We usually stop at this casino after our family reunion up in Boyne city. It is nicely located in the Petoskey area. The service and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Just got done eating at the deli. Food is overpriced and dried out! I ordered a hamburger. It comes without condiments. (They don't tell you that). When I asked for condiments you would have thought I was asking the girl for her first born child! A little friendliness goes a long way. You won't find it from the staff at Odawa! if your at a rock concert aka "Warrent" why is it a crime to get up and rock. they acted like we were in a nazi camp. "Get in your seat and sit down" security told anyone who got out of their seat. But yet, those same security people got out their cell phones and stood at the same roped off areas and took video and pictures of the rock band. Professionalism at its finest. Also when you paid for tickets, there were 40 dollar and 30 dollar tickets available. When you went in line, tickets wouldn't scan, so why did I spend 40 dollars for 4 people where it made no difference where we sat at. This blows my mind. This small town casino had great customer service from the person checking IDs to the bartenders and concession attendants. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. The ventilation here wasn't too bad although the cigarette smoke in some parts of the casino were more noticeable than in others. They had a $2 cocktail special for one of their house vodkas which we took advantage of, and the food at the Copper restaurant was also priced fairly priced. It's owned and operated by the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. It's been around for a few years, about 2007. They have a large gaming floor with a mix of computerized slots, blackjack, etc. They have a players club program, where you can earn points for the more you pay and play. They have games that range from penny slots to high roller games. You do have to be 19 years of age to gamble inside the casino. In addition to the game floor, they have several clubs and lounges and a large buffet restaurant. Drinks are cheap, but good - and soda is made available for free, with self-serve soda machines (excuse me, we're in Michigan, it's "pop") throughout the gaming floor area. The air inside Odawa is much cleaner compared to other casinos where the cigarette smoke is much thicker. read more

Operationally, this place seems to be doing a much better job with the table games. Have had much better experiences in my return visits since my original review. The dealers are all generally pleasant and do a good job to make the place fun, even if you're not doing so hot. We enjoy coming here and the size of the place really gives it a homey atmosphere. This place has always been hit or miss with me, and mostly miss. While some of the staff is as friendly has you could ever want, most act as if I don't exist. It takes a very long time to get a drink at the circle bar, and most dealers are between silent and down right rude. I always feel as if the dealers and pit bosses think I am cheating. Not very welcoming. The slots are some of the tightest I have ever played. I lose my money so fast, I usually just end up leaving before I play all the money I brought with me to entertain myself. Funny how this works. If the machines would just let me play a little bit, I would end up staying longer, and the casino would make more money off of me. They miss this point badly here. The hotel rooms I have stayed in are generally clean, but the smell of cigarettes hangs in the air. I really enjoy the Sunday brunch buffet, but this could use improvement. Only one type of bread is typically available for toast, for example, and it is usually stale. The egg station depends on who is cooking, some are better than others. They have a nice pizza oven, but it seems empty most of the time and last night's pizza is put out. The handful of really nice staffers is what keeps me from rating this a one-star. I'll keep going to the Sunday brunch from time to time, but I have played my last table game or slot machine here. read more

every machine in the place sticks. you have to press buttons multiple times. my husband sat down at a machine. maximum bet is automatically on the screen. he tried to change the bet but the machine wouldn't let him. he tried to cash out, but that button wouldn't work either. he hit the yes button hard and accidentally cracked the plastic. they made us feel like criminals by calling the police. we ended up giving them 1300 for repairs for a machine that should have been fixed to begin with. don't go to this casino! read more

Updated Jan 2018 Went to the casino for New Years and was quite disappointed in how much it was for the buffet $25 pp and the food was not very good at all. In years past, they had entertainment for New Years (bands, impersonators, etc) they had a DJ in middle of casino and it just wasn't as much fun-in fact we ended up leaving before midnight. The entertainment as far as concerts, comedians etc has really went down in the last few years too. Great casino to gamble at =) The Waas no de buffet inside the casino is so good-(go on Saturday Night they have prime rib and it is less than $20 for an adult) the fish is also highly recommended and desserts are amazing! There is a nightclub called the O-Zone that some of the 21+ crowd hangs out at. I have personally been to a couple of the concerts that the Casino has held and they were great =D read more

I remember when slot machines used to let you play for awhile before it took your money. My wife and I were down $100 after playing for about 12 minutes. Doubt we will be back. We came to the Odawa Casino due to their NYE party they were hosting. My husband and his friend were hired as impersonators for the night. We went to the casino the day before the gig to check the place out. Just a note you only have to be 19 to enter the casino. Our group was in our late 20's/early 30's and we were not carded for admission. A very pretty building with ample parking and a shuttle service. Lots of stone work and colorful lights. They did a great job advertising the NYE party as well. The inside is nice and spacious, not overwhelming huge to where you get lost, but still large enough to where you don't feel like you are in one big room. There was a gift shop, coat check, buffet area, quick place to order sandwiches and other food items, restaurant within the casino, two bars for over 21 (the one is in the middle of the gaming floor and not roped off and the other is across the buffet area and seemed like a club like atmosphere with a rope off and a bouncer manning the entrance), high rollers areas, and a banquet room. They also had a station to get pop/water. Overall lots of amenities and the obvious slot machines were everywhere. The day before the NYE gig (12/30) was not packed at all, it was very easy to walk around the gaming floor and not see anyone. We went to the middle bar area and asked the staff to put on a college basketball game and they were more than accommodating with putting it on. The drink prices as well were fair and cheaper than most (especially coming from the Metro Detroit area). The next day we went was for the NYE party/gig. Like I said before they decorated for the occasion and the place had stars as the party was called, A Night with the Stars. The casino was very packed with people everywhere, I think I heard from one of the workers that this is one of their busiest nights and I can see why. The casino did a nice job from the VIP dinner they put on for the night as well as the all night long entertainment with a live band. The casino passed out fun NYE hats and whistles to ring in the new year. From what my husband and friend told me the staff in regards to being a part of the entertainment, they were great to them and accommodating. In regards to winnings - our one friend got over $100 in a slot machine, so that was a nice plus! We also got food from the sandwich shop area after the gig (it was around 1:00am by this time). The place was still rocking and a line for ordering. We decided on pre-made sandwiches which were not bad and filled us up. The buffet after midnight then switches to breakfast. The only bad thing I noticed was that the hotel wasn't connected to the casino. They are quite far away from one another and not even within walking distance. Hopefully soon they will build a new casino that is connected? A pro was that both nights I was there I didn't smell like an ash tray. read more

Let's start off with this. The hotel and casino are about a mile away, so my advice would be be to find a cheaper hotel. The casino shuttles go to all the hotels Secondly, do not get the dinner buffet! It's honestly the worst buffet that I and the 5 others in my group have ever had! The ONLY reason I give it two stars is cause the few black jack dealers I played with were very pleasant and the rest of the staff was awesome ! The very worst possible customer service nightmare from start to finish. Had a significant billing error. Hotel staff were rude, unapologetic and actually threw my bill down when I asked to speak to Assistant Manager. Issue still not resolved. Initially, the Manager called me back and was apologetic and very nice however when the following day my account still didn't reflect the credits he argued with me, was rude, cut me short, sighed and provided me with terrible customer service. I now see why his staff treated me the way they did....employees are only as good as the leader. I would recommend NEVER to stay there. Actually, I will never set foot in the casino or resort. However I got e-mail notice of a presale for a concert (because I was an awards member) I would have loved to have attended. When I called the box office, I was told, I had to come to the box office to get them. I stated I lived over 3 hours away and it was a long trip just to get tickets. The attitude was "Oh Well" So I didn't attend the concert, stay at the hotel. eat at the restaurant or gamble. What a way to treat a loyal customer.
