We hired OConsulting because we wanted to remodel our kitchen, laundry room and living room. Our remodel design included removing (2) walls and adding (2) windows in the kitchen, expanding the laundry room, and raising a sunken conversation pit in the living room. Upon initial contact we emailed details of our project and then had a video conference with Fredy and Nanak to discuss the project in more detail along with their services. A contract for the work was issued and signed and Fredy came out for a site visit to begin. Structural and mechanical engineered plans were then developed with a set of preliminary drawings for our review. We discussed a few adjustments we wanted to be made to the design and then finalized the design details. A stamped set of mechanical and structural engineered plans were issued and submitted to the city via OConsulting on our behalf for the city's review and approval. The engineering and plans were so well done that the only request the city had were minor verbiage to be added to the front page of the plans indicating wind speed of the area, that the property is within an HOA and that no oil drilling is located on the property. With the addition of the specified verbiage to the plans the city then approved the stamped set of plans and the building permit was successfully issued. Our experience with Fredy and Nanak at OConsulting was a pleasant experience. Both Fredy and Nanak were personally a pleasure to work with. They answered all of our questions, listened well to our design goals and vision, were attentive to our project and because of their highly skilled knowledge and skillset they made it possible for us to proceed with beginning construction on our remodel. Fredy did a great job with the plans for a 525sq ft addition of my house (master bedroom extension, new bathroom, additional hallway. He and Nanak were very easy to work with and responsive. He was very open to helping me conceptualize what I wanted; he offered great suggestions and options for me to choose from. They delivered plans within their estimated timelines. We used Fredy to help remodel our 100 year old beach cottage. It needed to be retrofitted to withstand an earthquake some other minor details Our initial meeting went great I thought. We laid out what we wanted and Fredy told us what we could and couldn't do. He told us he could have the plans done pretty quickly and we were happy with how it was going until.. We wanted to add a skylight and asked Fredy about it. He quickly said we couldn't and gave no real explanation why. So we did a little research, asked another engineer and found out it was possible. When we called to ask Fredy about it he YELLED AT MY WIFE and basic said not to question him. It seemed Fredy didn't want to do the extra work to look into it. He ended up adding it after I had another conversation with him. It's not over.. Once we finally get the plans and turn them into the City for review they get sent back to us. FREDY MESSED UP NORTH AND SOUTH! It then took him over 2 weeks to correct it! THIS COST US OVER 10K DOLLARS because the project was held up and we had to keep paying the mortgage FREDY MESSED UP OUR PLANS 2 MORE TIMES AND COST US OVER 20K DOLLARS IN MORTGAGE PAYMENTS AND MONTHS OF IDLE TIME Please don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews. I reached out to several structural engineers to get plans for removing an interior wall in my home. I received mixed answers and drastically varying quotes. I paid one a few hundred dollars to come out and spend 5 minutes in my attic to tell me my wall was load bearing and it would cost $4k for plans. It didn't sit right with me and on a whim, I decided to reach out to Fredy even though he had fewer reviews. I'm SO glad I did. Fredy came out in person and after spending a bit of time looking in the attic, concluded that the wall was NOT load bearing. He even had me come up there so he could show me exactly why it wasn't. On top of that, his pricing was extremely reasonable. We received plans exactly when he said we would and was available to answer any questions that came up during the process - we've now successfully completed our project. I worked with Fredy recently for plans for a whole house remodel. I spoke to 4-5 engineers that had either been recommended to me or I found via yelp & selected Fredy as he took the time to understand my project, walk me through the process and answer any questions I had prior to me signing a contract or him taking any payment for a consult. Fredy came out to the home himself to walk through the project & take measurements. The plans were delivered ahead of schedule and when revisions were needed he scheduled time to understand the needed edits with me via zoom. OConsulting were a pleasure to work with. Where to even start? Fredy Orellana is fantastic! When looking to install our bifold doors, I talked to several engineering/architectural firms and ran into estimates that were thousands more, or people who didn't really seem excited to take on a "smaller" project like ours. As soon as I spoke with Fredy I knew he was the right choice. Over the course of a few months, he drew up full plans for our home, created all the engineering calculations and specs for our door install, and was there with a solution and quick turnaround for any issues that came up as we implemented the install.
