He spayed this dog, before ever testing for heartworms. He administered shots to this dog, without ever testing for heart worms. He provided flea/tick and Heartworm PREVENTION medicine to this dog, without ever testing for heartworms, which could have killed her. I adopted this dog - and take her to an actual vet (whose first course of action is to test for heartworms) - and she is Heartworm positive. Never once was she tested at this office. We are appalled, and quite frankly, horrified. I have years of experience working with animals - and I have never seen a vet NOT test for heartworms as part of their basic routine. This is downright negligent and unprofessional. After researching other instances at this vet office and speaking with others in the community, it appears that this is not just an oversight. There is absolutely medical malpractice occurring here that will be investigated by the state.

After the surgery my dog was put in an outside kennel. When I picked her up she was covered in poop and vomit. The vet said that happens after surgery. I have had numerous dogs and cats go through surgery and they never were in that shape when I picked them up. This vet should have his license revoked. I cannot believe the great reviews on here. Gave unnecessary rabies vaccinations for both dogs because I didn't bring in paperwork at drop off. Poor communication as to records needed prior to procedure. Upon picking them up had paperwork but they'll had already given them shots without permission. One of my dogs was unusually skittish for months after going to see them for this procedure. I took my senior cat in who was losing weight rapidly, was lethargic, and was declining rapidly…read more Dr. Barrs ran some expensive tests (probably more than he needed to in order to jack up the price) and flatly informed me my cat was diabetic and basically I could start insulin treatments (which were incredibly expensive) or if I'd rather he could help me with the end of life care for my cat. Thankfully, I chose neither, paid, and left. After doing research, it turns out all my cat needed was a switch to wet food instead of dry. It is now several months later. My cat stopped losing weight uncontrollably, got back to a healthy weight, and acts several years younger than his age. Dr. Barrs completely lacked empathy, was very passive aggressive and rude, and suggested what was best for his own pockets. I mean, seriously, instead of a simple inexpensive diet change, he suggests end of life care or daily insulin shots I had already told him I could not afford? What a piece of work he is. I fully question his professional judgment. He didn't care one iota about me or my cat. I would never bring another animal to this place again. One positive about this place is the lady at the front desk was really nice to me. Dr. Barrs, on the other hand, could use a lesson in empathy, kindness, professionalism, and not being a greedy person.
