My grandfather stayed in the Scandia Village for the past 7 years. He was originally not so sure…read moreabout it, and 3 weeks into his stay there he asked why he didn't go sooner because he was enjoying it so much. There is a lovely garden, indoor plant and puzzle area, solarium where you can read and socialize, a large fellowship hall, chapel area, and dining hall, puzzle and game room upstairs where some folks play bridge and games, and a gazebo outdoors to walk out to during good weather. The staff are so caring and friendly. There is a rotating selection of resident made artwork out in the halls where my grandfather had some of his framed photographs during his stay. Fiber arts and quilts are also hung there. It's great to see the artistry of the people there! I'd love to stay in the solarium and library and plant area myself! Definitely a great home for folks to retire to.

This assisted living/skilled nursing facility has been bought out by Continuum Healthcare. Since…read morethen, the staff has been drastically cut. Local, full-time CNAs/RNs have been replaced by out-of-state contractors. So every 3 months, new staff are coming in and then leaving. There is no continuity of care this way. And in my opinion, not the best way to run a business. Everyone knows contractors cost more than local full-time employees. The top nursing and administration directors have also been replaced by Continuum staff. There motto is all about the bottom line, financially. Open beds are not being filled, due to their recent cut in staff. They would prefer to be fined by the state for not filling their beds, than hire more staff. Activities for the residents have been dropped. The saddest one is the daily devotionals, and with most of these residents at their end of life, faith is so important at this stage. Continuum administration does not care about their patients' dignity. Their website logo is: "With a focus on patient-centered care, Continuum's approach to patient satisfaction is the foundation of its culture." This was a very nice facility before Continuum took over. It's a shame that they're only thinking about money... and not actual patient care, as their logo suggests.
