Well. On time. But the bus drivers are NOT FRIENDLY. They seem irritated. Nice buses, on time, but that's it.

I really enjoy public transportation. It does take longer than driving but I go to the beach and lot and it's cheaper than paying to park. I also don't have to search for parking. Sometimes I take long walks to the beach then take the bus home after I get tired. I frequent the 70, 71, 72, 79, 90, and the 1. If I'm not taking Metrolink south from the Tustin station I'll hop on the 70, 72, or 90. I love that the senior fares start at 60. Other transportation systems are 65. If I could change one thing, I would add more buses on route 1. Its such a long route and a long wait between busses. read more

Last evening 6 pm I ask the bus driver to lower the bus (it has hydrolics) she said it wasn't working so my PCA helped me up. I swiped my card and paid the fair for both of us showing the driver the PCA disclaimer. We sat down ready to go. Bus driver YELLING at us that PCA has to pay full fair. I said "I already paid both our fairs" It went back and forth bus driver said STOP TALKING. How much more can this get indignant and ADA violations adding up. OCTA is by far THE worst bus service in America. For one thing their posted schedules mean absolutely nothing. Drivers will take naps at the layover point in Long Beach and wake up late, then take their seewt time getting underway. I've seen 3 50s stacked up there because the drivers didn't care enough to get going. Attending regular Sunday services 6 miles away with 2 busses rarely takes less than 2 1/2 hours. Weekends are a no go. They only run every other bus for each route, making the weekend schedule even more useless than the regular one. Drivers don't care if people pay or not. I'll buy a mobile bus pass and sometimes it won't scan. The Drivers never look at the date. And when people argue that they didn't have a pass today or some other stupid thing. It's just like, fine. Come onboard. I understand if it's a regular rider and the driver recognises them and they need a day or two to get a new monthly pass. I mean, why make the rest of us pay when it clearly isn't a requirement? There's always some kind of delay because the drivers are lazy and careless. They take their sweet time loading and unloading wheelchairs, they sit there arguing with people they could just as easily kick off the bus, and make every possible excuse to NOT do the job they're paid to do. Even the shift change ritual takes upwards of 20 minutes, ON A GOOD DAY. Customer complaints are usually ignored, if they even receive them at all. OCTA is a service designed to employ people, not to actually serve the public. These busses are not supposed to get you to and from work on time, or to your doctors appointment, or whatever you need to do. The system is intentionally designed to favor private vehicles and nothing else. If you can't afford one, tough shit. Disabled? Your own fault. Knowing this I spent the last 2 hour wait updating my drivers license. Because fuck OCTA. I've never seen an agency that has so much contempt for their customers. read more

Why are most of your drivers so rude? Some of the most grouchy are the 64 drivers who get mad if you can't tell which bus is leaving first or if you get on too soon before it departs. Elderly mother 86 years old with severe heart conditions with 4 fusion in the back, sat down waiting for the bus in the cold of the morning for more than 3 hours and then there was a no show. This other incident a while back, under the same supervisor J.L., happened that luckily, because I had a tracker on my mom the would be catastrophic outcome was prevented, she was forced to get off the bus 20 min away from her home. I was told her not to get off and I talked to the very angry driver. She was on the ride back from the senior center that she attends for her depression, so she really needs to participate. This incidences made me call the supervisor for clarity and correction. J.L. tells me she has evidence that my 86 year old very fragile mother is at fault and that he is just doing as he was told. I mean, this is after I told him just picture yourself to have an elderly fragile with sever depression what would you do? How would you want people that are getting paid to help to participate in her care? Yes and he tells me again and again that it is not his job to do anything else. So I am forced to write this review and ask for help. So can someone help us please. My mother is suspended from her bus ride or 6 days the empty claim is that she did not give the ticket inn the beginning of the ride and therefore if it is given in the middle then it does not count, mind you she is with the walker lifted with the lifter of the bus with the driver's help and then the driver can ask for ticket easily right there and then or even before he onboard my mom. But no the evidence shows the unpaid in the beginning and that is the cause that she is suspended for 6 days? I mean who are these people and why are they so careless so heartless. Dr. ordered that my mom needs to go to the center so she would not fall into yet another deep depression which happens when my dad died (God rest his soul) and I need to have answers as to how does someone override the Dr's prescription over something so trivial. I write regarding the alarming rate that the Orange County Transportation Authority has been hiring or permitting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents 2 operate in or around public transit services. If these actions R indeed taking place, they R not only deeply unethical they R a blatant abuse of public trust, a misuse of taxpayer-funded infrastructure, an outright betrayal of the principles of civil service and public accountability. It is becoming increasingly obvious that many of the new employees recently hired by OCTA R acting as proxy agents 4 ICE and their conduct makes it undeniable. As a careful and observant rider, I have personally witnessed these individuals using their phones in suspicious calculated ways clearly communicating details and alerting quietly signaling what bus stops 2 watch 4 and subtly tracking individuals who appear 2 fit certain profiles. Their demeanor is not that of a typical transit personnel 4 sure they R not there 2 assist or protect the public, but 2 observe, collect intel, and surveil. Their body language, communication style, and presence betray their real role arse informants and field agents cloaked in OCTA uniforms, w/ the full support or at least, the willful ignorance of Ur administration 2 continue 2 hire them. This is definitely not paranoia this is a frequent pattern recognition and the pattern is clear arse day. OCTA has either directly collaborated w/ ICE or is knowingly enabling a quiet partnership that allows immigration enforcement 2 piggyback on a public transportation system that should B protected 4rm this kind of misuse. This kind of covert operation is not just unethical it's straight up disgusting. It turns a public service into a trap 4 thee most vulnerable and too many usual commuters I've always seen have just gone missing nobody can tell me what has happened 2 them or their whereabouts. It erodes civil liberties It strips innocent/decent riders of dignity, privacy, and the right 2 move freely in this beautiful county we call Thee OC. There is absolutely no justification 4 embedding federal immigration agents within a local transportation system. OCTA is not a law enforcement agency, and it certainly should not B acting as an extension of ICE. Turning public buses into platforms 4 surveillance, intimidation, and potential deportation is grotesque and authoritarian. It reeks of a fear-based governance, not a public service. This is not a matter of public safety. This is a matter of control, coercion, and the dehumanization of individuals who have every right 2 use public transportation without being hunted down, harassed, or monitored by federal agents. U R not protecting communities U R traumatizing them and it's evident w/ thee emptiness of seats lately. The presence of ICE within OCTA infrastructure serves no legitimate public transit function and instead weaponizes the system against the vulnerable populations. The Octa exess has been used disabled son for over 20 years,but the service is getting worse every year.My son goes adult care M-F the bus comming on time 1 or 2 times per week .I don't know why they were given time. when I call to complain a few times the AI aotomatically tells me to wait and automatically hangs up making me even angrier.It would be upsetting even for a normal person but there are many cases where disabled childeren are made to wait on the street for 30minutes to an hour . when I move or change services time it takes at least a month or a month and a half , and servere cases , I have to wait more than two months for updates . The way things are handled in the US ,where people travel to space ,is so disappointing. The ability to do things is worse than that poor country. read more

OCTA has the worst public transportation ever due to the fact that the bus drivers ignore the schedules that is given to them. They are rude and don't care if passengers make their connections. I have complained numerous about this driver on the first bus of the day on Katella intentionally slow riding the brakes and braking for the green light in order to get the red like. OCTA has done nothing to rectify the problem. On March 29th I ran on State College and Katella to catch the bus going north and I tripped and now suffering because of the negligence of OCTA refusing to rectify this problem. read more

For the past three years OCTA'S transportation has gone down. There are fewer buses running and they don't connect. Therefore, if you depend on this public transportation, you can forget about making your connection and getting to work on time. The drivers are rude and have an attitude like they're doing the passengers a favor. Also, the buses are filthy, stinky and break down often. This quarter they made changes on the schedule that is worse because this schedule makes it much more difficult to make the connection. When you miss your connection, the wait time is between 30 to 60 minutes while being forced to wait in filthy conditions. In fact, the bus stops are so filthy that mice and rats are crawling on the ground and on the bench. I've seen this and other passengers have told me the same thing. The drivers drive very slow intentionally while riding the brakes, speeding up for the red light and braking for the green light. We have made numerous complaints to the OCTA office about the poor service. However, they do absolutely nothing about this grave situation. Instead a sanitation crew arrived cleaned the stop for about 10min and when finished hung up a bus stop closed sign. A little heads up would of been nice So there I was stranded. The most ridiculous thing is abandoning your customer. Not once but twice. Standing right at Fullerton transport center for the bus but didn't stop at the spot showing up on map but it passed right through and stopped 30 steps at another spot. When I had just run to reach the rear, door closed and dashed like crazy. Tried to catch another time on Euclid but door slammed when I was right at the door. The buses are never on time, especially the line 50 going east. Since this comoany is union, OCTA don't care to correct their mistakes. The drivers allow passengers on smelling like urine, body oder and faeces. I complained about how this passenger has feeces allover him. Yet the drivers continue to let him board the bus. I have to wash my clothes almost everyday, otherwise, the house will stink. The drivers also allow the bums to board the buses without paying the bus fare. If the bums are asked to pay the fare, they argue the point and so the drivers cave and all the bums to ride for free. The drivers don't care if some of the passengers are trying to make their connections. The drivers act like it's all about the lazy bums and the heck with the passengers who are trying to get to work on time. They allow the bums to run the show and do whatever they want. It's not faire to passengers who are trying to get to their destinations. OCTA is not the bus for professional business individuals. Just to start off, I did not understand the passes right and thought I could use the Metrolink ticket as a pass. I take responsibility for that confusion. Bus driver was pretty rude when he found out I was only using the bus for a few stops rather than going to a station. He acted like I just robbed everyone on the bus and demanded I pay the $2 fare. The bus driver David, who was driving the 91 was so helpful and kind. I asked him if his bus stops at Mission Viejo lake, and he told me which bus does, and that he can take me to the stop where I can get on that bus. The 85, which is the bus he said I need to transfer to, was running a bit early so he contacted the 85 bus driver and told him that he has a transfer, if he could wait a few minutes. Very kind and helpful guy, always has a smile on his face. Have never had such great service from a bus driver before. read more

I have had to take the bus since late 2022. I enjoy riding the bus. Most of the drivers are nice and polite. They do put up with a lot of bad riders but most drivers are nice. Sometimes they are late but it could be because of traffic and picking up to many people. Wish they would keep drivers on the same routes. You get to know them and they know the riders. read more

There's zero point in "letting kids ride free", if a majority of the drivers don't know this or care, or you're still expected to use "free" busses for the kids when the passes never come in the mail. I've ordered them three times now, still no "free" passes. It's obnoxious to even need a pass for kids anyway if they are supposed to be free, it's redundant and a waste of services and paper. I've decided to apply to work for octa access! octa access has got to be a dream position! it's the only place that I know where people who consistently fail at their jobs continue to have jobs. it's not that i want to leave people stranded but i'm tired of being an exemplary employee! i'm a good driver. I also like to sleep in. working for octa access, apparently I can do both. never mind that disabled and elderly people depend on me. I mean, I'd like to help but only really when it's convenient for me. people can file formal complaints repeatedly and there's really no recourse. I can pretend to help but god forbid, they call to complain that they don't feel safe or they got stranded. I'm completely supported by my bosses when I tell them it's a shared ride. seriously, they have these devices that sound like keyboards so when people call to complain, it gives the impression that something will be done but it never is. this has got to be the best job in the fricken world for people who don't give a crap about anything! read more

I find this to be the worst bus service ever. I am not a fan of la but their bus service is so much better than Orange County. The bus drivers are very rude especially to bicyclists. I have notices on many occasions that even though there is space on the bike rack the bus drivers still drove right past the waiting bicyclist because they just did not want to stop. Bus driver got 29 at night heading north bound from garden grove st 4:49 pm nov 7 close the door ASAP wont let ppl on the bench get on there disabled ppl that cant stand and wait at the sign for the bus to pull up and refuse to let a disabled person which is ridiculous the next bus didnt show up , it show up at the same time as the one after that which is also a lil late and have to wait another 45 minutes.
