But my most recent experience left me disheartened and stressed and ultimately forced me to seek state intervention. Ace began a larger project in my home without a signed contract. The technician they assigned delivered inconsistent and incomplete work. Closets were non-functional, trim and doors were never installed, and the framing of the walls was unstable. Their office later admitted that the technician had not been fully trained. Despite the poor quality and unfinished work, I received an inflated invoice that far exceeded the original estimate, with no written change orders or documentation of approved added scope. When I questioned the charges, Ace threatened to place a lien on my home. I had no choice but to file a formal complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Only after that did Ace apologize, say they would consider the matter closed, and confirm they would not pursue legal action. Based on their apology, I moved on and hired another professional to fix the framing and complete the work properly. But nearly two months later, Ace unexpectedly contacted me again. They sent a revised contract and demanded full payment by the end of the week, along with threats of legal action if I didn't comply. This sudden reversal felt coercive and completely at odds with what they had stated before. This experience has been emotionally exhausting and financially disruptive. I once referred this company to others but can no longer do so in good faith. If you choose to work with them, protect yourself. Get everything in writing, insist on formal documentation for any added work, and be cautious if issues arise.

There were many other things wrong in the bathroom that he said he was working on but actually spent five hours on a leaky toilet, never mentioning he was having trouble fixing it. As I suspected, he sealed the leak into floor. A few months later water was dripping from the living room ceiling below the bathroom, and I had to get a whole new toilet anyway and tested for moisture damage. The office manager yelled at me for not managing his time better; and yet, every time I checked on him he said he was doing fine. Also, when I called her to say he wasn't getting anywhere, she never called me back. Instead she called him and he stormed up and down the stairs all mad at me. Then he parked me in so I could not get to my appointment. The manager, Brian I think his name was, sent me rude emails saying I was causing him unprecedented frustration by not just shutting up and paying for this "service." And was like threatening taking action against me legally I guess. I imagine he was threatening legal action and not illegal. Super stressful. Eventually a better employee came out and fixed some things; but there was a lot of talking down to me and saying the things I needed (which I had put in my original service request) were not needed.
