TERRIBLE! My brother is disabled and subject to using Access as transportation to his day program. The us is over an hour late nearly daily picking him up and over 2 hours late dropping him at home in the evening. He is in a wheelchair and cannot help himself. I am looking to get this resolved but all I can do at this time is to "complain" which does nothing. This is a horrible situation for him and now affecting myself. I've been using Access for 11 years and most of the time things go well, however there are phases where my drivers are an hour late past the end of my window and I hate having to deal with connecting to a supervisor because they never call me back unless I keep bugging them or tell the operator to make sure they call me back because they never do. The supervisors claim they have so many inquiries and that could be true but don't leave some of us hanging. I have had complaints that supervisors have never called me back for and it's so irritating! I believe the supervisors are very lazy at their jobs. Call your clients back! read more

I use OC Access bus for Dr. appointments on a pretty regular basis, and more often than not they are late picking me up which in turn makes me late to my appointment. I have been using their service for about 3 years now. I scheduled a ride for 2pm to arrive to my destination at my check in time of 2:45 for my 3pm appointment. I called my dr to let them know that I may be what I thought at the time would be a few minutes late. The driver inquired to disbatch if he could drop me off so I could be on time to my appt. He was told that he could not. We proceeded to pick up 4 other passengers before dropping me off which added an additional hour to my trip. I was dropped at 4pm. Due to this I missed my return trip and had to arrange alternative transportation. read more

There are drivers who work here at OCTA who don't give a crap about doing their jobs because they know there are no consequences for failing to properly do their jobs. Filing a formal complaint is worthless since nothing ever gets done and no disciplinary actions are ever taken even when there are multiple witnesses of the bad, discriminatory actions and misbehaviors by the drivers. Both the daycare center that my mother attends and I filed a complaint on 02/24/25 for a horrible driver who showed up at the center and was scheduled to pick up my mother to drive her home. However, after a staff worker paid the driver the bus fair, he took off with the money while the staffer was wheeling her out on her wheelchair. He saw my mother but never put the lift down for her and even drove off after seeing that she was in a wheelchair. According to the witnesses including the center's staff worker and security guard, there were no delays taken by the center as this was clearly a plain and simple act of discrimination by the OCTA driver who took the payment and drove off without fulfilling the service that OCTA was just paid for because my my mother was in a wheelchair. After both the center and I filed a formal complaint of this egregious action by the driver, OCTA took no action on their part and even lied about the incident telling a completely different story as to what actually happened that day. The ridiculous and incompetent OCTA supervisor who I spoke with was refused to acknowledge the facts and what had actually happened that day explained by several witnesses at the scene and the outright discriminatory actions that were taken by the OCTA driver (vehicle # 8730). Apparently, based on the other reviews, it is clearly a systemic problem with this company. Avoid using this service if you can unless someone higher up is willing to clean up the terrible corruption within the company. read more

We have used the Access bus twice now, we are a couple of wheelchair people and 2 that are able to walk. The drivers are very nice and helpful, kind and they joke about. They are easy to communicate with and just so amazing. Can't say enough about the service and we look forward to using them every few weeks for our outings with the elderly. read more

With the pendamic going on , OCTA Access is still operating to assist those that needed the service. Social distancing is being practice, sanitizer and mask in at all time. they are always very late or very early. They never know where they are going and act like it's their first time driving a bus even though it's literally their JOB. I thought it's supposed to be convenient especially since it is supposed to make traveling easily for disabled people. They do such a shitty job and people are going to be late to their jobs and lose their jobs because sometimes they have showed up a fucking hour late or way too early where I'm not even there. Orange County Transportation Authority, OCTA, has a service called Access. This is a service that serves people with disabilities at ALL ages. The staff here is very nice and friendly. They are very helpful! The waiting room is so cool! A huge bus is placed right in the middle of the office. Lots of paintings on the wall that makes it feel like you stepped outside! This location is where the evaluation takes place to see if you qualify for Access Service which is door to door shared public transportation. It's a process to apply here: Call for an appointment. Go to your appointment for an evaluation. You have to bring your ID. Signed consents for them to evaluate and take a photo of you. They ask a series of questions they will ask to see if you qualify. You wait for 2-3 weeks for confirmation if you qualified. I don't know what qualifies a person for access. I think they were looking for something that hinders the person not able to do take public transportation that needs door to door service. read more

Obviously if you're scheduling a ride to be picked up good luck being crammed in the vehicle while others are being dropped off before your turn leaving you to make it on time for your destination whether if its school, work, or an appointment. If you schedule a time to be picked up they'll arrive too early or late which could leave you in an awkward position. Made me wish I had my drivers license already. Rude receptionists and drivers, some routes are unavailable including Saturdays. read more

I have used access for years and yes once in awhile things happen. For the most part I get to where I need to be andback without trouble. And for cheap. To the girl who complained by only using bad words or spelling them wrong. Here's some advice, buy a car or take Uber or Lyft. You are receiving a public service from a public servant say thank you instead of talking bad about them. OC Bus comes to my street every morning at 7:30am, stops in front of a home that is vacant. I told the drivers that there is no one live there, I called the OC access and reported the problem, all they said was they will investigate, the drivers did not pick up anyone from that home, is that enough proof that no one lives there? One bus driver even said someone is doing that to make money! Does anyone try to make up a ride to scan money from Orange County? The OC access also said that the only way the bus will stop coming to that home is if the person who order the rides call, I asked her to enter the address on their database to find out who that person is and call her, but they refused to do that. Every day, OC assess is wasting money on gas coming here, making big noise on the quiet street 7:30 in the morning. read more

For the most significant factor at least Access is available. I give them an 80 %. 3 times I have had them go pick me up at my destination. 2 times they have shoed up and left in less than 3 minutes. Twice have called me a no show as Im on the curve waiting. Gotten the day wrong on my scheduled pick up. A few times passed by my drop off to have me go with them to go back the other way....to where we just came from to be dropped off. Have waited for Same day taxi many times over an hour and a half. Once waited 3 hrs on a Friday afternoon for same day taxi . This past week I went to the Dr. In Brea on Access, they came back to pick me up take me to work by JWA-SNA. We went to Cerritos to pick up another passenger....bus driver tells me it's a shared ride Program . I was telling him he could have been considerate and tell me I was going to Cerritos. He also told me many of his passengers are on his bus for over 2 hrs at a time. Mostly not that bad read more

I've been using OCTA Access for about 5 years. The majority of the drivers are good and care for you and your safety. Access has a few negatives. 1-Some drivers are lazy and shouldn't be in this line of work 2- They don't call you if they are going to be outside the 30-minute window. I've had to wait close to 2 hours outside my 30-minute window. 3-They contract a taxi service to do the overflow. To be honest, it's hit-and-miss with the Taxi service. The good thing about the Taxis. They will wait for you if they are outside the 5 minutes. The access buses usually will not! The GM is Chris for the Taxis. Chris doesn't return calls. That should tell you something there. Laura was the GM for OCTA Access. She was great at returning calls. In my opinion, she cares! She returns my calls still. That's great customer service. The new GM for Access is John, he doesn't return calls. I've left John 4 messages. I still haven't received a call from him. Terrible customer service! As a customer, we are held accountable for being at our location on time. As I mentioned. Access gives us a 30-minute window. The driver will only wait for 5 minutes. If we are not there. They will leave. Unfortunately, GM John doesn't hold his drivers accountable. But we are! If you're not in a rush to get somewhere. Access is your answer. I wish John's boss would call me! Some of the drivers and dispatch needs to be held accountable! Since we are!! read more

While I appreciate the ACCESS program, today was an absolute low point. My return trip window was 10:20-10:50. I was waiting *outside* by 10:00 a.m. I called at 10:50 a.m. to check on my ride, only to be told that I was marked as a "no-show"! They won't give a specific time for a replacement ride so one of the Ralph's employees was kind enough to escort me across the street so I could get home safely on my scooter. I filed a complaint, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Thanks for letting me vent. read more

This happened in 1999, but it may not be out of date considering the complaints on this page. I had my arm in a sling due to surgery, and could not drive. I was also new to the area where I live, where bus service is really poor, and there was no one available to take me to my doctor's appointment 13 miles away. Access or whatever it was called then would not provide service to me because they said I did not qualify. read more

I called today to schedule a ride for tomorrow , I ordered my ride they took down the times for pick up & returned home I called my doctor office to see when I could come in she said she had a appointment for 230pm the same day so I called back access to add the next ride I just wanted to be picked up at my first pick up then taken to my doctor office instead of going home the lady who answered the phone was rude wouldn't listen to me I tried to tell her the time I wanted to add on she yelled at me give me a minute I said sure take your time I know it takes time to get in the computer she yelled at me again said I'm not listening to her I said no mama your not listening to me I'm just trying to add on to my ride see then said wait I'm going to get someone else to help you she puts the phone on hold a gentleman answered I gave him the time I wanted to add on he didn't have a problem talking my pick up time & drop off I told him I don't know what I said to that lady that pissed her off he just laughed , I have some late pick up times & drop off in the past but I love having access it gets to the places I want to go but that lady was no customer service at all read more

We had an appointment at 10:15 am for my elderly dad to be seen. A soon as we arrived on time, I asked how long it would take for the process and immediately she got defensive and said you have to wait. I explained that my dad is in wheelchair and can't walk and has back pain but she did not care. So we waited and waited for over an hour and fifteen minutes and after I kept telling her that he is in pain she finally took him! Not only that, there was the interview process too! Which the same thing happened and they made him wait even longer and in more pain. They don't care and they are very inconsiderate of elderly people and they don't care if you have an appointment or not. Rude people and work slow and don't care if people are in pain. They need to be trained properly and work more efficiently to process people. They need to have consideration for elderly and people that have appointments should be priority. It should not take 1 and half hours!!!! read more
