This gym was a disappointment. My review is only to make sure everyone knows the older reviews are spot on when it comes to the "classes" offered for young children. Someone mentioned that they should stop offering these, and I agree. I took my 4.5yr old for a trial and I can't say what they do during their classes because in order to see them, you have to literally press your face against the building to see from outside. My coworker took her daughter for a trial class before mine and her experience was not a positive but completely different than mine. Her husband at least got to walk her their daughter back to the area where the kids would be. Whereas I had to just shove mine through the door while they were shouting "red room!" There is no rollcall, they never even asked my daughters name so it's amazing. They knew who she was or why we were even there. read more

As a resident of Oceanside, I'm generally reluctant to speak negatively about local businesses, understanding the economic pressures they face. However, I'm concerned about the safety and cleanliness at this establishment. The visibility of the young children group is compromised (parents forced to awkwardly peek in from the outside tinted windows), which is unnerving for any parent (see other unfortunate reviews here and on Google). Given the awkward layout of an industrial park floor plan, they have CCTV footage but it's awful. With simple outreach(I work in IT), this is a solved problem... Additionally, the cleanliness leaves much to be desired, with a noticeable odor reminiscent of dirty feet, which we have not experienced in our new gym. I truly hope improvements can be made because I would love to see this business succeed and thrive. read more

DO NOT go to this place. Read the other one star reviews- this place is terrible. Young children are not safe (you can't even watch the youngest and most vulnerable children because they keep them out of sight). The owners are unprofessional and rude; if you are unlucky enough to ever see them they will talk to you about their pathetic political beliefs. The place is dirty. There is no roll call or parent check-in before class so its a chaotic free for all as class starts. And on top of all this, they will auto-enroll you in additional courses. They hide this trick somewhere in all the online documentation. I've never had such a terrible experience in any of my children's activities. This review is for "red room" which I believe is for kids 5 and under. Boy is it a mess here. 1. The waiting room is insane. There is no organization or flow. Chairs everywhere. Kids going in/out at the same time. There is ample space for this place to have a going in and going out room, instead they just shove everyone in to one area. 2. There is no viewing gallery like there used to be when this business was Gyminny Kids. You can stand and watch from different areas inside but you have to fight for space. They have bad quality cameras where you can watch you kids on 2 small tv screens. Orrrrr you can stand outside and peer into the blacked out windows. 3. The instructors for red room were disappointing. Majority of them look like they absolutely hate their jobs. There are one or two good ones there, other than that the instructors mostly seem like they do not enjoy children. The instructors seem like they have never done gymnastics in their life and the way they "teach" these kids is laughable. There is zero organization or routine here. It is more of a play place like the kind you pay to to hang out in for a bit and let the kids run around. This place is a cash cow at $102 for 5 classes @ 50mins each class. If you want your kids to learn any skills, do not send them here. This place needs restructuring and owners that actually have a passion for gymnastics. My daughter attended for 4 months and then we pulled her out after realizing it is a waste of money and she was learning nothing. Do better, Oceanside Gymnastics! read more

I can't begin to really express my disappointment with this establishment. We recently signed our 2.5 year old daughter for the "little hoppers" class which meets once a week. Signing up required a wait on a waitlist for some time until I was contacted by the gym to inform us a spot had opened. I was SO happy and excited for my daughter. I'm no gymnast but went to gymnastics as a kid and loved the experience so I was looking forward to my daughter experiencing the same...sadly this couldn't be further from the truth. We attended the first class of our 5 week session just a few days ago. A parent accompanies their child with these classes so I went along with her into the gym. My grievances begin with the instructor. I have never witnessed someone with less enthusiasm attempt to work with toddler aged children! I don't think I witnessed a single smile from this person. When I say the class lacked fun I feel that doesn't even quite give an honest picture. Let's put it this way...holding a wand in front of a fan for two minutes for "bubble time" doesn't excite me and it certainly didn't my toddler! Secondly, the "stations" we worked through attempted to corral toddlers (!!) to move through in a cycle fashion--um correct me if I'm wrong, but a 2 year old is still mastering identification of primary colors nevermind understands moving through an arranged cycles station! And for the love of god engage these kids! Play music, act like silly animals, make a fool of yourself--that's what kids WANT. With that, it's an experience not just some lady directing these little people to the next lame foam box on the floor. My daughter ran off to various items that attracted her that were away from the intended station and you know what? I didn't blame her! As a result of this I came home and talked it over with my husband. Quite frankly, the experience was so poor and disappointing that I decided to ask for a refund in that the service I was hoping for was simply not there. I called and spoke to someone and explained my issues. She was nice enough I suppose but informed me she would need to discuss this matter with the other office manager (Umm ok?). She later called me to inform me I was not going to receive a refund--this was against company policy (laughable really). This phone call was brief as I was busy and therefore called back later and spoke with a gentleman. This is where the customer service went from bad to horrible. Through our discussion he stated the offer was to either change our class time to a new instructor or use the credit toward open gym--no thank you. It was the service of this gym I had an issue with--switching things around doesn't change that. He then stated he would refund me partially (60 dollars of my 127 payment) as it's "against policy" to refund the processing and registration fees (what bullshit is that?!) And also stated we would not be welcomed to anymore classes in the future. I'm floored. This was the sorriest form of response to a customer grievance I've ever experienced. I guess Oceanside gymnastics isn't hurting if they can burn customers like this! Don't take your kid there. They'll have more fun playing in the dirt with a stick. read more

The team coaches are wonderful. They train the girls to have confidence, try their best, and never give up, which are great life skills! Gymnastics is tough and the coaches have the perfect balance of firm and loving while coaching the girls. They always encourage our daughter and help her through her fears. PARENTS BEWARE...MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS! I don't usually write negative reviews, but when it comes to the safety of children I will make an exception. I enrolled my 4 year old daughter in gymnastics at this facility because it was really the only gymnastics center in town at the time and the parents I spoke with had mixed reviews, but nothing too bad. At first, I only had minor concerns. The classes were pretty crowded and, with so many classes going on at the same time, the gym was very chaotic. Also, for the little kids starting out in their first independent class (having just aged out of parent/child classes), parents had to observe from standing outside the building pressing their faces on the windows to see, or from a small crowded room on tiny tv screens trying to find a brief glimpse of their child when they were in front of the camera. The staff seemed knowledgeable. So I thought as long as the teachers could safely monitor their own class amidst all the chaos, it wasn't ideal, but at least my child would be safe. I WAS WRONG!!! In March 2020 my baby took a terrible fall, briefly lost consciousness, and was brought to me screaming in pain and bleeding from her eye. The gym has what I can only describe as an elevated long rectangular trampoline (maybe 5 feet high...my best guess since parents can't get near the room it's in). My daughter says it looks like a long street lane high up in the air. The children are asked to walk up several steps to an elevated platform and wait their turn to jump all the way down the trampoline lane while the instructor is standing on the ground watching from below. On the day of the accident, I had been intently scanning the small screens trying to capture any brief images of my daughter as usual, and just happened to catch a glimpse of her instructor carrying a limp child in his arms that looked like it could be my child. Then I heard her screams and went running to the front so quickly that I left my purse behind. She was bleeding from her eye and screaming. She was clearly confused and scared, and couldn't walk on her own. I was told that my daughter "wasn't paying close enough attention, jumped the wrong way on the trampoline and took a little fall" (basically blaming a seriously injured 4 year old for the facility's lack of adequate supervision and safety precautions). Then I was shown their footage of my daughter's accident immediately as they brought me to her in the front office (and as I was trying to stop her bleeding, comfort her, and get out of there to rush her to the ER). Here is what the video showed... All the little ones in the class were crowded together on top of the steps and raised platform, giggling and playing as kids do, taking their turn jumping their way down the trampoline lane. The instructor (off to the side on the ground) appeared to have his focus split between the children on the trampoline and talking to someone. He was too far away from the trampoline to be able to safely spot the children, and would turn away to speak to someone and then turn back to his class. There is no way these little kids should have been up there jumping without a spotter next to them. I saw my child take her turn. She must have taken a funny jump because she launched like a rocket (superman style) back toward the platform face first into the metal barrier surrounding the raised platform (it resembled a rod iron fence...with no safety padding around the metal poles like you would see on other gym equipment used with little kids). The teacher was off camera as I saw my daughter launch face first into the metal barrier and fall (unconscious and limp) face down onto the platform. A moment later, I saw the instructor come back on camera rushing to the platform to pick up my unconscious child and carry her toward the front, which is when she awoke and started screaming. I understand there are inherent risks with gymnastics. I wouldn't blame the facility had they taken appropriate measures to keep my child safe, but I do not believe they did. And what happened next only confirmed their total lack of regard for the safety and well being of the children entrusted to their care. As I was rushing to take my child to the ER, the manager said they would follow up the next day to make sure she was ok and have me come in and complete an incident report. It has been almost a year since the accident, and to this day no one from the facility has ever followed up...even after I left a message several days later informing them that my daughter had a concussion, needed stitches over her eye (and may need facial plastic surgery). To add insult to injury, this was only the second class in the (12 week?) series we paid for. They closed due to COVID two weeks later and never offered a refund for the unused classes, and then had the gall to call me recently to inform me they had an opening and wanted to see if I wanted to re-enroll her and purchase more classes. The business is not Covid-19 cautious in any way. The parents and students are packed in the waiting room with no masks or social distancing. They have no safe drop off location either for parents and children and the parking lot is always a traffic nightmare trying to get to and from practice. read more

UNSAFE! I am extremely disappointed with Oceanside Gymnastics. I believe the only reason they're still in business is because there aren't other options locally. My daughter did rec gymnastics here. It was not very challenging, and she often said she was bored. I especially did not appreciate watching my daughter's rec class one day when the instructor punished them with push-ups for falling off the balance beam. That is completely un-called for in recreational gymnastics with 9 year olds. But my biggest issue - and the reason I pulled my daughter, and refuse to go back to this gym - is the lack of safety. The instructors don't know how to spot safely; they don't even watch, half the time; they don't teach the kids how to do gymnastics safely. I was watching, to see if this would be a good environment to put my other child in. Since that kiddo deals with sensory issues as well as balance & coordination problems, I knew I needed to be cautious regarding any risky activities. Let's start off with the place is clean. Employees are professional. The reason for the two stars is their boys gymnastics program lacks the structure that is needed. The instructors have no focus on training the boys on one specific task. They run the boys all over the gym from station to station. While the instructors talk with one boy all the other boys are just running around. The instructors need to be more assertive and take over the class not the children. The company definitely is focused on the girls programs. I will not sign my son up again here. It was a waste of money. read more

I brought my one year old son here for the first time thinking it would be good for him to interact and try something new. It was a horrible experience and i'll never go back. The Staff is not cheerful at all. They don't interact with the children and the women running the front desk don't talk to us parents at all. Very quiet and grumpy towards us and it's not a business that i'll support from here on and no one that I know will ever be recommended to come here. There are more options in the area where the staff actually care about the kids. Before the kids went out a women told her two girls not to bother with that little boy because this is their class. Right off the bat he was singled out from the parents which blows my mind because I thought Dance Moms was a fake set up show but really there are parents that do think they are more important. Younger children ages 3 and under go into their own little area for gymnastics but the area is in a corner where you can't seem them at all. As a parent you want to see your kids do new things.. It's fun and exciting but when I went in with my wife to take photos of our little guy doing something new... I was kicked out and told to go in the waiting room. They have monitors in the waiting room where you can watch from a screen at low quality but how is that exciting for us parents? I'm not the father that goes to my kids events and just sits on my phone. I want to watch with my own two eyes and take photos for memories. My wife was talked to poorly by the front desk and she decided to get our money back and pull our son out early. The lady just said "k" and handed her the money back and that was all that was said. If your looking to put your kids into gymnastics for a fun experience where they can learn and grow into a sport and you can be involved and at least see them learn.... This place is not the place for you. This place should be the last resort. Your kids mean nothing to them and neither do you. Unless your that parent that just wants time to yourself so you can play games on your phone. Take the time to look at other reviews posted by other people who have had the same experience. Two years later, she is part of the bronze level team and just finished her first competition. Wow, the change in my little girl is amazing. Thanks to the guidance and encouragement of the entire staff, she has come out of her shell and become a confident athlete. My daughter has been going here for a year and my son briefly went during the summer. The programs for small children are fantastic and the boys class was really great and inclusive. The prices seem high to people moving to California for the first time but they are on par for the area and the quality. The facilities are fantastic and spacious. There are separate gym areas for the smaller and larger children. The seating area for parents allows you to watch your children without distracting them. All of the teachers for the younger children are great but Mr. Levi is energetic and silly and that creates an easy learning environment for 3-5 year olds learning gymnastics for the first time. Put it this way, we love OG so much that we moved to Murrieta and still drive to Oceanside once a week for class! read more

Came here with our 4yr old daughter and was very impressed with the gym! It's huge and has every type of gymnastics equipment you could ask for. They offer all types of classes for kids of all ages and it's reasonably priced! They have open gym to when you can go and jump on trampolines! This gym has a competitive gymnastics team but they also have recreational classes too in case you are not interested in competing. From what I understand, they also do birthday parties there and summer camps. Would recommend and go back! read more

My 4 year old son REALLY likes it here. He started with the recreational class, but is now in the team group. He just loves it. It is a bit pricey for MY pocketbook specifically, but it is absolutely, without a doubt, fair. They do have quite a few events, and send plenty of emails. My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is because- as some have already mentioned- they aren't exactly overwhelmingly welcoming. They are courteous, but could definitely be a bit more friendly and inviting. That would make me want to tell more people about it and I think it could lead to increased referral business. I am absolutely up in arms at the moment and completely floored at the lack of couth the owner of this gym has. I am giving this gymnasium a 1 star rating because I feel like there is false advertising going on and the owner was absolutely rude. I purchased a Living Social deal for Oceanside Gymnastics ($60 for a week of half day Summer camp for kids age 4-6). My daughter turned 4 in early May. I filled out the paperwork, and turned it in immediately registering her for this week (June 11-15) Edible Art. Upon registering her for the mornings I asked if it would be a problem to sign her up on Tuesday Afternoon since the morning would conflict with her dance class. I was told it would be "no problem at all" twice (once on the phone and once in person). It even states that on the Summer Camp flier "We understand unexpected events arise and will make an effort to accommodate necessary changes to your campers' schedule; additional charges may apply." I wasn't charged an additional fee, but I assumed it wasn't an issue. What is one kid extra in the afternoon for one day? Apparently a lot. I received a telephone call from the owner Reevon this afternoon. She was very curt and unprofessional with her tone and the things she told me. She was calling because I brought my daughter in a pull-up to class, which she kept calling a diaper (there is a big difference between the two, as any parent or childcare professional knows). When the campers were told to take a bathroom break - my daughter told the counselor she didn't need to use the bathroom because she peed in her pull-up. My daughter was honest - which is a HUGE deal during potty training as all parents know. Reevon's tone with me over the fact my daughter isn't potty trained yet at 4 was really unprofessional. The accusatory tone when I was asked, "Have you started potty training? Why isn't she potty trained yet?" took me by surprise. I had to explain to her that we are working on it, but Samantha went through a very stressful time last year through present day with me on bed rest for a terrible pregnancy and having a baby sister born prematurely at 26 weeks with a heart defect who spent 5 months in the NICU and has been in and out of the hospital for heart surgeries and other issues. Potty training has been on the back burner and she tries to go potty but I'm not going to stress her out over it because she has enough on her plate. Reevon's response? Well, last year was terrible because the age limit was 3 and the diapers leaked all over and the coaches spent more time cleaning pee than teaching, which is why they raised the age limit to 4. So if my daughter pees tomorrow during class she won't be allowed back the rest of the week. Seriously? I was shocked. I offered to put her in an over night pull-up which has more absorbency if the fear of leaking is an issue and got chastised for not knowing they get put in a harness for a bungee bouncer. Reevon wasn't even hearing it or willing to work with me. To threaten to kick my child out for not being 100% potty trained is absolute bull considering it is NO WHERE in the Rules and Regs, the advertisement on Living Social, their Summer Camp flier, or anywhere on their website. The affect this could have on my daughter mentally is terrible and could cause a lot of distress. If potty training is a requirement and was such a problem last year, then the owner Reevon should have made sure in the past year it was included in the advertising and changes made to reflect that all students must be potty trained in the rules and regulations. This rule about potty training was no where in the legally binding contract I signed, and if my daughter does get kicked out for peeing in her pull-up tomorrow without a refund of the remaining $36 for the week, you can better believe I will be contacting an attorney and suing this establishment and Reevon. Also, I don't care that Living Social didn't contact you prior to posting the deal up or that someone else signed up their three year old via this deal - none of that is my problem. I'm the customer, not a Living Social Customer Service agent - that was totally unprofessional and unnecessary to dump on me. Do YOUR job as owner and make sure that your contracts, advertisements, and coupons reflect EXACTLY what you want - I'm a business owner too, and I would NEVER do this to a customer. I also don't care that now she is taking up two Living Social spots because of one afternoon. I did my part as a consumer and asked twice. If your employees weren't trained properly on the sign-up procedure for your Summer Day Camps then that's your bad as an Owner of a company - not my problem and did NOT need to be disclosed to me. *Update* Reevon called me back and had a totally different attitude and tone of voice. She has "fixed the website to reflect the policy" and allowed my daughter to finish the week despite wearing a pull-up, so I raised the gym to 3 stars. read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews and would rather leave no review if it can't be positive. However, I feel I need to share my experience for other parents. Let me start by saying that my 7 year daughter has no gymnastic experience. Like most kids she wants to try everything. Summer camps are a good way to try out new activities. So I signed her up for a 1/2 day week long camp at Oceanside Gymnastics. The first day I pick her up she is tears. She tells me that she was being teased all day by a bunch of girls because she doesn't know how to use any of the equipment. Also any time she was in line to use something, she says that a few girls would cut in front of her and bump her out of the way without anything from the coaches that this was unacceptable behavior. It was clear at drop-off that most participants were regular attendees of the gym and had prior gymnastic experience. It's obvious that the coaches do not emphasize the need to be humble. My daughter trains at a dojo and this type of behavior would never be tolerated. She did want to go back. Pick up on day 2 is more of the same. Another camper throws something at her head because she was sitting on something he wanted to use. And again nothing was said or done to the other kid. I got there 10 minutes before camp ended and was watching them play a group game where the kids have to run back to a start before being tagged. One of the smaller kids started crying and a few people went to her and the coach shrugs it off and says, "she's fine, she just got scared by all the kids." This little girl was maybe 4 years old and he completely dismissed her and wouldn't let anyone else help her. This place lacks any emotion and an ability to teach kids how to be humble about their abilities. I am so disappointed that this was my daughter's first experience with gymnastics and hope it does not turn her off to wanting to try it out again. If she does, it will be at another gym. read more

So far so good, my daughter just started here and I really like the teacher. I was a bit hesitant in the begining because the owners son was not the nicest person when I went to check prices and schedules. He sort of acted like I was an inconvenience to him and what he was doing. I think he was a bit surprised that I actually showed up on trial day. Despite his first impression he left on me, he was a lot more professional the second time around. A little tip there .. be professional, if you own or work at a business the first impression leaves a lasting one. I love my daughters teacher and that is the reason we are staying. I was told by lady who worked there that they catered to special needs children. My son went in tonight for the evaluation and worked with Lucas. It should have been obvious to Lucas that my son is special needs and is not as physically strong as the children half his age. My son repeatedly asked if he could please sit down because he was so fatigued. Lucas told him that my son could sit down when he sat down. When my son asked him when he was going to sit down Lucas said never. I'm so highly disappointed. This was a huge blow to my sons self esteem. If you go to the front counter for anything you are guaranteed to wait for at least 10 minutes(usually longer) because they cannot do anything simultaneously. My daughter enjoyed every class! The equipment and facilities are great. She loves Coach Randi, Coach Crystal, and Coach Kiana, who helped her so much. We spent the summer in the area so she came a couple of times a week. She made so much progress in only 10 classes! Plus their Open Gym was really helpful. We are so sad to leave. read more

Pros: -They are great with communication. They send plenty of emails to keep you updated.(for team, not sure about rec). I never felt out of the loop. -Lots of events. I loved that they had a sleepover and a whole meet the parents event. They also did the Oceanside parade. My daughter loved that. -No hidden fees. They are very upfront about how much things cost. Ive never been surprised when I got a bill. -They listen. My daughter had a problem with some of the girls being mean to her to the point where she wanted to quit and they took the time to talk to us and work things out. -Theyre understanding. Ive seen kids barf (mine included) and pee there and they always clean it up with no complaints. Cons: -I've seen the grumpiness that's mentioned in the other reviews. It's actually one of the main reasons we left. I honestly wasnt sure if we were even wanted at the gym. It wasnt always the most welcoming environment. -all other cons have to do with the renovation they were doing while we were there so Ill leave that out since it's a temporary thing. Besides the grumpiness, the other reason we left is because I felt like some of the coaching styles didnt fit my daughter. She shuts down or acts out when she's singled out or yelled at. Gymnastics is a tough sport but at 5yrs old, she didnt respond well to some of the coaches. The coaches that I loved for her are Krysta (her favorite coach of all time lol) and Cheyanne. For my little one (3 at the time), I loved Coach Victoria for her. We had to leave the gym for a bit due to a family emergency and since I wasnt feeling exactly welcome at the gym, we decided to try a different one out when we got back. It's not a horrible place, my daughter asks to go back often. If I was sure she was welcome and she had a coach that she responded well to, Id take her back. Whenever I spoke to Revon or Amanda directly, they were always very nice to me and pretty chatty. Never short or rude. My little one actually loved Amanda. But yeah, they dont seem to be the smiling and saying hello to everyone that walks in the door type lol. Cant really blame them for that because it's not my personality either. But honestly, I think hiring someone extremely bubbly and friendly to work the front desk would definitely boost their reviews. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but their boys rec classes are lacking. There is no actual teaching or instruction on how to do anything. Just simply telling the boys what needs to be done. I was concerned from the beginning that my son wasn't actually learning how to do the movements. The final straw was when my 7 year old was sent up the rope with ZERO instruction on how to get down, or what to do if/when he reached the top. Maybe the instructor wasn't expecting him to reach the top, but he did. Keep in mind this isn't a 15 ft rope, it goes all the way to the ceiling. My son had no clue on how he was suppose to get done and I could see the panic on his face from the parent waiting room. He slid down half way, resulting in rope burn then finally let go a little bit less than half way. Fortunetly he held on as long as he did, otherwise he could have gotten more than just rope burn. If the instructor lacked to give the most basic, but necessary guidance on that, I'd hate to what it would look like when they got to complicated movements. read more
