I was hospitalized the first week of October. I had to be intubated and the rapid response team, and the nurses that took care of me after I was brought down from ICU, were amazing! They were attentive, helpful, pleasant and accommodated me in every way that they could each nurse was very kind. And if I ask something, I did not have to wait an hour they were on it. So I just want to thank them for a job well done and for taking care of me as if I was their own family. Thank you ladies. read more

Went to ER. Had a chair in the hallway because there were 45 people that day in ER. Nothing was handled privately. I heard everyone's medical information as they heard mine. The attending staff was great, but I'd rather just die then deal with anything Oschner again. I then get a hospital bill - huge bill followed by the Kenner emergency group LLC Doctor bill. The huge bill is a facility use - the equipment there is not my responsibility. If Oschner wants to keep building buildings and buying more equipment that's on them. The Kenner emergency group bill was for the attending doctor. $2400 for me to sit in a hallway and wait for some test results. The whole place is horrible - and the one bathroom for everyone in the ER was vile. read more

I had knee replacement and was hoping to go home afterwards but that didn't happen, so I ended up on the 4th floor of the hospital. What a surprise. The nursing staff was so professional and caring. They explained what medications I was given they talked to me like a person. I can't remember all their names but Chass as my nurse and Kristin as my PCT were exceptional. I don't mean to slight any of staff by not naming you but I can't remember you all. I want to say the therapy team the nurses I had were excellent. Professional and caring. I had the best of the best and Ochsner should be very proud to have such a staff. read more

I went to Oschner center for a procedure for my back. I was sent back and forth between front deaks. Finally. I'm sent one where I was told it was cancelled. I had fasted the night before. I have never seen such an unprofessional and disorganized mediical center I will never ever go back there for anything. Three weeks ago people were twice people standing in front of me were told by a respectionist, "I don't see it here" I' don't see it here" "I don't see it here" Well, the next time was me at this place. They told me I could reschedule at the office I said , "No, thanks". and walked off. "she said I have a nice day" as I was leaving. I cancelled plans this week, and also it's a good thing I work independently or I would have scheduled vacation time at an employer. The primary care doctor was okay, but flippant. she seemed impatient. I had a bad feeling starting this from the beginning and scheduled with another network to get something done with my medical issue I've had for years. Two b I can't put a zero for this. read more

Update: I visited the ER this week with a pretty serious problem. I got there around 11:00 pm and did not get in a room to see a doctor until 4:00 am. The only phrase I could use to describe that night is shit show. There was a lot that happened but the most appalling is the fact that they were seeing flu symptom patients before severe bleeding and head lacerations/head trauma. The head laceration/ head trauma was there before me and 2 1/2 hours later (so longer for him) he began acting crazy and couldn't even speak. He did not recognize his own name. It was only then that he got seen by a doctor. I had severe bleeding (as result of a surgery complication) and sat there 5 hours. I thought that one of the points of triage was to determine who needed to be seen right away. Idk what was going on! read more

Making appointments on the app and showing up for someone to tell you that they don't have you down for an appointment and they cannot see you today is incredibly annoying. This was in the Mammogram Dept and it has happened to me twice. I also know 2 other people this has happened to. I understand that people make mistakes. This hospital is KNOWN for their mistakes. Was in two weeks ago with pain in my neck and arm and was told it was a pinched nerve. Fast forward to today I decided to get a second opinion because my pain was much worse and now I am scheduled for spinal surgery at a different hospital that did an MRI and found out I have not one but 2 bulging disks pressing against my spinal cord that need to be removed. Was also misdiagnosed for another condition three weeks earlier. I have definitely learned my lesson on where to go now. Will not be going back to ochsner read more

My husband has neuroendocrine cancer, and his medical team is here. It is one of the few neuroendocrine cancer teams in the country, and we can't recommend it highly enough. Things we have observed about the facility: - Some patient rooms are very generous in size and others are soooo tiny. ‍ - The nurses and other staff are wonderful. - The virtual nurse that visits with you by video chat is a great addition to the patient experience. He or she handles many of the administrative duties, freeing the nurses on the floor to pay more attention to patients. - Patient food is average, but the baked chicken is delicious. - The cafeteria is not open at night or on weekends, so family members are on their own to find a meal at those times. - Valet parking is available but it closes around 5:30 pm (approximately!). After this, you have to get your keys from security. The cost is just $5, and free for those over 65. - There is ample close, free parking. - MyOchsner, the app, is awesome. Your info is readily available and it's easy to send messages and get answers from your medical team. read more

Had the best experience today even tho I had to wait a while! Tiffany is THE best boobie Tech at Ochsner! Ochsner kenner had a little hiccup this morning while I was waiting BUT they were extremely apologetic and sweet about it! When my turn finally came Tiffany got me in and out in a jiffy! I know it's never fun to have a mammogram but Tiffany is the sweetest and if you have a chance go see her! Her manager was there as well to make sure everything went smoothly! Go Ochsner! Thumbs up! Since the hospital was purchased by Ochsner, conditions have improved. There's still quite a ways to go, but believe me it's much better, along with its safety record. I should know, I work in the Adminstration department. This hospital has always been a small, community place that serves the Kenner area. You can get seen quickly in the ER , which has saved me twice in the last 2 years. I've usually gone in the past to EJGH, but since I started working at Ochsner-Kenner I've started going there. Best place for medical care in New Orleans, especially urgent/ER care. We came here for urgent care late at night, as we heard that quality of urgent care places in the city is inconsistent. Our doctor was fast while being able to explain things very well. It's worth it to check wait times online before you get there. You can wait a long time (2hrs) if it's an unusually busy night and you have a non-critical issue that will be less prioritized. They don't specialize in pediatrics but can still take children. If it's a complex issue though, the location on Jefferson Highway has a pediatrics specialty. After Katrina, Oschner was the strongest system financially, so they bought a lot of competitors and expanded. Their quality has always been top notch and still is. read more

I went to get the first dose of the Covid vaccine last Sunday. I drove in from Baton Rouge for an 830 appointment twenty minutes early and when I saw the amount of people I thought I'd be there all day. Everything ran so smoothly and efficiently that I was home and back at my house in Baton Rouge by 9:35AM. Everyone was very nice. Well done read more

First of all I left work to go to the e.r. because I was feeling extremely light headed and dizzy. When I got there I did get seen pretty quickly. I was actually shocked how fast. They took blood and blew out my vein. While the service was fast, they don't seem to have very good bed side manner. I was told by one of the employees that I shouldn't have come to the e.r. and wasted their time. I should've made an appointment with my personal physician. Like, how am I suppose to know my problem wasn't life threatening? They found nothing wrong. Gave me no answers as to why I felt how I felt. I do not recommend this hospital at all. read more

They don't call this place "Killer Regional" for nothing. Just google the various freak accidents this place has had over the years. Including a dude that got split in half after an elevator fell! It's also extremely dirty and a cesspool for germs. They have had so many years to get their "janitorial issues" addressed however they just can't seem to hire anybody that knows how to mop. Disappointed is the best description of this facility I can muster! I had a procedure scheduled for tomorrow February 13; that's right HAD! Not hearing anything for my doctor since December when they casually rescheduled the procedure I called to see if it was still on and they confirmed. Today February 12 @ 12pm I get a recorded message saying to be at the Kenner campus for 730. Shortly after a call came from the same saying I owed $865 and they accepted credit cards or cash! Really less than 24 hours and I have to pay money for a procedure scheduled 2 months in advance! And yes I have insurance. Totally unprofessional and callous! I recently went to the Kenner Ochsner location to donate blood (closest to my office). It's much more convenient than the huge one on Jeff Hwy, so it was a quick in & out trip. Of course, it's a bit more dated and not as nice looking, but that's fine. Service was quick and friendly. They even gave me a free t-shirt. read more

Ochsner was recommended from a friend of mine who lives in Metarie, LA. ended up having to be seen for my left shoulder and the care provided was minimum without any CT scan/MRI which later determined in Mississippi as a torn rotator cuff. I was billed for the services at Ochsner when I already provided both BC/BS and Tricare to cover the expense. BC/BS paid and I received another bill the following month for the rest of the unpaid amount. I returned the bill with Tricare information indicated on the reverse side and returned to the billing address. The following month, I received another bill with "2nd notice" written on the bill. I returned the bill with the same information. Last week, I was contacted by Ochsner with a lady telling me this was a courtesy call to remind me to pay my past due bill. I explained the directions was followed and I became upset. She asked me for Tricare South billing address? My reply, you not know how to use a computer? The billing address is located online and she found two addresses, I said bill them both because I was in training not near a computer. Just imagine how much aggravation and frustration plus $$ is wasted to follow with patients with illnesses and t insufficient billing department. I do not recommend Ochsner until changes are made to better train their billing department! read more

My husband came in with a fever of 102 and he was acting delirious. The doctor who was looking after his is names Dr. Hue, they straight up told him he had a man cold. Anyone who knows my husband knows that he doesn't just "get sick" colds don't bother him it takes an act of congress to get him to go to the doctor let alone the ER. I am disgusted at how these people treated my husband. When I told them he wasn't acting right and was seeing stars they just said it was a cold... Every time his symptoms changed they didn't care and just brushed it off. I don't recommend coming here or to ANY Oschners. read more

Worst experience of me life. Labor & delivery I was mocked for having a birth plan. Nurses did not know side effects of meds used to induce labor, meds gave my muscular contractions in entire body, excriciating pain. No respect for latex allergy, at least 4 people did manaul exams on me, against my instructions. Labor was forced upon my body with high doses of pictocin. Epidural needle sites severly damaged my muscles & nerves. Bag after bag of saline was given despite my previous medical condition of kidney failure, causing me to choke on fluid in my throat and chest. I was chastised by doctor & nurses for not taking stronger pain meds than tylenol. Chastised by medical staff for having the baby in bed with me. Doctors have no respect for the body, can only process what they have learned in medical books. Though I pointed out in writing, my compromised immune system, no extra precautions were ever taken. I ended up with an infection of my entire female reproductive system & breats. Contracted staph infection on entire butocks & back from unsanitary hospital bed. Repeadedtly told by nurses that baby was jaundiced, he wasnt, as evidenced by bloodwork. Im lucky that I didnt die from infection & was able to diagnose myself. Doctor prescribed antibiotics that are contra-indicated for kidney damage, I had to correct her. I am a very private person & am sharing this story & information so that others & hospital management are aware of the incompetency that is the norm here. I trusted theses doctors to take care of me & they absolutely DID NOT. They did more harm to me than good. Yes, I have contacted a lawyer. I can appreciate good customer service, but the price that is charged to the insurance company as per their phone representative 'doesn't matter' because the patient responsibility and contractual obligation between the hospital and the insurance company regulates what a patient must pay. I can say that OSCHNER is a prime example of what is wrong with the over inflated health care industry in this nation. I pay my bills and I will pay this bill, as I have the last 2 weeks since December as they are charging 496 for every visit on a biweekly basis. Doctors have talent, and as an educated professional I agree with pay for profession, but this is way out of line. I look for the bloat to eventually disappear as the insurance companies are putting the squeeze on the customer for over priced 90 second visits and the providers will need to come to reality or patients will either quit and live with conditions or default on bills! Not sure that I can complain, I am a working professional trying to be middle class, maybe I should just make less and get on assistance and my bills will be paid. Don't wonder why there is such a wealth disparity in this country, look at how much making more than poverty costs you and you will end up below those on food stamps if you pay your bills. Recently ochsner clinics revised its lab billing without informaing patients. ochsner is now billing all lab work through the hospital rather than the clinic and it costs to the patient has increased 80 % plus. insurance companies pay more for hospital billing than they do for dr. office billing. if you have deducatble, noitice your next lab bill from ochsnet it is 81% higher. call your insurance company to verify this, they will!!! read more

After driving from Mississippi for Cancer treatment at the Main campus of Ochsner, We moved to Kenner to be near a good emergency room. Fortunately, our primary care doctor is here. All diagnostic procedures are here. I have used the emergency room 3 times with satisfaction. Guess what? Most of my specialists now come to Kenner! At my age, health care is important.
