That first visit was awesome! We loved the oysters so much we got a second order. We went back a few times but as the week progressed it got more and more crowded and became impossible to find a seat. We did manage to get one more seating at the bar and had oysters but after that it was get a drink and stand somewhere. We ended up using the residence bar but they didn't serve food so we had limited options at the hotel, which was sort of disappointing. What we had and service was generally good. We had a server at one point that walked past us 12 times when we had completely employ plates and drinks and she didn't stop to check on us at all. When I waited tables I would constantly watch my tables every time I walked past and unfortunately she was not observant so I had to flag her down, which is cringy to me. Anyway, for the most part we had a great experience so would definitely visit again.

The Mint Restaurant is located in the basement of a 5-star hotel, and the bar itself truly is a lovely and unique space. First and foremost, it is a beautiful place--warm lighting, elegant décor, and a sophisticated atmosphere that immediately sets high expectations. Unfortunately, almost everything that followed fell far short of what a 5-star experience should be. From the start, service was certainly not 5-star. It took nearly 5 minutes just to be acknowledged at the entrance, and then 25 more minutes before a server came by with water and basic greetings. The staff overall felt indifferent and disengaged--very disappointing for a place that appears to pride itself on luxury. One of the bright spots of the night was the live music. The piano player was genuinely excellent, a real talent and a pleasant surprise. That said, the room itself was extremely noisy--perhaps due to the architecture or acoustics--making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. The sound bounced around so much that the music, while wonderful, added to the overall loudness rather than enhancing the ambiance. On the positive side, the cocktails were lovely. We ordered the Paloma and the Pisco Sour, and both were beautifully prepared. We actually would have stayed longer and ordered more if the service had been even remotely attentive. The menu is extremely limited--no real food options of substance. My wife ordered three appetizers and asked to receive one first and the other two when my main course arrived. Instead, all plates were brought out at once, completely ignoring the request. A not so funny part is that I ordered a Caesar Salad without croutons and they brought it with extra croutons. I didn't return the plate because the server never returned to the table to check on us and because, "you know what they say regarding returning food to the kitchen"...... I ordered the lamb chops, and for some inexplicable reason, the kitchen (or the runner) divided the dish into two plates, serving half to my wife and half to me. I ended up eating both portions anyway, but the whole situation felt strange and unprofessional. Worse yet, the lamb chops were hard, not tasty, poorly presented, and not warm. My best guess is that the food sat in the kitchen too long before being brought out. For the quality delivered, the experience was very expensive for mediocre food, and nowhere near the standard suggested by the setting or the hotel it belongs to. Overall, this was a very bad experience, and I truly cannot recommend it, especially when Dublin offers so many fantastic dining and cocktail options that deliver far better service, food, and value.

I reckon it's the former because the only reason to have turned people away would have been if the club was full and surely they would have just explained that. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both.
