Awesome trail with amazing view. This trail is one of my current most favorite in the area or Long Beach. The view is of the open ocean and the Catalina island hills in the back is worth the drive through the port bridges. The trail has indicator post to tell you the level of trail. Once reaching the beach side of the hike, it feels rewarding while enjoying the view and sound of ocean waves. The view of the golf park side in February is already colorful. We enjoyed the view of the yellow California Coast Sun Flowers in the sides of the trail. There are cactus, palm trees, flowers and other vegetation that slows us down to 'Smell The Roses". You can appreciate some wild life if lucky, you get to see some rabbits, birds, and other wild friends. There are restrooms in both ends of the trails. So it's very convenient and challenging to change out the difficulty of the trials. Definetely, worth many repeated visits. Check it Out ! read more

Too many pictures to post! Have been here multiple times! Beautiful scenery from the ocean, vegetation, wild critters and the peace and quiet! I spent hours at the bottom of the cliffs! Just hopping from rock to rock, Not a lot of people. It took me a good minute to find information on this trail. The trailheads are in residential areas. You can also go from the main entrance from the golf course. Most of the trails are marked "moderate". The "challenging" trails are literally breath taking, but do-able! Wear some nice treaded shoes! This last time I parked in the lot at the end of La Rotundra (sp). BEWARE if you park in this lot! My car windshield got hit by a stray golf ball. I contacted the golf course, they did send a manager out, but said they are ultimately not responsible for their members. SMH. read more

What can I say? Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Lovely trails and the scenery is breathtaking. Perfect area for peace, solitude and just inhaling the fresh ocean breeze and cool air. Lots of greenery and flowering patches .. little birds fluttering above. Just love this area. read more

We came here for a new years hike and a lot of other people had the same idea! There is free parking and clean restrooms. The trail was nice, we can stay by the dirt path or walk down to the beach and watch the ocean waves up close. Very nice walk and plenty of photo opportunities. read more

came on a tuesday afternoon and had such a peaceful walk on the trails here. it's a moderate walking path with super scenic views. at the beach down below there's some decent tide pooling spots where you can see crabs anemones and fish and other sea life. it's easy enough of a trail where most everyone can do it, but difficult enough where it feels like pretty good exercise. loved that we didn't see too many people walking when we came, it made it much easier to enjoy the quiet while being in nature read more

The good: This is an AMAZING and unique trail with breathtaking ocean views and a PAVED trail walkway. The first part of the trail coincides with pathways for different holes in the Trump golf course but it does eventually stray away from the golf course. There was plenty of free parking. There are trash cans along the trail and a bathroom at the parking area. The beach area has lots of great round and smooth rocks. The path is serene and tranquil. The ocean waves make a great splashing crash sound with all of the rocks. I'll definitely be coming back. We came during sunset and the soft hazy glow from the sun on this warm June day was really visually like a movie. It's places like these that remind me why I stay in California. The bad: Dogs (animals in general the sign said) aren't allowed on the beach area. It's pretty rocky. I still saw a dog there though. The interesting: It has many flat areas where the paved parts are but there are trail deviations on the dirt paths that lead downward the beaches. We've been to this hiking spot a few years ago. It was an easy hike and the view was nice. Some sections have been closed such as the lighthouse area. The lighthouse looks old and outdated though. It had a lot of marine layers on that day; otherwise, we could enjoy a beautiful panoramic ocean view with nice weather. It would be great to go there close to sunset. Parking is free but limited. It's not a spectacular or incredible coastal view but it's alright. read more

I've been here twice and it's a nice hike or variety of hikes with easy access. I've parked at the Trump golf course or on the street leading up to the golf course and walk through it to get to the trails. There are picnic tables tucked away amongst the bushes with a great view of the ocean so definitely great for a picnic with friends. The good thing about these trails is the view is always there so it's rewarding if you do an easy trail or a hard trail. I'd say it's not as crowded as other trails in L.A. and it offers great views and seems a lot less stressful to access versus many trail in L.A. county. read more

I love this hiking spot. The views are gorgeous, the hikes are easy, you can scale down to the ocean and visit the tide pools and sit on the giant, black rock slabs that face the ocean. It's not an easy beach access, you will definitely have to walk down the side of the cliff trail. But once you are there... it's beautiful. It's really not a beach you would swim due to the rocks, but a great place to walk, have a picnic and enjoy a beautiful sunset or sunrise. Even the drive to this place is lovely. Just a two-way highway and beautiful sights. Parking is limited, but people are always coming and going, so you'll find a parking spot soon enough. There is no shade, so be prepared to have direct sunlight on you as you are walking. read more

The main trail is about a mile long and runs parallel to the shore. Part of the path is paved and the rest is hard-packed earth and stones. As you're walking (or running) some of the main path is level but for the most part, you'll be in either a slight incline or decline attitude. Down and back will treat you to some beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. To add to your journey, you can choose to branch off at specific points and add to your mileage and/or degree of difficulty. There are zig-zag paths down to the rocky coast below. You'll spot them as you walk along by the signs and openings in the fencelines. Some of these will give you more of a workout when you make your way back to the top. Watch your step because some of the areas are loose underfoot. At the far end of the trail, you can also follow the paths that lead away from the ocean for a loop through brush and some extra distance. There are a few ways to access the trail. One is along the golf course entrance road with a small parking lot set aside for hikers. Another is by taking the road a little further east of the golf course entrance (I think it's called La Rotonda Dr), following it to the end and there will be a parking lot on the right. We hike here quite frequently especially when the weather warms up and the ocean breeze makes it more bearable. It is never really too crowded and parking is easy. There are multiple paths you can take and can add distance depending on how long you want the hike to be. For mileage and easy street parking, we usually start on the San Pedro side (2399 Warmouth Street, San Pedro) and hike towards the golf course. There isn't any signage at this trail head - it is at the end of the road. It seems like an open alleyway (no gate) next to a community garden and then you see the ocean. Trail is mostly flat with some incline but nothing too bad if you take your time. There's no shade so bring plenty of water and sun protection. If you want, you can hike down to the beach also (but remember that you have to hike back up). But the detour led us to find the clean public bathrooms and another smaller parking lot you can park at towards the middle of trails. This trail is one of my favorite easy trails with an oceanside view in the San Pedro/Palos Verdes area. I've been coming here for a long time, so I always enter through the cut from Stargazer Lane. Unfortunately, there has been a section that's been closed for quite some time now so the trail is even smaller. 7-26-20: After seeing how ridiculously hot and busy Griffith Park Trails were, I decided to explore these trails over here. Whats not to like? Free parking...beautiful coastal views...and nice breezy weather. It was a bit tough hiking over the rocky coastline down by the water but so worth it. Just be prepared that if you go all thecway down the cliffs, at some point, your ass has to hike and climb A L L T H E W A Y B A C K UP! ...that must be why I feel sore today. Easy trail that my two chihuahuas could do, minimal inclines. We parked at the golf course, nice that they have bathrooms there and along the trail. Couple points we were not sure which way the trail was, when it intersected with the golf course, so signage could be better. No shade, but thankfully it was overcast when we went. Couple points where you could walk down to the beach, but multiple signs that the dogs are not allowed. Nice coastline views and lots of flowers in bloom. We saw lots of birds and several rabbits. read more

Nice way to spend a winter day. Parking was free and easy- we went around noon. It's a little awkward because it's so close to the golf course but the signs make it easy. Fairly crowded but not terrible there's A lot of space. You can also find a place on the lawn to just bring a chair or a blanket and do a picnic. It's a schlep for us from the valley but was well Worth it and will go back. Dogs are welcome! Rocks are only at bottom if you choose to go down path toward ocean. The hiking is easy and lots of families so my guess is the parking lot has a quick turnaround. We spent about 90 minutes read more

Relatively flat walking path alongside the Trump National Golf Course. Go past the main entrance to the golf course and turn right onto La Rotunda Drive and go all the way down to hit the parking lot at the right. There are two dirt paths that go down to the water, or you can stay on top and walk to the golf club building. There is a multitude of trails that traverse the hillside from Abalone Cove up to Terranea. I think the description of Ocean Trails is a bit ambiguous. My review is for the trails that start on the public land where the Trump Golf Course is. Sorry folks, but no dogs down on the beach! A few bad apples ruined this for dog lovers. Finding this can be tricky, it is located in Palos Verdes at the Trump Golf Course. There is a parking lot specifically for those who are hiking or going to the park/beach, it's just before you get to the Trump restaurant (on the left). It is usually empty during the week but can get full on weekends, but there is also plenty of street parking. My family and I like to walk the loop down to the beach, and then back up, it's about 1.5 miles round trip. Remember, it's always easier getting down than coming back up. It can be steep at times, so elderly or young kids might slip. There is a small park with picnic tables overlooking the ocean, we will frequently bring a soccer ball, and a kite. This is a great place to bring a lunch. There are a few different trails you can take that lead down the beach from this area. The actual beach is similar to European beaches, which is to say it's a bit rocky. For the record, I have never seen any rattlesnakes, only rabbits and lizards. I suggest you bring a bottle of water, and remember to ALWAYS pack out what you bring in... no littering! You are in for a treat, enjoy. read more

This trail is beyond beautiful what else needs to be said? I went on a cooler, summer day and everything was just picture perfect. The trail allows dogs to a certain extent ( you'll have to check the signs for warnings). Parking was easily accessible; there's a little parking lot for visitors just next to the golf course. However, the spaces quickly fill up. Don't worry though, there's PLENTY of parking on the street which is directly next the course/ surrounding it and the ocean. You most likely won't have trouble finding a space. You cross 2 bridges, with the second bridge hanging overhead a steep little valley/crack. It's directly facing the ocean so you'll definitely feel a cool, AC-like breeze blowing from the ocean in. If you decide to head directly down to the sea, just be extra careful of the steep, narrow road down. And bring bug spray I cannot stress that enough ! It's better to go when the winds are blowing a little harder than they normally do so that it blows the wasps/bugs away. You're definitely going to get some giant beetles flying around so a big heads up on that. This is by no means a wear-shorts kinda hike; I'd advise everyone to wear leggings and probably appropriate hiking boots or a high top sneaker. When you do get to go down to the sea, there's nothing but seaweed, rocks, flies, the sea - essentially, it's beautiful. There's a "little mermaid" type of backdrop you can re-create :D Overall: 8.5/10 recommend read more

As an avid trail hikers I was in awe by this trails. I went on a Saturday before 8:30 in the morning and saw plenty of people in the 5 miles that I did. Great for walkers and joggers as well. Prettiest hike I've done in LA. Most of it is unpaved except in the area right by the golf course. Don't expect shade here folks, but the coastal breeze makes a big difference. Bring water! This is an easy trail. It has its fair share of hills; you'll be going up and down for about half of it... makes it a nice workout. I went all the way down to the water on every side trail and made the 40 minutes drive worth it. The scenery is just so gorgeous to not make the most of it! The golf course has a public washroom and a free parking lot for anyone using the trail. I would return again and definitely recommend it to others. 4.5 stars rounded to 5 due to ***proceed with caution, trails are rocky and not easy to walk without proper shoes The Ocean Trails/Founders Park is owned and maintained by the City of Palos Verdes, and has a parking lot which is accessible from the drive onto the Trump National Golf Course. It is the second driveway you see when driving onto the property, just before getting to the Valet at the Trump Property. Parking is free. The location of the trails is adjacent and somewhat intertwined with the Trump National Golf Course Property. Once you park you will actually enter the walking trails by crossing over the Trump golf course and then onto the dirt trails. I wanted to check out the trails and was wearing flip flops, first mistake. Once leaving the concrete trails of the Trump property, the trails to the ocean are rocky and steep, so wear hiking or tennis shoes to make your walk more comfortable. I personally would not recommend this for young kids, or anyone with weak knees or ankles. This it is very rustic and can be dangerous at points, as one cliff path has no barrier between the cliff and a several ft drop onto the rocks, see pics. I believe I took one of several paths (Sunset Path ?) but they were unmarked as far as I could tell, so I don't know the name of the one I took but I am guessing by looking on a map. read more

Wow, is all I can say! The views are beautiful from these cliffs around the Trump Golf Course, and the trails lead you to nice scenic points as well as all the way to the beach front area. Yesterday, the water was so lightly blue, I felt like I was in come secret Carribean locals. I think there might've been only one other person that we encountered on the hike as well as on the beach. What a great place to get away from all the crazy city life. There is Abalone Cove down the ways from here, but that one seems to draw in the majority of visitors. I'm glad we stumbled upon this place, and although we have to (god forbid) drive onto one of Donald Trump's (ew) properties to get here, it was definitely worth it. I was surprised we were allowed to park anywhere without buying a parking permit. It almost seemed like we weren't supposed to park there since many who use the golf course park there. By no means was this really considered a "hike" to me since it took about 10 minutes or less to get down to the ocean, but still a good place to get a little hill action work out. read more

Get ready for roughly 5 miles of hiking under the hot, Southern Californian sun as there is almost virtually no shade. SO don't forget the essentials like hats, bug repellent, and sunscreen... your skin and sanity will thank you for that in the long run. Parking was easily found along '1 Trump National Dr.' and there is also a small parking lot for patrons who are either visiting the hiking trails or Founder's Park. However, come early to hike as it seems that parking gets filled quickly later on throughout the day. Restrooms are located in the nearby country club that is just passed the outdoor Trump clock and don't worry, they are still usable despite the ongoing pandemic. Relatively, on this hiking trail what you are going to expect are mostly dirt and rocky trails with some paved areas. The inclines and declines were not too bad because I was easily able to explore most of the trails. What I most enjoyed about my small morning venture was the cool breeze, wildlife sightings (esp the dolphin sightings), and last but not least the beauty of this vast landscape! You are also able to bring dogs to this hiking trail but please remember to keep your dogs on a leash and please keep an eye out for cacti when you are walking your dog. If you are planning to take a walk on the beach please take per caution of the tide charts and bring sturdy shoes because its the rockiest part of the hike! Remember, as there is an ongoing pandemic, please remember to wear a mask and follow social distancing rules. It may be difficult, but wearing a mask shows that you care :) read more
