After nearly three weeks of back-and-forth communication, they finally were going to come out on March 13 and picked up only two items--a sideboard and a rug. To my surprise, after our conversation with the driver on his way, they then declined the rug. I decided to tell him not to even come, and I would not be doing business with them and that their business structure was extremely unprofessional and excruciatingly painful to deal with. During prior communication, they asked what price I hoped to get for the rug. I suggested $800 for a $3000 rug as a starting point, fully acknowledging that I did not expect to recover what I originally paid. I specifically asked for their professional input since this is their business and they know the resale market. Instead of providing guidance, I was simply told my price "wasn't their happy price." That was the extent of the explanation. The entire process was unnecessarily frustrating. Communication is routed through a receptionist who acts as a gatekeeper, making it impossible to speak directly with the person actually making the consignment decisions. Everything is filtered through short emails or secondhand messages, which creates confusion and delays. For a business that relies on consignors bringing them quality merchandise, the lack of transparency, poor communication, and inefficient process is surprising. Clearing out an estate is already difficult, and this experience only made it more frustrating. I would not recommend working with this company. Their communication structure and overall business approach are not consumer-friendly.
