store manager happened to come by and saw my frustration and quickly helped me find what I needed and showed me all of the spaces where we might be interested in checking out. She was amazing and went over the top to make us happy! She's a keeper! read more

Best store ever and the workers are all so nice. A younger Man that works there in the East Haven Foxson Connecticut store, his name is Chris not sure what his last name is but let me tell you so polite, so respectful and so helpful anytime my mother who is 68 goes in there or myself. He is always there to give us a hand Offers to help us bring stuff to the car. He is just the sweetest person ever. I have never run into any of the cashiers or staff ever being rude, they are the ones who need more respect wearing face masks all day. In my 66 years get a grip folks, the covid is just a bad cold. We have been handling food and money and touching things for years. It's all ridiculou. People should start living normal. Fauci was a scientist monster! And everyone fell for all the lies! Hello id like to file a complaint about your unprofessional employees in Orange, CT Branch. I got in line for the cashier with my wife to cash out i noticed the cashier did not have on any gloves and the others did so i asked her nicely if she can put on some gloves before touching any of my food products at 1st she ignored me and then i had to repeat myself and she finally says oh i dont have gloves and i used hand sanitizer and there is my hands are to small there are no gloves that can fit me. Then i ask the other cashiers if they have extra gloves to give her and 2 rows over there was a heavy set spanish cashier that started raising her tone at me telling me its not required for her to wear. At this point i was upset the way she was talking to me like that, also telling me well where are your gloves and i raised my tone back and replied i dont need to wear gloves your handling my food products and if i ask you nicely to put on gloves you should do so. Then she replied to her manager that came over, -older white female- that she is sick and tired of these people coming in here acting ridiculous over this stuff. So i just walked away and let my wife cash out with the woman who had severe irritated red hands from i am assuming using tons and tons of hand sanitizer but she was nice and calm. Then over heard the spanish woman and i am assuming her manger -older white woman- say id like to punch him in his mouth now i do not know which one said it it sounded like the older white female/manager mumbling it under her mask but i heard it and thats all that matters. I kept my mouth shut and left with my wife and said i will file a complaint and so i am. I have 3 members in my house including my 12 year old son who is a high chance of covid-19 and i had every right to ask politely if the cashier can put on some gloves since she handles alot of money and products that other people touch. I will be posting this on Facebook and Yelp and you have lost me as a customer i spent over $100.00 today and its people like me that help contribute to these peoples paychecks and this is how i am treated with a rude rude unprofessional crew. And the manager had her back not even addressing it or apologizing to me wow. Customer service sucks but when you threaten that you like to punch me in my mouth well that drew the line.. read more

I have been shopping here for years and have finally decided that I will no longer waste my money on a company that doesn't care for its employees. I know half of them by name and one by one all of the sweet caring workers have been quitting and said their new manager has made them hate their jobs. I personally asked the manager a question regarding a product and was astonished by how rude she was to me. Apparently they have a new rewards card program and don't ask if you want to sign up. They just ask you your personal information and scan you a card even if you told them 3 times that you are not interested. Employee said their manager is forcing them to sign people up if not she's not giving them hours. I feel so bad for them and their complaints are being ignored by the company. Don't shop here. Maybe the drop in income will make their voices heard. read more

I really like ocean job lot. It has organic foods, cheap , cheap clothes, military boots, camping gear, cook ware. A great variety of items for cheap. My favorite is getting chocolates that in other stores would cost like $4 and at ocean job lot I purchased them for $1.50. Best deal! :) read more

I really love this store but during my visit today I encountered the most rude customer service person I have ever met. She was rude, making faces and sending someone else to do her job. We asked about a price on an damaged item with no ticket and it was the last one. obviously we were bothering her. Oh wait isn't this your job Michelle. When she finally got the information needed for pricing she said nothing to us only the cashier. Maybe customer service is not the kind of job suited for you. read more
