The nearby campgrounds we were targeting were closed for the season, so we turned around and headed back to Odell hoping they had a spot. Happy accident! Warm lodge, lovely cabins, and nice camping spots along the lake. We ended up grabbing a spot and heading to the lodge for both dinner and breakfast the next morning. They definitely have a family atmosphere...super friendly and welcoming. The food was good and the views beautiful.

Beautiful sunset views at the doc

I came here for my birthday weekend. It was the PERFECT getaway! The staff is extremely kind and helpful. We stayed in the Lake House cabin which had a beautiful, yet, "at-home" feel to it and is tucked away privately away from everyone else. Its so quiet, and the views of the lake from the living room and master bedroom are epic. I enjoyed sitting inside by the fire and watching outside, it was so peaceful. We ate at the lodge, the food was so yummy. We loved the soups and bread. Perfect after being in the snow. Wes did a phenomenal job serving our table. We also went on a guided snowmobile tour. Candice was our guide and she did fantastic. She made our adventure so much fun!! My cheeks hurt after because I was laughing and smiling so much. We will DEFINITELY be back!!! Thanks again for our beautiful stay!!!

You want to go!! Quaint historical lodge located in a beautiful setting with incredible views. You will be surprised by how good the food is since you're in the middle of the woods. On the menu tonight, we had the best chicken corn chowder we've ever had, an amazing Authentic Italian style lasagna, and marionberry cobbler. It was super delicious. Portions are large, and prices are great. We also loved our super friendly wait staff. We left with full bellies and big smiles on our faces. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You can also rent a cabin, enjoy water sports, take a hike, and visit nearby waterfalls. It's 5 stars for sure!

I have just had an enjoyable weekend at the Odell lake lodge and resort. This was chosen as the venue for my daughter's wedding and it turned out to be a great success. Bruce, who is the new owner, has a solid staff that was accommodating and available to our whims of change. Special shout out to Jack and Liz. The movers and shakers that kept this wedding and reception flowing carefree for all guests. It rained before and after the wedding and they took care of table coverages and continued on with dinner services. For our personal wants for privacy, we rented all campsites, lodge rooms and cabins for this wedding. The restaurant food at the lodge was great. Well served with indoor and outdoor dining. That, while sitting with cocktails, the view of the lake, was memorable. Thank you Bruce and your entire staff. Rob Father of the bride

We were looking for somewhere to stay near Crater Lake National Park. We lucked out finding this beautiful location. The staff was so nice and accommodating, the restaurant was very good and conveniently located. The views were top notch! We didn't do it, there were lots of things to do.

Odell Lake is an incredibly serene and peaceful place, home to spectacular trees and impeccable scenery. It is an expanse dedicated to preserving the finest that Oregon offers. It had been about a decade since I stayed here. I didn't have a poor experience way back when, but this recent experience was far superior. Candice and Bruce are the new owners, and they provided me with a truly wonderful trip. They were hustling for the entirety of my multi-day stay, and always doing it in a kind and respectful way. I'm especially fond of their aligned teamwork, and witnessing how they would uplift and speak good of each other when the other was not around. I observed frequent tidying and cleaning, and everything smelled fresh. They happily rearranged furniture to accommodate larger groups when needed. The rooms have undergone some noticeable upgrades, with cozy modernization. I stayed during a time where about 2 feet of snow fell within a very short period of time. I drive a Toyota Corolla, so my ground clearance is abysmal. They had a truck plow the entry road and lot, so aside from me getting stuck once briefly, I was still able to travel safely and freely. They also offered to help me, let me borrow their windshield scraper/brush/snow shovel, and allowed me a 1-hour late checkout. The food prices were very reasonable and with generous portions. Everything was freaking delicious, but the rib eye, Caesar salad, and Gouda breakfast sandwich were my favorites. They were very casual about me taking food and drink from the restaurant up to my room. I also witnessed Bruce custom-make food for a guest who wanted something that wasn't on the menu. Candice was such a sweet and terrific host. She let me use the hot tub on a day where that cabin was vacant, invited me to play Scrabble in the lodge, took me for a ride on the fancy snow tractor, and indulged my wanting to love on their adorable little doggies. Really, the flexibility and graciousness of the owners and staff was very much apparent, and I overheard other guests sharing their own stories and echoing my sentiments as well. I'll definitely be going back.

Such a beautiful place, and the new owners are just the nicest people! Great food that's not a rip-off (you gotta try the fish and chips), clean and well maintained, and the guided sledding tour was a core memory for the kiddos for sure

Fantastic property! It's rustic, peaceful, and well maintained. The new owners Bruce and Candice are lovely and soooo accommodating! They're making some nice updates to the property. And, Charlie, Jenna, and JENNY are amazing!! They all made our most recent stay so fun & wonderful. We love staying in the cabins and eating at the restaurant in the lodge. The food is great!!! The lasagna is some of the best we've ever had. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here and eating here!!! We will be back soon!!

The meeting place was well described to us and followed up with an email. The shuttle was right on time. Chris was very personable. I loved his knowledge of the area and information he shared with us regarding the bike ride we were about to go on. He also had detailed maps of the 26 mile rides for us and also described some specific areas of the trail. I have been on many shuttles. What I loved most about Chris is that at the end he wanted to make sure everyone was ok and no questions that anyone had were left unanswered. He did not rush off. Thank you!!

You're riding along the Mackenzie river on a single track trail for up to 25 miles. The scenery is amazing. The water is roaring and clear. The trail is very well maintained. I'm glad this business exists and people have an opportunity to explore this terrific landscape. The bad: we showed up and the guy behind the desk was stressed and had a lot of anxiety. It was only us and one other group of two people. We planned on doing the entire trail (25 miles) but were told the top 9 miles is very technical and we should only do the bottom 16 miles. We submitted and said okay. Unfortunately, where we dropped off only allowed for 10 miles of beginner riding. I called when we finished and they said it was a miss-communication on their part and would take us further up. We went further up and did the next 10 miles. There was one mile of pretty technical riding where we had to stop riding and walk a decent amount. The rest of the time was all beginner/intermediate riding. When finished we couldn't call the shop to get picked up because there was no service. We rode along the road until there was service and called and txted the driver 11 times. No answer. We finally called the shop and were informed that "his phone was on the charger." They said he would be here to pick us up in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later I called back and got a lot of attitude from the front desk staff saying "we have other things to do to." Luckily it was an amazing ride. Really hoping they can get their communication and customer service dialed in!

Overall we were really pleased with our stay. The cabins are about 85 years old but in good condition and our cabin had a cool old fridge that my kids were really impressed with ("the door is so heavy!"). The kitchen was pretty well appointed and had a coffee maker, toaster, silverware, dishes, most kitchen utensils, pots and pans, baking dishes, and even a hand mixer! Our cabin consisted of a full or queen sized bed in a room with an attached bathroom and a futon bed in the living room. We have 4 children under 10 and we barely fit! Laundry is available ($1.50 per wash or dry load) as long as they aren't using them to do cabin laundry. I ended up having to wait 30 min for cabin laundry load to finish but was able to do two loads of my own with no interruptions. The owners were great. About 1 hour after arrival I got a big sliver in my hand and had forgotten to bring tweezers. I went up to the little store/check in area and they did not have tweezers for sale. So the owner lady went to her personal first aid kit and got tweezers and then pulled them out for me! I joked that I did not know that medical services were included :) The guy owner gave our two youngest kids a ride in his tractor when he saw how in awe they were. Pretty nice! The little store has very very limited items. However, just down the road there is a bigger store that has more and in about 30 minutes you can reach an actual grocery if you need one. Wifi is available but very very weak, at least in the cabin area. The only downside to the cottages is their close proximity to Hwy 58. You can hear traffic very loudly. Its not too bad at night but not really all that quiet. It also made me a little nervous with my wandering 3 year old. That said, the creek itself has a lovely sound that drowns out the traffic and I was not bothered too much by the traffic noise overall. The surrounding area is gorgeous, tons of Forest Service roads to explore, Crescent Lake (Simax Beach being our favorite), the gorgeous and clear Lake Waldo, Willamette Pass, which unfortunately did not have their gondolas open when we visited. Odell Lake had some great recreation options but was non usable when we visited due to blue-green algae. The COOLEST thing that you must do is go out to the Sunriver Observatory, about 1 hour away, at night and look through their telescopes. Whoa. So cool. That was the highlight of our trip. You can also go during the day and view the sun... one of the few places in the US you can do so. Well worth the drive.

Pros: Excellent location if you want to explore Crater Lake Staff were friendly and the person who helped me over the phone was very helpful. Beautiful location They will give you more towels than you could ever possibly hope to use LOL The quiet hours were indeed quiet and we were able to get a decent night's sleep, although the mattress has seen better days. Having a kitchen was nice. We brought our own food so we didnt have to rely on going to restaurants. They have a little store there to get some beverages and snacks. They have the only gas station within about 30 minutes of the area, but the hours are limited. Cons: The place is very run down and in poor condition. It almost feels like it was abandoned for a few years and someone decided to re-open it with only rudimentary repairs. The bathroom is in dire need of remodeling. You just dont feel clean after showering. Ultimately the reason why I'm giving it a 3 is because there was mildew on the shower curtain, and not a spot here and there, it was noticeable to anyone. That kind of just pushed the experience from one of "oh this isnt bad" to feeling like we wanted to go home and get clean. Because the buildings are so run down, it just kind of makes you sad being there. That being said, if your plan is to spend a day on the lake fishing or hiking in the National Park, and just want to come back to your room at night to sleep, this is probably a good choice for you. We did not eat at the restaurant. Given the overall condition of the place we were concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen.

The first time was during their Labor Day festivities, when a live band was scheduled. We tried to find out when the band would be playing, but no staff member seemed to know. One finally said, "You'll hear them when they start playing." Not exactly helpful, so we left. On our second visit, we decided to sit on the outdoor patio at the restaurant for a drink and maybe an appetizer. We both ordered Manhattans and looked over the menu. The drinks took a while to arrive, and the moment I saw them, I knew they wouldn't be good--and they weren't. That pretty much decided it for us, and we skipped ordering food. The patio does offer a lovely view of the lake, but it's dated and showing its age. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and we won't be back the next time we're in the area.
