Our cheerleaders used chants that mocked MCA, and there was visible anger when MCA's cheerleaders tried to cheer for their own team. Class sizes are small, usually around 18 children per teacher plus a classroom assistant. Before and after-school care is available for a very modest charge, and allows parents to drop children off as early as 6am and pick them up again as late as 6pm. My daughter has attended since Pre-K, and all of her teachers have been wonderful and caring. Tuition is incredibly reasonable for the calibur of education provided, and there is a limited amount of financial aid available. There is no reason for us to consider the much more expensive private schools in the area when Atholton Adventist Academy is so great.

At the core of our search was a school that was Christ-centered and where parents were considered the primary educators of their child(ren). At Rockbridge, we have found that and more. Education there is perceived as the exploring, unpacking and understanding of God's creation, and this philosophy undergirds every subject area. They follow a classical curriculum, which essentially translates to an education that aligns with a child's natural development. The fruit of this form of education has been wonderful to witness as a parent. What really has been the "clincher" for my husband and I is the way they handle discipline. At the heart is forgiveness and restoration of the student. I am so incredibly grateful for the education they are receiving there and that they experience the Lord's grace there and at home.

We cancelled 60 days prior to our youngest started school in September, but lost two months worth of tuition deposit, which was $1,540. We explained our situation to the director, Damita Robinson, that we had to cancel due to our PCS to a different state, but she gave zero refund simply saying that she cannot deviate from the contract. They do not have a prorated refund policy. If you cancel after a certain date, you will lose all of your deposit. In my honest opinion, the school's cancellation policy is unjust and unethical. Why did I have to lose all of $1,540 for no school attended? It disheartens me to only give 3 stars to a school that our three kids loved so much.

I suppose the joke is on us since we didn't pull our kid and put her in Arch Bishop after we really learned this school didn't align with our values at all. My daughter was also an underachiever, so that was on her. We did watch other kids really soar and have some wonderful opportunities offered. Additionally my daughter never had bullying issues, and did have a good HS experience. There were a few stand out teachers and some 1 college counselor who really did care:) if you want to send your kid to private school go with Arch Bishop. It's two years later after my kid graduated, I am still disappointed and really wish I would have done better research.

As a former student who attended prior to the campus merger, I can definitively say this school…read morefailed in its basic duty to keep me safe. I faced relentless, systematic bullying by the vast majority of the student body, literally only four students during my entire time there did not mistreat me. The administration was completely useless; they actively ignored the toxic environment and did absolutely nothing to intervene or protect my well-being resulting in a severe, life threatening crisis for my mental health. Shockingly, the only time administration ever engaged with me regarding these issues was so that I could face disciplinary action from when I finally tried to stand up for myself. This institution protects bullies and penalizes victims. I would never recommend this school to any family who cares about student safety, emotional support, or basic human decency.
