I would never recommend OceanFirst Bank to anyone. I deposited over $10,000 of my own money into my personal account and, as a courtesy, gave the bank a full week's notice that I wanted to withdraw it in cash. I simply asked them to let me know which day the following week the cash would be available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead of accommodating a reasonable request, I received a call from an OceanFirst mortgage representative questioning why I wanted to withdraw my own money and insisting that I provide a reason. That is completely unacceptable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My response was simple: it is my money, and I do not owe anyone an explanation for accessing my own funds. The only reason I have a checking account with OceanFirst is because I was required to open one to receive a better mortgage interest rate. If not for that requirement, I would never have banked here. This experience was unprofessional, intrusive, and disrespectful. Customers should not be interrogated simply for withdrawing their own money after giving the bank advance notice. If this is how OceanFirst treats its customers, I cannot recommend doing business with them. There are plenty of banks that respect their customers and understand that their money belongs to them--not the bank. I will be closing my accounts as soon as possible and taking my business elsewhere. read more

Horrible! NJ resident moved out of state but appreciated the original small town feel. Since moving I have not been able to receive a debit card in the mail. NO ONE CAN REALLY SAY WHY. Regular mail, expedited mail. Never comes but virtual card is available. No fraud alerts... Most horrible experience & after many many years I going to another bank!!!!! read more

I am very disappointed with my experience using the OceanFirst credit card. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Rayinn and Rolanda from customer service showed a lack of knowledge about their own credit card products, which made resolving issues frustrating and slow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The upgrade process from the Platinum card to the Signature card is extremely confusing and poorly explained. After the upgrade, you have to wait 45 days before the card is fully converted and can start earning rewards, which is inconvenient and poorly communicated. Overall, the customer service and policies are disappointing, and I would not recommend this credit card to anyone looking for transparency and reliable support. read more

Worst bank ever, used this bank for over 30 yrs, impossible to find banks with tellers, on hold for 20 minutes. Service is horrible

My grandmother (94 years old, deaf and mostly blind) who has an account here, apparently had a fraudulent transaction. My mother who is on the account is out of state. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I call the bank, with my grandmother in THE FUCKING ROOM WITH ME, i have her social, DOB, you name it. All i needed was to see if there was a fraudulent transaction and to issue a new card via mail, which i am also able to verify the address BECAUSE I LIVE WITH HER.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The idiot on the other line said he couldn't verify that my grandmother was in the room with me so he cant help even after having her say her name into the phone to VERIFY.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If that's the case how do you verify anyone at all? The worst bank by far took a check they issued in there and still wouldn't cash it ...they never heard of a E-CHECK thought banks deal with that stuff all the time ..anyway I would not recommend this bank for my worst enemy employee were rude and treated me horribly...they should be ashamed of there selves read more

Have to give a star in order to post review but it's really NO stars! OMG the worst banking ever. Repeatedly have experienced terrible customer service. Had my debit set to where it would not work if in didn't have the funds. Suddenly one day that stopped. Ranked up 5 $38.00 charges in two days without ANY notice or anything. Called and after waiting for 43 minutes finally spoke with someone- he reversed 4 of f the charges but it last one. Mind you, both my husband and I have our checks automatically deposited to this bank, have several accounts, AND a mortgage going on 23 years. This is the thanks they show you. After being assured the debit work go back to not allowing me to overdraw, I saw another 38.00 charge and again, I was over. Went into the bank. The branch manager told me to go to the other branch because she couldn't fix the problem herself. Drive across Brick and have wait, and wait for the manager. She laughed at the 38.00 charge for my debit being overdrawn said, "it's only 38.00; I'll give you the 38.00!" Like sorry but I'm a teacher and 38.00 is 38.00 to me. And this is one of several times I have had terrible experiences with this bank. I would NEVER recommend them. I have a second account at another very local bank (Manasquan) and have had mother but the best customer service experience both in person and on the phone. I am in the process of moving most of our day to day banking there. The less I have to interact with anyone at Ocean First the better. read more

This bank used to be a good bank but they updated their online banking software a few months back and it been nothing but a hassle ever since. System is down FREQUENTLY with no explanation. If you call customer service as the suggest on the website there isn't anything they can do. Whatever genius supervised this upgrade should be fired as several months into it it is still going down frequently. The service in the branches is good but I set up an online account so I don't have to go to the branch offices. read more

i am 60 years old and i have never used another back for my checking and savings. my very first kiddie account was with this bank when i was 5 years old. i got my first mortgage from this bank. the bank has grown over the years and now has a number of branches mostly in Monmouth and Ocean counties in NJ. this branch in Chambersbridge Rd in Brick is my main branch. the people here are lovely and they are very helpful. i highly recommend using this bank. read more

I have a mortgage with them, a small one, but EVERY YEAR I have an issue with the escrow. They send a letter with a new calculation; I pay the difference to keep the payment the same; and yet the payment changes. Since I have automatic payments set up, this has caused an issue in the past. Luckily this year I remembered to check the statement and yep, they increased the payment. This is why I have no other accounts with them. I'll be paying this one off ASAP so I can stop having to deal with them. They need to get their systems into this century. read more
