This place is huge! There is a hospital for dancer inside and some toys and books for kids to kill time. I was having contemporary beginner class with Kristin. It was like 30 students in one class but Kristin separated us into two group so everyone had time and space to explore those choreography. She usually teach same choreography 3 weeks in a roll. I was having fun and great time with her. She is very enthusiastic and patient. This was my first contemporary experience but I definitely will come back for more. Ps. They have two buildings, one is theater and one is for class.

Ask me where to go for the best cocktails in the city, I'll say: "Bourbon and Branch" Ask me where to go for the best pork chop in town, I'll say: "nopa" My girlfriend, who's been single the last 3 months, asked me this question: "Where's the best place to meet guys?" Me: " ....... " I absolutely have NO clue. I've been in a committed relationship for the past 5 years and frankly speaking, I'm not the most qualified person to ask this question to. I shrugged my shoulders and threw out the usual suggestions: have you tried bars? match.com? your neighbors' brother's cousin?? One Saturday morning after ballet class at ODC, I was hanging out in the common room and guess what I noticed?! GUYS! Lots of 'em. They're here on their laptops while waiting for their class. They're here meeting friends and heading to a taqueria for lunch. O.M.G. They are here! Come to think of it, even my ballet class has TWO guys in it. (well, that is amazing, right?! I'm sure the African tribal, salsa and hip hop classes have TONS more!) But with a teacher like Marisa Castillo who has extensive background in ballet and also incorporates Feldenkrais in her teaching, who wouldn't go to her class? The ballet studio itself is beautiful: artsy wooden beams, light gray Marley floor (canvas or leather ballet shoes both glide nicely) and skylights make this an airy, open space that'll inspire you to dance. Don't let your work schedule or any kind of excuses get in the way of taking a dance class at ODC, they offer 200 classes a week, 365 days a year. The website is chock full of information and is constantly updated, so if the staff at the front area don't have time to help you, you can get all your info on the web. I was so excited to tell my girlfriend to take a class here, but she already beat me to it when she said that a friend asked her to take a Flamenco class at ODC. Well, great minds think alike! I'm positive that this is the most useful review I've written to date, because I can confidently say that ODC is a great place to meet guys who love to (and maybe even can?) dance.

Workout classes are not cheap, but what drew me to the Bar Method was the sign outside that said 13 classes for $78 (use within 60 days.) That comes out to be $6/class! What a steal! I'd never done barre before, but have pilates and yoga experience. I liked Barre because it toned so many different areas! We started with upper body, then moved down the body to legs and glutes and calves and abs! I liked how the class attendees were much more diverse (age, ethnicity, size) than pilates classes. It's very inclusive. Owner Noreen was the instructor and she was very helpful, guiding me and others to have better form. There are pads for when we kneel and sit. The studio is clean and airy. I like their no cell phone policy--too many people in other studios use cell phones during class and it's distracting! I also liked seeing the check-in counter woman diligently cleaning the locker area outside the class room. We take off our shoes there before going in, and it seemed clean. Will be back!

I signed up for the 5:30 Bar Method class & it was great to see some familiar faces & meet the studio owners (they also own the San Mateo & Palo Alto studios). It was a great class, fun & very effective & I know that I will be sore tomorrow. Looking forward to taking more classes soon!

Most recent experience: The last time I was at this CorePower was such a frustrating experience! There was a group of us waiting outside the studio for class, but no one ever showed up to open the studio nor teach the class, and no one was answering their phones (we also tried to reach out to their support center). On top of that, the weather was wet and awful (obv don't blame the studio for that, but waiting outside for so long with no contact from anyone at CP wasn't great). When they finally responded to my support messages, they reimbursed my booked class and gave me an extra class that expires in one month, but it was still very unprofessional that this happened at all. Classes: After pandemic, the studio is less busy which is admitted kinda nice sometimes as there isn't a struggle to find space in class even during "rush" times; however, this also means that a lot of their classes have been getting cancelled. It's unclear why, though I suspect a combo of lack of signups and the inability to find a substitute if the scheduled teacher is unavailable at short notice. Teacher Training: They're always pushing their teacher training programs and it seems like teachers graduate often. When taking class at the same time a training is going on, the student teachers often socialized in the lobby during their break, making it more challenging to get through to the class.

I was referred through the Four Seasons and booked spa services while in town for a week. While I paid full price and tipped accordingly, the overall quality of my services was disappointing. My facial, in particular, was not up to standard. I've had a HydraFacial before, and this experience was noticeably inconsistent. The serums that are typically left on the skin were removed, which was surprising and not in line with what the service should be. Meanwhile, my friend received a completely different (and much better) version of the same facial, including additional modalities and proper finishing--this level of inconsistency is a huge red flag. The massage was also underwhelming. The technique felt minimal and lacked intention, especially compared to my friend's experience, where she described a thorough, tension-relieving service that clearly went above and beyond. I did bring my concerns to the front desk staff before leaving, specifically about both my facial and massage. Unfortunately, the response was disappointing--they looked at each other as if unsure how to respond and offered no feedback, follow-up questions, or attempt to address the situation. At that point, I simply paid and left. (I will add that our initial encounter with the spa front desk girl who gave us a tour was exceptional and had great customer service etiquette. Sadly, she left as I was changing.) Customer service unfortunately didn't improve afterward. I inquired about Pilates Reformer sessions, and the front desk staff were less than helpful. I also followed up via email and didn't receive a response until a week later--which, again, is disappointing for a business of this caliber. Overall, between the inconsistent services, lack of accountability on-site, and delayed customer support, I left feeling that the experience did not reflect the price point or reputation. I had high hopes, but sadly, I'm not very impressed.

I have a couple of instructors that I trust will give me a solid workout. But many are still learning and it can be distracting to have someone that is still working on the fundamentals of the class like remembering and being confident in flow sequence, motivating tone without yelling, and music choice. They don't clean the studio in between sweaty classes. Also the locker rooms are often left in poor condition for the prices they charge. It's more like a cheap gym rather than a boutique fitness studio. But I continue because these are the hottest yoga classes in terms of temperature. And the good instructors are gems. They often change the schedule without updating the instructor to catfish people to take amateur instructors. I wish they would be more transparent with scheduling. They don't cap the amount of people in a class so busy classes can be super tight. And more than 5 times have charged me for no shows when I have attended the classes. It's a super bummer when I've been such a regular client to be charged a no show for a class I attended and have to ask for my money back. I'm writing this because I want and believe they can do better as a company. Downtown SF needs this kind of business to thrive.

Classes: There are themes (Cardio, Resistance, Hybrid), but the classes within the themes are not the same, so you always get a variety of exercises to challenge yourself within the 45min block. Even if there's something you don't particularly like (for me it's pullups, lol), you just need to push through and then it's over within a few minutes or less. The structure of the 45min class includes a walkthrough of the exercises, the workout, and then an optional cooldown (or burnout, depending on the day). One thing I've always liked about F45 that I haven't seen at many other studios is the TV screens which, in addition to the 1-2 coaches walking around, are great reminders for how to do the exercises. Coaches: Dan, Manny, Ethan, Mac, Trinity, Jennifer, and the other Transbay coaches are all welcoming, friendly, and experienced. They help guide everyone through the exercises, offer tips and advice (e.g., alignment), push you to challenge yourself (e.g., increase the weight), and most importantly to motivate you! If you're a complete beginner, it can be helpful to mention that to them before class and/or wave them down during class if you would like additional attention and instruction. Studio: The studio is probably one of the easiest F45 studios to get to, if you don't already live or work nearby, because it's right across the street from the Transbay Terminal or a short walk from Market or Embarcadero. (The entrance is down a small side street, which can be missed if you don't the sign on the street though.) The studio itself still feels all shiny and new, and the equipment is in excellent, like new condition. There are open cubbies to store your things during class, and there are also 2 all-gender (individual) restrooms, showers, and towels available to use. Membership/Pricing: F45 has memberships, class packs (including an intro pack for newbies), and drop-in rates. They're also on ClassPass (and GymPass..?). If you're aiming to go to a class during peak hours, it can be a good idea to book your spot in advance.

I was impressed from the start with F45's offering of full-body workouts, motivational instructors, and display screens in front that show exactly how to perform each exercise for reference throughout class. The facilities are super clean and nice, which elevates the entire experience of working out. The main reason I joined this particular studio is location. It's so conveniently located with the embarcadero muni/bart stop in close proximity, as well as a bunch of healthy food options for quick access to post-workout fuel. Apart from location, the Transbay team was super accommodating. A week after the Yelp community event I went to, they were having their 1-year anniversary party of being open. I really wanted to go, but I had schedule conflicts. When I reached out to the team, they still offered me the first-month promo they were giving out at the party. I really appreciate the gesture, and the entire process of communicating with the team and setting up my membership was frictionless, so huge shout out to the team for being awesome and taking good care of me. Since I'm just getting started, I've only logged two workouts here so far, but I'm sure I'll accumulate many more soon!

What I appreciate most is how attentive he is--if something feels off or painful, he listens, makes adjustments, and those adjustments almost always solve the problem.
