The staff is top-tier, the snacks are abundant and varied (I stock up and fill my purse!), there is plenty of seating, comfy chairs, and of course, every platelet chair is hooked up so you can watch Netflix while you sit still and help save lives! Before I had to switch jobs last November and now no longer work in a hybrid role, I was here at least once a month. The staff all know me by name and after coming back after a 6 month absence, I was welcomed back with open arms!! Love it here!

You can find the donation times online for blood, platelets and plasma. Once you are signed up they will send you reminders and the day of the donation you can do the Rapid Pass to save you time when you come in. Located on Euclid Ave. you get buzzed into the parking area, sign in to the building and then go to the donation area. The check in process is well run and efficient. Since they limit the number of appointments at a time there is no waiting around like you may encounter at some of the blood drives. The plasma donation works by taking your whole blood and then returning the platelets to you, so it takes about 1 hour from start to finish. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. They take very good care of you and make sure that you are OK throughout the whole process. After you finish there is a nicely stocked snack area to get some sweets and beverages. Red Cross also offers some bonuses such as T-shirts, hats and gift cards at various times during the year. If you are looking for a great way to help others consider making regular Red Cross Blood, Platelets or Plasma donations. It is a great way to give of yourself.

Even if the place is empty it still will be a long wait. They pay 50 and then 70 if you donate twice in the same week but they may have to be closed randomly so sometimes you don't even get to make a second donation. The staff can be rude,they can make it extremely uncomfortable while you're strapped into the machine. They can also be very passive aggressive and do not like to be rushed or asked questions. Expect to leave feeling like a worthless person when you're done being juiced. Also they will not give you a drink unless you have an allergic reaction which is ridiculous .

I would say I was there a total of three hours, only because the first visit you have to go through a lengthy questionnaire, as well as a quick physical (they prick your finger to check protein and iron levels). The actual time spent from getting the needle in your arm to the time they took it out was about 45 minutes. Afterwards, they have you sit down for about 10 to 15 minutes to make sure you aren't feeling light headed or dizzy (which I wasn't). I got my prepaid card which I can use pretty much like a regular debit card. The only drawback is that it can't be used for getting gas at the pump, you have to go inside. No biggie. They are running a promotion where you get $900 after 8 donations and it has to be within a 45 day period. You can donate maximum 2 times a week and the donations have to be at least 2 days apart. So if you donate on a Monday, then the earliest you can donate again would be that Wednesday. I'm gonna do the first 8 donations and see how I feel about it. I don't know how much it pays after the initial 8, I'll ask next time I go in.

I've honestly never had such a smooth and friendly experience donating blood before now. Th Red Cross staff are professional, patient and thorough. They made me feel comfortable from the instant I arrived for my appointment. They are also very organized and everything is clean and safely distanced. I will definitely continue to go to Red Cross as I continue to donate blood a few times a year. They also have a super easy-to-use app that keeps you updated and has your donor card for easy access.
