The first pane of the comic along the wall. Visit to see the others!

My favorite coffee shop in Kansas, Octagon City Coffee makes me wish there were an octagonal coffee shop closer to home. I arrived, hot and dehydrated, on a 93-degree September day on the bike trail, and was delighted to find this oasis. At around 2:30 PM, it wasn't especially busy, but the employee working there was friendly and efficient, making a delicious and cold mango smoothie. The interior is bright and cheerful, and what especially stood out was the extended comic describing the tragic history of Humboldt's first settlement, the Octagon City. I've never seen a coffee shop do such a good job of sharing the local history, and had plenty of time to read and learn as I enjoyed the smoothie and attempted to avoid brainfreeze. The merchantile area next door also had a variety of interesting products, including Kansas T-shirts. I likely would have bought something, but for one of the few downsides - the credit card terminal was having connectivity issues. Whether this is a common issue, I'm not sure, but just in case you may want to bring more than the $8 in cash that I had when I arrived. Traffic was picking up around the time I left to head back north, some time after 3, with the after-school crowd arriving. The only other slight caveat is that despite its name, neither Octagon City Coffee nor the adjacent town square are, in fact, octagonal in their dimensions. But I've only seen one octagonal town square in my life, and everything else is great, so I think that can be overlooked.

One of my regular stops in Humboldt! Jump in the Southwind Bike/Hike/Running Trail in Iola and follow it to Humboldt. You will be ready for a little something by the time you get there. Njoy a coffee and some friendly conversation with the Barista. Check out local vendors items. Grab a seat in the front window to watch small town America in action. Humboldt has a charm you should experience again and again!

Neat place in small town America. Great selection of Kansas gifts and nicnaks for a coffee shop. My wife ordered a peppermint latte and I ordered a mocha latte. I don't usually enjoy peppermint drinks as the flavor is usually too intense. Both drinks had a nice balance of flavor. If any constructive feedback... my wife's drink could have been hotter. 5 Stars for flavor, customer service of the young gentleman, refillable cold brew bottles, and time from order to completion. We'll be back!

This is a great little store and coffee shop. Not too far from the Base Camp bike park and Prairie Spirit Trail.

Wait and wait. I finally had to ask someone where our waitress was. She finally shows up. Takes our order. Brings drinks. Had to ask for straws. Didn't come back with refills. Had to ask. Showed up with meal. Had to ask twice for ketchup. Green beans didn't come with meal. Had to wait for those. Waitress was busy talking to table next to us. Then she goes behind counter and starts talking to 2 men. I waved my hands at her to get her attention and she rolled her eyes at me! So much so the 2 guys turned around and looked at me. I asked her why she was so angry. She of course denied it. I needed 2 drinks to go, pie to go, box and the check. She was horrid. Super bad attitude. And the place was only about half full so not that busy. The food is good but we've noticed a drop in service. I shouldn't have to track down the waitress and have her get an attitude when we need things. We still gave her a tip but she really deserved none. Makes me reconsider not going back. We eat out a lot and her demeanor for a server was inexcusable. Find a new line of work.

First for 8 bucks, the sandwich had barely any salad in it. did not come with tomato or lettuce and no cheese? However, the staff is awesome and friendly and makes up for the weak sandwiches. I want to show this place how to make an awesome sandwich!
