We had a sitting room, king-sized bed, and whirlpool. Our private deck provided a view of Lake Huron. We only stayed one night so we only got to enjoy one breakfast. We had sausage, cheesy potatoes, fresh fruit and a cinnamon roll. It was wonderful. Seating is between 8-9:30am. A self-serve coffee/tea bar is available 24/7. As an added bonus, they serve dessert from 7-8pm nightly. We got to enjoy that one night as well. Dessert was a chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and caramel. Omg, it was so good. We really should have spilt one as they were huge. The place was in a great location. It was a short walk to the Mackinac Island ferry. We walked to a dinner spot. All the shops were only a short walk away. We got there early (before our room was ready) and they allowed us to park in their lot so we didn't have to pay for parking in the ferry lot. Finally, the staff was absolutely wonderful. So helpful. So welcoming. Whatever you needed, they were there for you. The place is spotless. The food is amazing. So glad we stayed.

When I called to finalize our booking, my wife had already spoken to someone named Rose. I called back so we could both speak with her and go over a few questions before booking the room. The woman on the phone Rose was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. She explained everything clearly: when meals were served, how we could get our luggage to the hotel, and what to expect during our stay. She made such a good impression over the phone that we were really excited to stay there. Since there weren't any porters available when we arrived, we walked our bags to the hotel. It wasn't a far walk, and once we got there, we were greeted by Rose at the front desk. She checked us in, asked how many keys we wanted, and directed us to our room. The room was clean and looked just like it did online. It's an older property, so we weren't expecting a 5 start hotel, and that was fine with us. However, the first night I noticed a small spider on the bed. I didn't think much of it at first, old building, things happens. But every night after that and even during the day, I had to kill spiders. This went on every single day of our 3-night stay. My wife was terrified because she doesn't like bugs, especially ones crawling around the room. That alone made it hard for her to relax. The bed was a king, but the pillows were queen-sized and not good at all. We both left with sore necks. By the last night, we were just ready to go. Here's a quick breakdown of the pros and cons: Pros: * Great location--close to shops, restaurants, and local spots. * The staff--Rose, Norman, and everyone we encountered were incredibly welcoming and helpful. * Master Suites are spacious, and they provide plenty of towels. * Room service is available for fresh linens. * Breakfast was good, two out of the three mornings were great. * Master suites have large jetted tubs with a nice view, which is nice. Cons: * Spiders were everywhere--inside the room, around the stairwells, and all over the balcony. * The balcony was unusable because of the number of small flies and spiders outside. * The showerhead had poor pressure and didn't spray evenly. * Furniture felt old and fragile, definitely due for an update. * Pillows were uncomfortable and left us sore. * The property, while good in its age, is overpriced for how old and worn-down it is. You're not getting your money's worth in terms of comfort or amenities. If I were rating our stay based on service alone, this would be a solid 5-star review. The staff truly went above and beyond. But when adding in the condition of the property and the overall comfort of the stay, I have to give it 3 stars. The negatives outweighed the positives, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.

I've been to Mackinac twice before, the most recent July 2023. I felt familiar and comfortable making our arrangements. I'm so glad I chose Cloghaun B&B. The location put us conveniently close to the places we wanted to experience (Grand Hotel, Jack's Livery, the Fort, restaurants, etc). We had a lovely room (Anna). Each morning the breakfast was delicious and interesting. Thank you to Clover and Carlene (spelling?) for being gracious and welcoming. If I'm lucky enough to return, I would stay no where else.

BEWARE THE FOURTH FLOOR…read more The 1852 Grill Room was wonderful, the hotel is beautiful from the outside, the staff is fine - but the pictures they post of the bedrooms are NOT the bedrooms you will be staying in, especially on the fourth floor. I knew the room would be small but the pictures of my room were incredibly misleading and most importantly NOT the room me and my wife saw. The bathroom in the online photos had a glass door shower, our room had a dinky plastic liner. THE ROOF IS CONCRETE POPCORN AND VIOLENTLY SLANTED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE SLEEPING BED. It was physically difficult to get in and out of the bed, forcing any adult person (I'm only 5'7") to squat and crawl in and out of the bed. If I sat up in the middle of the night, I would literally would have been hospitalized from this idiotic ceiling/bed placement. Pics to prove it. Overall, our trip to Mackinac Island was wonderful but this hotel room was the worst part of it and the worst $800+ I have ever spent.
