I don't know why it took me so long to crawl in here. Very active and festive servers. Friday night happy hour might have something to do with it. I had a couple old fashioneds and I ordered the onion rings and the buffalo chicken flatbread with bacon. The onion rings seemed a little under done. What a gem! We were recommended this place by a local gal at a coffee shop. The burger was juicy and delicious on a brioche bun, yummy fries and the wings were fantastic and flavorful. We got the hot wings and there was plenty of sauce to spare for these fall off the bone drumsticks. Great server crew, friendly and starts the table off with a popcorn snack. The OTE! Delicious pub foods at great prices. They have daily specials, including soups, and finger licking good wings. The servers are awesome and attentive. The ambiance is rustic pub and very comforting. In good weather you can eat on the front porch and enjoy the Oxford hubbub. I'm a breakfast regular Sunday mornings and gathering with friends on the porch is a great way to start a day of worship. It's a quiet treasure. Oh, I forgot to mention the entertainment. Live bands and performers, comedy shows, theme nights, and weekly trivia contests. It is NOT a boring, ordinary, or typical watering hole, although they do have a beautiful bar and skilled bartenders. I've been coming to this restaurant on and off for years! It's a great location in downtown Oxford! There's a parking garage right behind the building which makes parking a breeze. They have tables and bar service, I love the old bar and how many drinks and beers they carry. The portions are generous and the price is very reasonable. The service is always kind and fast! They also have pool tables to play and good music! Very clean and cozy, definitely worth a stop in! Only reason I didn't give it a five was because the last time we were in the new cook overcooked all of our food, so hoping just a learning curve. read more

Update from my 2017 review: The burgers are great. Hand prepared meat cooked to order. The Union 21 burger with Taylor Ham and cheese has returned. My favorite. Still no web site but they are on Fb. The excessively loud stereo has been quieted. The menu is rather limited to burgers, wraps, a few salads, and bar food. I have visited several times since the reopening. The quality of the food has improved. On a weeknight there has been plenty of seating for meals. read more

We normally go to the restaurant/bar across the street (Sawmill Grill) but my wife was curious so we gave this place a shot...in this case curiosity killed the cat. We started with mussels which were ok, but pretty tasteless compared to others I've had. Then we had their special "The All American Burger" which I renamed "The All Went to Hell Burger". The burger was ordered medium rare and arrived medium well, it was tasteless with no seasoning to speak of and all the natural flavor cooked out of it, I literally took two bites of it. The waitress offered to bag it and I said, it's flavorless and overcooked, I'd never eat that. I got an "I'm sorry" and handed the check. The beer was good, but I can get a good bottle of Belgium beer many places that will actually cook food to order and make taste good. Fair to say we will never be back. read more

This place is awesome! It is so laid back and the food is so good. It is very clean and the staff is extremely nice. On Friday nights I don't want to travel to eat and it is so nice having this close by. The curly fries are awesome! I had wings last time and they were awesome. Four of us had burgers this time around and they were awesome. The patty was not dry and had great flavor. The management gave us mussels for free and they were fantastic, I'm not big into seafood but these were cooked great with a great butter garlic sauce. read more

We recently had a wedding rehearsal dinner here. The food was outstanding. We had hot roast beef, Chicken Parmigiana and Spinach Ravioli with mashed potatoes green beans and roasted vegetables. Went to the "ote" lastnight for 80's night and was disappointed. My burger was over cooked my waitress wasn't attending to us had an empty beer for 10mins. My wife had a cocktail and it wasn't made right. This used to be our spot they have amazing wings! But lately business has not been good which unfortunately sucks because it used to be a great place! Meandered in on Saturday afternoon bar was quiet as was restaurant. We bellied up to Stephanie who full of smiles and attentive. They have a decent selection of local beers that were plentiful and cold. Enjoyed watching Ted and his gang get acclimated and set up for Saturday night. He was very personable,funny and backed our choice of chicken wings and onion rings as it was national onion ring day. Both were cooked to perfection and delicious. Pop corn is a bonus! Popped in with a friend for a quick drink after dinner. A lot of smoke around the doorway with the 20 somethings, but no big deal. Went in and found a seat at the bar. I was carded, which I haven't been in years, again, no big deal. New business reopening with a lot of money invested. It makes sense. My friend also ordered a beer. Her license was expired but she had the necessary paperwork with her for a temporary license, which is valid. They refused to give her a beer. Mind you, we are both 40 years old. I found it amusing as I walked out through a sea of youngsters playing pool. Sorry, won't be doing business here. When your staff is younger than you and refuses your service, I see where your clientele is geared. I bet Saw Mill would serve us. read more

Stopped in for our first visit for lunch. Started with Loaded Boardwalk fries that had jalapenos as one of the toppings. Really tasty! My husband had a Beef Barbecue Brisket which he said was delicious and I had steamed shrimp steamed to perfection and served with a restaurant made seafood sauce that was fabulous. Nice café/pub style restaurant. Very Clean. And Stephanie was the best! Also, discovered that they doing a Sunday Brunch. We will definitely be going back and taking the family and friends. Excited to see the Octoraro Tavern reopen after a 2014 fire, hubby and I stopped in for a bite and a few adult beverages last night (Sat.). My first impression was, wow, fabulous job on the interior! Big step up from its former "divey" look and vibe. My second impression, after seeing the price list for bottled beer which STARTED at $3.50 for each 12oz domestic favorite (Bud, Coors, Yuengling, Michelob, ect.) was, wow, do I get a side of wallet lube with that!!! Hopefully, when the tap is eventually set up, draft beer will be more reasonably priced. As for food, I ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap which was exceptionally delicious and the portion big enough that I brought half home! Hubby had the cheese steak and though he liked it very much, the roll was the soft "midwest" variety rather than the chewy "south philly" type I would have prefered. The sides of sweet potato fries, which we both ordered, were cold (as in not even even remotely warm). We would have liked to have stayed for a few rounds of pool but with those beer prices, and the night still being young, we chose to take our thirsty selves elsewhere. read more

Have been twice since they re-opened. The first time it was First Friday in town so they were very busy. While my kids played pool I ordered food and drinks. Drinks came quickly but the kids actually finished their game (first time they had ever played..so you know it wasn't fast) before our food finally arrived. Plus, I had to flag down someone three times before they would even take our order. Food was very good (see note on fries though), and after I spoke to our waitress that we had waited almost 45 minutes for our food, they comped the entire meal, which was very professional. The second time the service was great, food excellent (they do have the best burgers in town, large, fresh, and cooked great) and will be going again. Recommend staying away from the fresh cut fries as they were limp and greasy. Curly fries were very good. read more
