Very cute corner market. Popped over after brunching down the street at El Chucho. This store is aptly named, they have every odd and end you need and never thought you needed: plants, condiments, bath salts, beer, wine, fresh salads and lasagnas...inumerable to list. Wish I lived walking distance to this little gem, I'd be there every day!

They have all the brands I forgot I loved. WYLD! AARDVARK SAUCE! I am already putting in an order for my favorite spicy jelly. I cannot wait to return for a mini picnic. They gave everything you need to snack on, a microwave to heat it up, and a cute patio seating area. Only misfortune is they don't accept EBT....yet?!?!!

Odd Provisions is a new corner market that opened up in the Columbia Heights 'hood. I was super excited to hear about their opening, so the hubs and I made made sure to check it out on the weekend. The market itself is super cute, as it has basic grocery items (milk, yogurt, cheeses, juices, etc.), fresh produce (squash, leafy veggies, etc.), an interesting selection of beer and wine, as well as other local baked goods (cookies, brownies, chocolate bars, etc.) coffee, and some greeting cards (!). The market itself is bright, a minimalist type of a decor (but, super cute!), and just a nice selection of high-quality items. I bought a Turkey & Ham on a pretzel roll, a Pimento & Cheese sandwich, a couple of wine as gifts, and a small bottle of lemonade. I'm looking forward to their up and coming additions and partnership, such as Izakaya Seki's onigiri balls and bento boxes. The staff were super welcoming, super nice, and helpful. There's some limited free 2-hour parking around the neighborhood. Check this great little market out! :D +ready-made sandwiches +great selection of high-quality items +friendly staff :D +limited 2-hour free parking around the residential area

There was a man behind the counter who asked a couple of times if he could help us and we kept saying, "no, thank you were just looking around." After perusing the shop for about 10 minutes reading labels and talking about what we might buy the man asked us again. I finally said, "we're not looking for anything in particular, just thinking about what we want to have at home to make drinks". His reply? "Well I have a lot of duties that I can't do while you're here. You've been here for 10 minutes and I have things to do." Not only were his words rude, but his tone was dismissive and annoyed. I am seriously disappointed, especially since there were things that we were actually thinking of getting. I get that you're 25 minutes away from closing time on a Friday, but as someone who has worked in customer service, I would have been fired for saying something like that.

I love checking out wine stores to see what they have in stock. I stumble upon Vin De Constance 2013 a family favorite. Great DESSERT Wine!! I went on wine scavenger a web based wine Encyclopedia if you may. Great source for viewing other professional and nonprofessional ratings. The owner proceeds to tell me you do you know that wine apps and wine websites are a waste of time and are usually completely wrong. I tell her thanks for your opinion. Awkwardly... I am in the wine business .... and review wines myself. As I go to grab the bottle, the owner actually takes it from my hand and takes the price off the wall. She tells me this is the wrong price it's priced too low. . Granted I agree I was surprised to see a 2013 for under 60 bucks. But the bottle was in my hand .. and I told her I was ready to purchase it. Oh it gets better .... she then tells me have a great day. ..... like what??? So my response ok then you too... LITERALLY IM IN SHOCK. Not sure if I should be annoyed or laugh. Needless to say at least I know I won't be recommending this place to my family or friends. STAY AWAY YELP COMMUNITY. If I could give 0 stars I would. Come on yelp get with it.
