We call it camp. When I ask my Pugs if they want to go to camp, they get excited because they know they're going to have fun. Whether it's for grooming, daycare, or boarding, Ocean View Kennel has a lot to offer. OVK is definitely a local, family business. The facilities aren't pristine, but they're clean. More importantly, the dogs have a great time. The centerpiece of OVK is Lisa, aka The Dog Lady. I've never met a more passionate person when it comes to dogs. She understands dogs. And somehow she knows who plays well with whom. I have a dominant little girl Pug, and she does better with big dogs than she does with other small dogs. My old man Pug is content in pretty much any crowd as long as he can sniff around the enclosed playground and pee on every vertical object. When I pick up my Pugs after a day at OVK, they're exhausted, and this is a good thing. I tired dog doesn't get into trouble. They play hard, and it's money well spent. read more

My dog loves Oceanview day care! He's been going there 2 days a week for about 3 years, and whenever I ask him if he wants to "go see his friends," he gets very excited. He loves the people there, too, as well as his dog friends. Before I can get him in the car and go home, he wants to give the caregivers a doggie hug. I'm also very comfortable having him stay there when I'm out of town because he has a great time with his friends, and he gets to play with dogs who are there on the days he doesn't usually go for daycare. The people who work there are very knowledgeable about dogs, and they evaluate the dogs before placing them in the appropriate play groups. I highly recommend Oceanview if you want your dog to have a fun, safe, supervised play space for when you're at work or out of town. read more

This was our first experience with a dog day care. Our little Gia is a beagle about to be 1. She is so shy but Lisa got her out of her she'll in 2 days. Down to earth person, I am an overprotective person and I feel so comfortable knowing Lisa has her. Just a great woman and to add her daughter is a vet tech. This place basically stole our family dog and wanted to sell her back to us! Our dog, Luna ran off and a neighbor called animal control which brought the dog to this business. During my moms search, the neighbor told her where Luna was. My mom heads immediately there and they refused to give back the dog without proper documentation of vaccinations which obviously my mom doesn't just carry with her? So, when she went back with the documentation, they said she must pay $1000 to get her out?!? As we asked for her to be there?? It makes no sense to me. Now my 7 year old daughter no longer has her playmate when she visits her grandmother, we all miss Luna dearly! We were the ones who named her. It made me furious to see the owner was selling her on her Facebook! Wouldn't any "pet lover" want the dog to go back to their HOME??! It's disgusting, what a business ! Probably taking advantage of my mom because English is her second language, she also told me the guy in the front is extremely rude. read more

We have been bringing our dog, Bear, to daycare here for over a year and can not say enough great things about this place. It's family owned and operated, and the great staff (Marion, Mike, Lisa, Darlene, George, and others) genuinely love all of the dogs that go here. Our dog gets so excited when we approach daycare and doesn't seem to want to leave (who can blame him - he plays with his friends all day)! In the summer they have doggy ice cream for the dogs and get their pictures taken for Halloween and Christmas. They have also helped in socializing/training shelter dogs and finding them loving homes. They have so much love in their hearts for dogs. If you are looking for a place with great rates and great people, definitely check them out. read more

Lisa Cutting treats all the dogs at Ocean View as if they were her own!! The Kennel is constantly clean, the dogs have a huge back yard to play in with lots and lots of toys. In the Summer, they get pool time. If you are going away, Lisa will be happy to board your dog. The best thing about OVK is that there is no breed restriction. Many places will not take bully breeds, but Lisa does not discriminate. Lisa does pick ups and drop offs if needed, which is such a help for folks with crazy schedules. Do yourself a favor, take your pup to OVK.... A tired dog is a good dog!!! read more

I love this place! Lisa and all the staff are fabulous, caring, true animal lovers. I was very concerned about finding a place for my 9 year old shepherd mix to go after 9 years of working from home with him by my side. He is now playing in the pool, running in the yard with the other pups and able to take his downtime in his own run with a buddy or two. And who knew he liked carrots!;) Just knowing he's in a happy, loving place all day -- and having a blast, is priceless. We can't say enough positive things about Ocean View Kennel! We brought our Shih Tzu here for her first haircut ever. She was admittedly a bit matted around her bum and on her flat little face. I comnunicated our desires and the woman who took her in said they would be able to accommodate that. We got her back and she was shaved down to the skin all over. Then they charged us 60 dollars for a straight shave job. We will not be back. read more

I took two dogs there for day care. i brought them blankets and also a piece of clothing as instructed to make them feel ok. I specified that my dogs do not get along, put them in separate crates when they did. When i picked them up they were in the same crate and one of my dogs was acting weird for like 2 days like when they fight. I told the lady owner that i had specified to not put them on the same crate, she said she decided to do it because the crate was big enough for big dogs and mine are small. its been over a month and my dogs won't play with each other anymore ever since i brought them there. it hurts me like crazy to see it, and im just warning everyone out there. its not cool. and its something that i don't know if i ll be able to help my dogs with anymore. its hurtful to see it. also they never returned me my blankets and clothing i had to call and ask for it and even then they said they can't find one, just one of them they found. :( i don't know if i can go back here. and i needed to write this to warn some people about this. read more

We have used Ocean View several time over the last year to board our dogs when we travel.. We only have good things to say about Lisa and the rest of the staff. Everyone is a animal lover and treat each "guest" as if they were their own pet. I highly recommend Ocean View. read more

We were traveling with our dog all the way from Guam and the staff here was absolutely incredible! They arrived at the airport only to find out that our dog wasn't on the flight he was supposed to be on. The staff had to return to the airport at 10:30 PM to pick him up. I'm so grateful for their commitment to their animals. When we picked up our dog he was in great spirits considering his long trip. We just returned from visiting friends in Boston over 4th of July. Our friends are allergic to dogs, and -knowing our pitmix dog would be scared out of her wits during the fireworks -we boarded her here, not really knowing anything more than what they told us over the phone, and trusting what they said. (I am not totally trusting, as we have been through other situations where people told us one thing - "we will walk your dog, and give her playtime" - and actually did another - "we are in truth afraid of dogs that look like yours, so she stayed in her kennel all day". This scenario happened at the kennel on Mt. Desert Island - but that's another review. :) OceanView kennel was a Godsend for us - not only did they take fantastic care of our Pearl, but Lisa gave us so much valuable information! They truly care about animals. I was moved not only with their care of our Pearl, but with the passion they have for their rescue work. Their knowledge base with dogs is incredible - they truly take time to know your dog, and do what's best for your dog in regards to socialization, training and care. They also have experienced staff on location 24/7,which is not always the case at all kennels. We are very grateful to now have a place we can board our Pearl when we come to visit Boston. This is a wonderful, family operated dog care facility. read more
